It is another rain filled day here in Chicago Land. Ughhh!!!!
I decided to make some skirts for a few places in my home. I liked the idea of a skirt under my farmhouse sink.
As many of you know I do not sew. Ok a straight line on the sewing machine but that is about it. So I found some black and cream tiers on line and just sewed them across the top to make them fit under my sink. Then I put up a curtain rod and I had a skirt under my kitchen sink!!!!
Simple kitchen sink skirt and little sewing for me!! |

I love them both, how fabulous. The check one for the kitchen just adds tons of farmhouse charm and the ruffle one in the laundry is fabulous. Great projects. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteRuffles - I love ruffles! I am going to do a laundry room redo this summer - this is a new home for us and I have no idea what I want - things just sort of evolve for me - but I LOVE your ruffly laundry room curtain - so pretty. Your home is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Kris, I think I could live in your laundry room...really! The folding table was a fabulous idea! I'm in love with the ruffled skirt (I think I would even wear it! Lol!) Your home just keeps getting more beautiful.....and it's true...all those little touches (like these skirts) finishes out a room so pretty! The touches of black is gorgeous to your kitchen(these are actually my colors in my kit also) One of these days, I'll show pics too...untill then keep the great looks coming!! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie,
DeleteI would love to see your kitchen I bet it is so great. Hope you are having a great week end. How's the little vintage sweetie trailer doing. Ohhhhhh to just look outside and see her!!!!
Kris
Kris, you're just like Samantha on Bewitched. Wiggle your nose and it's done! I love your new kitchen sink skirt and your new laundry folding table is not only cute, you have the added bonus of extra storage space underneath. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMy coffee break is over. Back to my painting projects which seem to be going in slow motion compared to yours. :)
oh!!! LOVE THIS!
ReplyDeletethey look really great....and that ruffled one in your laundry room matches the top curtain very well.

Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteI love both the skirts... the one in the kitchen and the one in the laundry room. I never did find that cow sign like you have in your kitchen and I checked at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods...but I will keep looking every time I go in these stores. I so wish that I had a place to fold clothes in my laundry room...I so dislike having to carry them up the stairs and then fold them.
hugs,
Cindy
Your skirt projects turned out perfect and so nice for hubby to get right on the laundry table. What a handy addition. Somehow we have been in just the right spot and have missed all the rain
ReplyDeleteLove your skirts Kris. I can't sew either, but your projects inspire me to try.
ReplyDeleteLove them both!:)
Oh kris I just love them both..checks and the ruffle one(:)
ReplyDeleteI really like the black/white skirt on your kitchen sink. It goods terrific!. What a great laundry room - nice folding table and you can hide your laundry basket underneath the table and you won't see it. How great is that. You are such a talented lady - love seeing all your great finds and decorating.
ReplyDeleteSorry your weekend is raining - sending a little sun shine your way.
Mary
Your black and white skirt looks so nice with all your white. I love the ruffled repurposed skirt in your laundry room! Raining here off and on too! Not a lot done outdoors but I went and bought sheets and hoping to get new curtains up for the pergola without too much sewing and work! LOL Have a good week-end! Nancy
ReplyDeleteYour skirts are darling!! I especially like the one in the laundry room with the ruffles. Too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Love your cute kitchen sink skirt, Kris! Love that you used something that was basically sewn up already. The drape you used for your laundry room is just gorgeous! I'm still waiting on my folding table for our laundry room. I'll have to start dropping hints. I've already got plans to skirt it once it is built, especially since our laundry sorter sits in this spot and a skirt will be great to hide it.
ReplyDeleteKris I love your sink skirt and your sink!I can only dream of a farmhouse sink....some day <3
ReplyDeleteYour husband did a great job on that table.Hmmmmmm you inspired me!I have a area in my laundry that could use a pretty skirt and a table. Now I can figure out how to do it :-)
xx
Anne
I love your skirts especially the laundry skirt.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amy Jo

