I had two burlap valances I bought from The Feathered Nest in Morris. I was not sure where I would put them just knew they were too cute to pass up. Since I do not sew I always take advantage of sweet cute sewn items like these when I see them. Kim is one of the shop owners of The Feathered Nest and she is a dream sewer. I just love anything she sews and sells in her shop. Here is how I re purposed these cute valances onto my dining room chairs.
I took the seat cushion off and then just used a staple gun to attach the valances to the chairs. Sorry these pictures are not the greatest I took them at night. |
There you have it a new look for two of my end chairs in the dining room. It just gives a little bling to the chairs. Have a great week. Kris :) Sharing with the Terrific DIY Burlap Ideas |

ReplyDeleteI love what you did with this chair. How simple and it just looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMorning Kris,
ReplyDeleteYour chairs really look so darling.......... a very nice touch to your chairs and dining room area. I have always wanted to do my 2 captains chair with a slipcover with a gathered skirt, but hasn't happened yet............I do sew some, but really have to be in the mood, Plus I am more chicken about sewing things by myself, cause I used to have some friends that sewed. but they have either moved or are working full time now. It was always nice to do it with or at least bounce my ideas off of them, cause I don't want to risk ruining the fabric, etc.......... 2 heads are better than one I always say, cause what one doesn't think of the other one does. One of these days I might get the will and courage to tackle it!!! lol
Guess it just isn't that important to me at this time of my life.
That was a really great idea using the valances, I love to see things repurposed like that............very clever, my dear!! Also like the pillow on the chair too. It is adorable as well, and perfect to go on there.
Hope you are all refreshed after your long but fun trip.
Does take a lil while to get settled back in doesn't it..............but it is well worth it. lol
Take care and have a good rest of the week hon,
Blessings, Nellie

Hi Kris, I love them! I just painted to chairs white for my basement kitchen table. I took the seats off to recover in burlap. Going to try printing an image on the burlap. Thinking I might need to add a ruffle after seeing your beauties!

I love the little shades and what you did to them. I once cut holes in potting baskets, tied a bow around and used them as shades. That chair, what a new way to do the ruffle, simple but I would have never thought of it. Love the chair. Alaina
