I want to take a minute and thank each of you for being so sweet and kind with comments and best wishes with my back issues. This has been an exhausting week with ups and downs with my back. Today I feel encouraged that it is getting better. I start some physical therapy next week and hope my back will be on the mend.
Now on to the post. It is snowing like crazy here in Chicago and I love the beauty in the white snow but I am a summer girl so I dug out some of my pictures of my garden from last summer to share and reminisce about the beauty to come. Oh how I want summer again!!!
This is what has been going on outside in my garden area. They said we got about 5 inches of snow yesterday here in Chicago with more flurries to come.

How beautiful and abundant your garden looks in Summer, Kris! No wonder you miss it! I love how you've used the hanging plants on your deck. This would be a good idea for my daughter to give them some kind of privacy. I'll have to show her yours. Love your lounge chair cover!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the snow, but I'm ready for SPRING/SUMMER too! Your yard is B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L!! The flowers are breathtaking! LOVE the CHAISE with its floral cover...that's the BOMB! Did you make that or buy that? I can't wait to see MORE of your yard this year....I am a GARDENER AT HEART! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteThanks Roxie. I am so a summer girl and love my flowers. I had that lounge chair cover made. I do not sew I wish I knew how but I don't so I pay others to make me cute things!!!!!! Glad to see you are getting settled in your new digs. Hope all is going well.

Those pictures should give you hope of a brighter day. Thanks for sharing. They made me smile.
ReplyDeleteGlad they made you smile. I needed to see that beautiful garden these past few days with all the cold and snow we have been getting. I have such a hard time in the winter months being a summer girl so they made me smile too to dig them out to post.

