After the cabinet came down |
A little paint touch up on the wall |
My husband then built me two shelves to put my dishes on. I like the open shelf concept for my dishes. |
A few little decor items added below the shelf |
I love this old vintage cheese box I got for a dollar at the flea market!!!!! Love those little finds. Not hard at all got this done in one day today. |
My husband also added back the puck lights I had going under the cabinet. It is hard to take pictures in this kitchen with my camera but the lights under the shelves really are pretty at night. |

Hi Sheila,
DeleteThanks for the nice comments. Welcome and because you found me I found you. I love your blog. Love the slipcovered couches too. I am going to go over and jump on your blog so I can see what other beauties you have on there.
Kris
I love, love, love the new open shelving in your kitchen. All your dishes and the lighting is just perfect. You have such a good eye for creating beauty! I so enjoy each post on your blog. ~ Jamie
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jamie. This was a pretty easy change. One day. I wish I had a better camera to take better pictures but the lights under the shelves does help to light the dishes.

Love the open shelves...they look great!! We are in the middle of a total kitchen remodel and I'm wanting some shelves and some lights under the cabinets. Love the pig cutting board. We use to make and sale cutting boards at my shows. I think I need to make one for my new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOh go for the open shelves. I am loving this. I love having them out and on display. Putting the puck lights under the shelves and cabinets really lights the kitchen nicely. I do love that.

Very Nice! I LOVE your new look! The light above is a great look the way it highlights your shelves....the kitchen is so lovely! From one sweetie to another~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Hey what are you going to do with that great sink you scored for $5. Are you going to put it in your kitchen. That is a beauty.
Kris
I love the look of open shelving. I can't believe you accomplished all that in a day and your husband built the shelves! Lucky you! We took our cabinet doors off when I painted them, and I couldn't believe how much easier it is to access everything when you don't have to open and close cabinet doors!
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie,
DeleteI know I love the open concept. Now that I know how easy it is I may have to try this again. My hubby is kind of handy and loves when I ask him to make something for me. It usually requires a trip to Home Depot (his fav) and a new tool!!!!!! He's happy and I am happy.
Kris
your kitchen is so awesome, kris! love the lighting in the new shelves and those cute pendants:) have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKris, I actually was going to put it under my ARBOR and make it a POTTING SINK. I have a 20ft.long by 8ft area covered in wisteria, backside of my patio. It's like a different world under there. It's very cool in the heat of summer..I do transplanting and potting...things like that. Many people have mentioned to me they would put it in the kitchen...My hubby even said that would look great in the house! Never know...have to think about it! Maybe down the road??!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh sounds really cool for the garden under the Arbor. That would be different and neat. The kitchen would be more work to get it up to working. I know when we put in our farmhouse sink it was a whole thing to get it to fit with the cabinets and plumbing etc. What ever you do keep me posted and I want to see a picture I will keep an eye out on your blog. Love that sink.

Very, very nice :)

Hi Diane,
DeleteWelcome. Thanks for stopping by.
Kris
How beautiful! It's farmhouse perfection. One of these days I hope to get some open shelving up in my own kitchen. I love the addition of the lights too!
ReplyDeleteIt really was not hard. My hubby made me the shelves because I wanted the shelves to hold my 10.5 inch plates but I know if you do not have someone to make the shelves you can buy stock shelves too. The lights are just little I call them puck lights that they sell at Home Depot, Lowes etc. for under counter lighting. Thanks for the nice comments.
DeleteMy dream kitchen! Wood counters, white cabinets and open shelving! Thank you for sharing your inspiring room.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Angela
Hi Angela,
DeleteThanks for the wonderful comments. This kitchen was not as hard as one may think. Counter tops from Ikea cheap $189 a 6 foot piece and it is 4 inch oak and the farmhouse kitchen sink Ikea again very cheap and I just painted my wood cabinets with rusteolum cabinet paint kit and my husband made the open shelves for me. It was a pretty easy transformation and not alot of money.
Looks lovely! And what a great idea - the wire fencing above the cupboards!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeletenice to "meet" you!
Just wanted to let you know that I love your farmhouse kitchen and had to pin it!
Hope that's okay with you? The window behind the sink is fabulous!
Sending you wishes of Happiness