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Kris - I love them both - and I'm jealous you have a laundry room - I've never had one in my life - since I've started blogging I've decided that's on my must have list when we move -
ReplyDeleteAs is a farm house sink - with a gingham print skirt underneath.
Thanks for all the inspiration - I may end up with a house exactly like yours at this rate LMHO.............
XOX
Love the laundry room skirt!!
ReplyDeleteFarmhouse sink envy over here!! :-) Want one... but , well, maybe one day.. just not today. You and I are the same... straight lines only. Been in awe of some of the bloggers out there and what they can accomplish.
ReplyDeleteLuv your two skirts. I made one for the sink at our other home and have been towing with doing it to this one. Maybe this is the kick in the seat I needed. (ouch!!)
Happy Weekend Kris.
BIG hugs, Gee
looks fabulous! I love your kitchen!!!!
ReplyDeleteKris, gotta love Terry and and his skills! Your skirts are gorgeous! (You'd never know that you can't sew ;)
ReplyDeleteSusan
You did an excellent job for someone who claims not to be a seamstress!! That ruffled skirt is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. I made a skirt for my kitchen sink too and I love how it softens the look of all the hard surfaces kitchens have.
ReplyDeleteLove it all, Kris! Your kitchen is amazing and the skirt is perfect under the sink. I love that your husband made you that cute table for the laundry room! The skirt is perfect there, too. Love your home as usual!!
ReplyDelete~Shanon
Oh la la la...loving these ruffles!! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteDaisy~
Glad you are still able to get some projects done. Please wish Mr. Junk Chic Cottage a happy father's day. Without him, we would miss so many great ideas of yours.
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
I love the farm house sink. I love the idea of a laundry table. I could so use one at my house.
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, I love the skirts! They really added a nice little charm to your kitchen and the folding table in the laundry room is perfect with that gorgeous skirt! It's the little things isn't it that make such a HUGE difference?! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteI love those curtains - nice job! I think it is so darling to have a curtain under the sink like you have. And the folding table curtain remake was most excellent. Kudos to you!! Sometimes all you need is straight line sewing to create a new look.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and coming week. Wishing you some sunshine along with us in Ohio!
Hugs, Edie
I just found your blog through From My Front Porch To Yours and I am your newest follower. I love your house tour on From My Front Porch To Yours and I find your home decor has a calming effect - Very nice! I would love for you to stop by my blog sometime at http://homeandlifestyledesign.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patty
Hi Kris! These little skirts are adorable! I love how they hide whatever you want to store underneath and add a little touch of whimsy and beauty to their locations. LOVE that ruffle on the laundry room skirt! That is gorgeous! I don't really sew much either. I try, but other than simple projects, I don't do too well. I always wished I could sew better but I guess we can't be completely perfect, now can we? LOL Enjoy the rest of your creative Sunday! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteKris, I love these the one under the folding table in the laundry room is so pretty! Sewing a straight line is more than I can do. I can't even do that. How sad for me when I think of all the projects I would love to do but can't since I have NO sewing skils what so ever.

kris
ReplyDeleteI love your skirts! The ruffles and the checks are both cute.
I've got to do one for my sink-once I get settled.
What a fabulous project. I just love the skirting that you made. That has to make laundry time fun!
ReplyDeleteFabric is the great transformer and the ruffles are amazing in that room. Love your curtain under the sink as well. You are getting so much done!
ReplyDeleteliz
Love love your skirts. I am so like you with the sewing thing. I have also made a skirt from drapes. They are most often cheaper than the fabric you could buy to make your own. Your ruffled one is adorable. Have a great week! Wanda
ReplyDeleteThose skirts are wonderful! I especially like the second one. It's so frilly, fun and unique! Well done!
ReplyDeleteKris, I love what you have done! Great work for a rainy day!
ReplyDeleteLove, love that ruffly skirt!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love skirts and that one is so adorable! I love the way the ruffles aren't in a straight line. I love to sew--just wish I was faster at it :)
ReplyDeleteThat laundry table is fabulous! and the ruffled skirt so cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Silvia
Kris, this looks so amazing! Your laundry window and folding table skit have me swooning! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
I would be happy to fold clothes in that little area.
ReplyDeleteI thought you didn't sew and here you are whipping up 2 skirts. Next thing you know you'll be making pillows.
Everything is so cute.
Love the skirts!! Especially the one with ruffles! So cute. Can't believe as creative as you are that you don't sew! Oh well, you have so many other talents!!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Hi Kris. Really love the skirt under your folding table. Those ruffles are amazing. I can sew if you don't look too closely at the seams but I have a really hard time with ruffles on anything. I've been picking up curtain valances with ruffles at garage sales, etc. They are already ruffled and just a matter of sewing around the edges. Works out pretty well..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteKris you did better than I could do any day of the week! Love it, looks awesome. Btw, your roos, if they turn up missing, it wasn't me!:)
ReplyDeleteGood work Kris!
ReplyDeleteI sew, but I will have to learn to re-love sewing...It is all so cute! great ideas!Makes me think I could use one at my vanity in my bathroom!
hearts,
Betsy
