I was sure there was an old round coffee table shoved back somewhere out in the shed that I wanted to have my husband go out into the cold and search for. He said it was way back in the shed under alot of other stuff. I was feeling a little guilty about saying please dig and get it for me so I can see if it works in the room!!!! Well so glad I did not let the guilt I was feeling of him having to rearrange the shed to get to the table because...... In his search he found these chippy old shutters that were hidden and I forgot about!!!! Well those little chippy treasures needed to come in from the shed too. As alot of you know I love old chippy re purposed things with history. So these were salvage finds from an old farmhouse that I adopted and saved from the trash and I thought to myself some day I will find some place for these beauties. Well I did.
My living room wall over the sectional is coming together with these little treasures. |
I hate that thermostat is there I will have to think of something clever to cover that ugly thing up. |
Kris I LOVE your chippy shutters and window vignette!!!!Looks perfect! Oh I hate those thermostats, outlets and cords too! I am always trying to disguise them too! Sometimes I just can't though.

How about starting an online decor consulting business. I could sure use some of your help.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please pass on our thanks to your DH for going out to find the shutters. They are fantastic. How did the round table work out?
*Smiles*
It all looks so lovely! I hope you'll come by and share at the Knick of Time Tuesday Vintage Inspiration party!

~Angie @ Knick of Time
wow. what a 'find'....=) the shutters look great.
ReplyDeleteidea for that thermostat:
move shutters a bit further out, and hang then out from wall a bit.
other idea: drape some fabric off of shutters...attach at inside top edge of shutter tops, and drape out near thermostat. some hanging straight down by shutter, but other out, like a curtain would be. (like Priscilla curtains used to hang.)
hard to describe...but so clear in my mind. =)
will see if I can find pic.

or...uh, oh. my brain is going now.)
ReplyDeleteattach across whole top of shutter, over about foot from top, and tie back. still Priscilla idea, but more of shutter showing.
Well, you know, just play...I think it would be really cute...

Charming old chippy shutters...well worth the search:)

Beautiful! I love shutters like these! They are perfect for your room! Hey! What happened with the coffee table? LOL Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteHi Leena,
DeleteThe coffee table just did not work in the space too round and the legs to much scroll to them. I loved my old cedar chest I painted white but it does not work in the new room either. I think I may have to go with a square table of some kind to fit the space. I am on the hunt or will have the hubby make me something. So no table yet. I have cute things to put on a table too so I want to find something.
Kris
I just hate thermostats and plugs....you know someday in the future they will think of a better way....
ReplyDeleteThat window with the shutters is great!
I just discovered you and will get a cup of tea and snoop around. First, I gotta ask, please, what color is that on your new walls? I've been looking for just the right white, not too white, not too yellow or gray or blue-ish. Your choice is perfect.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your house......
Hi Susie,
DeleteI looked and looked for the right paint. I did not want pure white but a little cream in it but not too much yellow and I found this color called toasted almond by Behr. Another color I found that I have in my master bedroom is called cotton whisper and it is a little lighter and more of a pale ivory that is pretty too and from Behr. Snoop all you like thanks for coming by.
Kris
Hi Kris, Thank you soooo very much. You sharing your color choices will keep me from going even more batty....I've been painting swatches on the walls for over 2 years. We have the original woodwork in a 1900 house and the white has to match, ya know? Your colors are just right....Whew, now I can get started painting AND
DeleteI'll be a regular here from now on!
LOVE the chippy architecturals over your sofa. Perfect!!