What a drastic difference. Once can almost feel the warm sunshine in the summer pics. Absolutely beautiful - love the fire truck :) ~Susie~
ReplyDeleteHellooooo Kris...
ReplyDeleteCatching up on my Blog reading... Soooo sorry to hear about your "BACK"... Hope you'll be on the mend - SOON!*!*!
We too got lots of S*N*O*W here in Wisconsin... LoVe your "Seasonal Contrast Pics"...
Take Care... Hugs - Jeanine Burkhardt
I am so sorry you got MORE snow. It is beautiful though. We again are going through a cold spell even here in AZ. I LOVE the spring pics of your yard. Can't wait to see it this year!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, You have GOT to get your back in shape soon. Looks like you will have alot of gardening to do. So far this year, we have only had one mild snowfall. Very unusually warm winter for us.
ReplyDelete*Hugs*
Oh my goodness . . . your yard is a summer-time paradise. Your goreous chair looks like the perfect spot for reading:)
ReplyDeleteI do hope that your back is on the mend . . . you are in my prayers.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Oh my goodness--your summer yard is so pretty! Love that chair--I bet you do miss it! I wish we would get some snow--it covers up all the dead and ugly in the yard right now. Can't wait to make things all pretty again--and also be able to paint outside!
ReplyDeleteThe outside of your house is as cute as the inside with all the chippy tables and flowers. What a wonderful garden to relax in.I love your chair too. Take care of your self and before long Spring will be here to make things beautiful again.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I am so happy to hear that your back is a bit better today! I'm confident that the physical therapy will help! I remember how lovely your flowers are in the summer and am so happy that you reposted some pics, especially during this drab month! The snow is so pretty but I love the colorful flowers and your cute decor! That lounge chair looks perfect for sitting, reading and dreaming in the sun! Jamison has one of those fire trucks that he was never really able to ride (to tall). Maybe I'll plant it come spring too! So cute! Maybe you can spray paint flowers on the snow LOL! How about food coloring? It'd be like living in a giant snow cone LOL! I guess we'll just have to wait for spring to get here - soon I hope! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteOh...now I want Spring and Summer to get here!! Your flower gardens are so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your back is doing a little better.
hugs,
Cindy
Your gardens and deck are as beautiful as your home! You have that magic touch! We did not get nearly that much snow here...just a dusting which was good as we had to drive into downtown Chicago this morning.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are making progress with your back...and yes, how silly not to have a cents sign on the keyboard. And how do you get those accent symbols for names like Jose and Chloe...etc?!!! I am getting very sleepy here! ;-D
XO,
Jane
Love your summer yard and flowers!!!!!! And that chair just beckons you to come relax...do you bring it in every night to keep it so fresh looking?? Hope your back is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteHi JoAnn,
DeleteThanks for coming by. I do not bring that cover in at night. I just cover the chair with a plastic cover if it looks like rain otherwise I leave it alone. It gets a little faded from the sun but I just think it makes it more vintage looking!!!! I throw it in the wash maybe once during the summer months. So pretty easy peasy care.
Kris
darling garden pics, kris!! my favorite would be your ruffled chaise on the deck surrounded by the flowers--heaven:) we are the same age--maybe, backs go out when you hit that age!? take good care!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn,
DeleteI told my daughter when she had our first grandchild 2 years ago that I was too young to be a grandma but with what has been going on with my back I really do feel like a grandma!!!Ha Ha!!!! I am hoping some physical therapy will help and I will be back to some kind of normal soon.
Kris
The snow is heading our way, and we're supposed to get over a foot Sunday night. Shame on me, but I hope we get it and I get a snow day on Monday! I'm just like a kid hoping for a day off of school. :)
ReplyDeleteYour summer gardens are just beautiful, Kris. I think I'd be relaxing on your pretty chaise lounge reading magazines and sipping iced tea every chance I got! Thanks for sharing a bit of summer fun!
Oh, Kris, you are such a tease! I just can't wait for those days again....only for us it will not be here! I should dig up some old pics for memories sake! Look what beauty you have around the corner!
ReplyDeletePretty but we have too long before that sunshine and warmth! Did you make the cover for your chair? It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynnie,
DeleteThanks for coming by. I did not make the cover. I wish I could say I did but I do not sew. I bought it from a company on line.
Kris
Kris, I've been away from my computer for awhile and just read about your back-I'm so sorry but I'm glad you're feeling better! (My back went out last year for about a week and it was awful!!) Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I'm longing for that sunny warm weather again...thanks for a taste :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Glad you are getting some of your back strength back, Kris. I love the photo tour of present, past and what will hopefully be your future soon! Just seeing a comparison of the Winter to the Summer makes me feel for you all up North. Love the look of the snow and cold, but the colors in your yard during the Spring and Summer are quite a sweet eye full. Make sure you take care of yourself so that you don't have to spend all your Spring and Summer on that chair. You will have weeds to pull and holes to dig and flowers to water. I think you better work hard at that physical therapy this week! Take care, Liz
ReplyDeleteI sent you sunshine the other day... and it came right back to me today! That's karma... thanks for all the lovely sunshiney pics of your gorgeous garden, why doesn't that surprise me that the outside is as lovely as the inside! Where do you get all your energy from? LOVE that chair, would love to join you on that beautiful porch! We are expecting at least a dozen inches of snow here in Minnesota in the next couple of days... POOH! I'm ready for the garden! Hope your feeling better and good luck with the therapy... it will help get you back to yourself!
ReplyDeleteHugs and sunshine,
Pendra
Kris, you have a gorgeous garden! I hope your neighbors appreciate it. Just beautiful. And your chair ... I want to come over and sit there and read magazines too! I'm like you ... I yearn for summer. I've never been a fan of winter.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, Wow, What a beautiful garden and I am sooo in love with your pretty chair. I am a new follower. xx, Sherry
ReplyDeleteThat little red fire engine is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a snowy day here in Colorado and oh how I love it! We need the moisture so bad, we will be on water restrictions this spring and summer :( I loved seeing your gardens and how you bring decorating elements outside. I have been trying to do that more but it's such a fine line of "too much stuff". Maybe I will have to do a post like this, too. I did one like this last winter but I think it's time again. Thanks for the inspiration! Can't wait to see your gardens this spring and summer.
