Before

After

I have a sectional in my family room that I have been trying to think about how I could "cottage" it up some how.  I looked into getting a slipcover made and that cost almost as much as the sectional cost me a year ago at Macy's!!!! So I was in Vintage a cute store in Morris yesterday and found these cute scarfs so I decided to attach them to the base of the sectional as a skirt.  I had a hard time getting a good picture but I think I might like this.  Not sure yet.  I am going to give it a couple of days and see if it grows on me.

    1. Hi Lynn,
I got those cute pillows from Cindy at www.cutepinkstuff.com. She also has other styles. Check out her site it is so cute. She also sells on etsy. I am still not sure about the bottom of the sectional yet. I have to give it a few days to see if I really like it.

  2. Hey Kris! Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my blog! Looking forward to getting to know you! I love the new addition to your sofa! It does soften up the look and bring in a cottagey look! :) Have you thought of tucking a dropcloth around it to simulate a slipcover...? Or maybe just on the seat cushions? I took the back cushions off my sofa (I do have a slipcover), and plopped a bunch of slipcovered Euro pillows there. So comfy! Oh, and also...check out Uglysofa.com. They sell high quality slipcovers for cheeeeeap!!! I've got a couple and they're wonderful!

    1. Hi Laurie,
Thanks for the info on uglysofa.com. I will jump over there and check it out. That sectional is only a year old so to replace it would be crazy so I am trying to make it work in the room. I am not sure about the skirt yet. I need a few days to look at it. My camera picture does not do it justice it is brighter and prettier in person. My hubby also lays to watch TV on that sectional so I don't want to cutesy it up too much!!!!! I am married to a fire chief and I need to have some place in my femine cottage home for him too!!!!!

  3. I think that looks really cute! It's unique, and it matches the pillows to give it a cottagey look without being over the top :)

    1. Thanks Mary. That is my front porch. We live outside Chicago so my poor flowers with this heat and no rain to speak of are looking a little sad!!!! My water bills have been crazy with having to water so much!!!!!

    1. It really is easy peasy. Just a little sanding and then my husband actually used spray paint and it came out really smooth and nice. I then used a mouse sander to chippy distressed it a little bit. I came out so nice and was really easy. About an hour project.

  6. Hey Kris...love your blog and absolutely love the coffee table you just did! I just picked up a trunk similar to yours last night at a local auction house. You'll have to come check it out in a few days when it's finished. I'm using a mustard & dark walnut stain combo. Following you back via email. Blessings ~ Judy

    1. Hi Judy,
OMG!!!! I will be by to see what you do with the chest. My motto is Rescue and relove something. It is amazing what a little bit of elbow grease and love can do to rehab these pieces. I can't wait to see what you do with the stain combo.
I am not a big stain person more of a painter so I am curious to see how this comes out.

    1. Good Morning,
Thanks for coming by. This was one of my attempts to cottage up the sectional and then later if you look at my post on the slipcovers I ended up having a slipcover made for the sectional and just love it. If you don't want to do a slipcover this was pretty easy to do along the base of the sectional. I just used a curtain valance I got at Bed Bath and Beyond and then attached lace and old vintage pieces to it and used two sided fabric tape to put it in place. No sewing needed and then if you want to take it off the sectional you can. Thanks for the nice comments.
