New Armoire. We got stock doors at Home Depot and then added the old posts and old door knobs and crown molding. |
I rehung my old clock back up and added that little chippy chair to this corner. |
Love this chippy little chair. |
I had originally got this old chippy salvage piece to put on the armoire but that did not work out so I thought it would look good over the door in the entry way. |
Still loving my chippy church window and shutters against the new grey walls. |
As you can see I started on some of my Christmas in the mix of redoing the living room! I moved the old grey ladder that was behind the chair in the living room to the hall. |
I started some Christmas decor in the entry way. |
Love this vintage birdhouse I got from Jeanine from Chippy Shabby at the flea market. It has the cutest little feet. I added some love birds and some Christmas greenery. |
Here is my old gate hanging with a new Christmas wreath I got at Mark's Shop 363 in Naperville. He makes the prettiest stuff for Christmas. |
My watering can filled with Christmas flowers and greenery. |

Kris, I really like that you can hide a big tv like that. Your chippy chair is the sweetest thing. You home is beautiful. Can't wait to see all your pretty Christmas decorations. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteCould you send your hubby my way? I would love a new armoire :) it looks fantastic. Also love the chippy chair and where you placed the ladder. I am determined to not start Christmas decor yet, even though blogs are posting this already. We are not getting a tree this year so decor will be minimal here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece for the TV! And to think, my husband mentioned an 80" TV not too long ago - are you kidding me?? No way, I say! Your home looks beautiful, Kris. I'm ready to begin holiday decorating too, but I'm hosting a family event this coming weekend, and I don't want to jump in and have a mess half-way through, so I guess I'll wait.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I am in awe of your husband! I can't believe he built that beautiful piece...so talented. Your room and house looks wonderful. I haven't started decorating for Christmas yet but will start earlier than usual this year. Love your wreath.
ReplyDeleteHe did a beautiful job! I like how he used old parts and new parts!
ReplyDeleteThat armoire is such a smart solution for the large t.v. The room looks so good and I love the chippy chair, too.
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, your husband is so talented - what a beautiful chest to hold your TV. I love your new look and the Christmas decorations - fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI hope to start my decorating this coming week - just have to dig it out of the garage LOL.
Have a great week.
Mary
It looks great, Kris! Love the new color. That armoire you guys put together looks great. What a focal point in the room! I'm not ready to decorate for Christmas yet, but I am planning out in my head what I'm doing this year. I'll be getting started the day after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful armoire.
ReplyDeleteKris
ReplyDeleteYour husband is so talented! I wanted to pin your armoire to show my hubby. It's perfect for our oversized TVs.
The only thing I can say about the LR is that it's all beautiful.
I'm thinking Christmas now that Thanksgiving and Halloween are both over with.
Love everything I see.
ReplyDeleteWish my home looked the same !!
Have a great new week.
I love the way you and your husband came up with a custom solution for hiding the big t.v. It makes such a huge difference to be able to make the t.v. "go away" when you don't want to see it.
ReplyDeleteYour touches of Christmas are looking really pretty!
Everything in your house always looks fresh and clean. Love your touches for the holidays you have done so far.
ReplyDeleteKris your hubby did an amazing job on that armoire...love it!! Your living room looks beautiful...love that chippy little chair and love the metal gate with the wreath hanging from it!
ReplyDeleteMorning Kris, I think your armoire' is perfect! LOVE the new with the mix of old...Terry did a outstanding job! Your paint color is so fresh....I enjoy a hint of gray! Oh...that gate, I just LOVE that gate!! The wreath is perfect! I won't be doing any "serious" decorating until we move...so I will be enjoying yours and others this Holiday season! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent solution. Sometimes I think people try so hard to hide the television that they manage to make it more obvious; this is perfect.
ReplyDeletePerfect! That husband of yours is a keeper! We have a huge TV too. I couldn't find an armoir either. Your living room is beautiful and I can't wait to see it decked out for Christmas! Hope you have a great week Kris! Have fun decorating :-)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I wish my hubby was that talented! What is the wall color/brand? So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHI Carol,
DeleteThe walls are painted with Behr paint from Home Depot and the color is called Gallery White. It just has a tint of grey in it. It is a really soft and pretty color. Hope that helps.
Kris
Kris, your armoire turned out amazing!! Terry is so talented! I love your Christmas decor that you've started-the wreath on the gate is gorgeous, and I love the birdcage in the frame-so fun! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
So great that your hubby can make things like that! Love that you can hide the television! Your rooms are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo fresh and beautiful Kris. I am moving in your house lol...looks clean and bright! The armoire is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletehis cabinet is fabulous, kris! love the wispy wreath on your pretty gate:) the birdhouse in the frame is adorable, too! have a great week:)
ReplyDeleteWell, Kris, when your hubby retires, he's already got a custom furniture business set up for him! Fabulous custom armoire to hide the big TV that really wouldn't fit in with your color scheme! I love the posts and door knobs you used in the construction. Your gray walls are a subtle change, but really make a difference in the room. I love your wreath you've got hanging on your gate, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThe armoire is fabulous and I love the custom touches, especially the hardware. I think Terry may be able to start his own little business. :) Everything looks wonderful Kris
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Chris, I love the armoire and it is a great solution for a large TV. He did a great job with it! The gate with your new wreath is gorgeous and I love the birdcage in the picture frame. Looks like it might be a challenge to hang it!! It sure looks neat. I'm with you, the earlier the Christmas stuff goes up, the more relaxing December is...........Have a great day! Blessings, Linda
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful room! Love all the pieces you've brought together.
ReplyDeleteSigh.....I love your house. Your armoire is a perfect fit for your room. I still have to come up with an idea for mine as my cottage is TINY. Also really liking your birdhouse hung perfectly in front of a frame. Ingenious!
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
Terry is so talented.
ReplyDeleteWe don't own a television and one of a long list of reasons is that I hate the look of them. When we first downsized (before flat screens were affordable) we bought a large armoire to hide the television, but it just took up so much space in our tiny living room. When the kids were gone, we realized that the television was never on so we gave it away and sold the armoire. Now that there are flat screen televisions, I would consider having one, but where to put it to hide it when not in use. We are thinking of a painting that hangs over it.
I love your beginning Christmas decor. I won't start until Dec. 1 and then I add something new each day.
That is one gorgeous piece of furniture...love it and that chippy chair!
ReplyDeleteLoving your new paint and your Christmas bits! Gorgeous, and the chippy chair is the perfect amount of warmth. Love it all. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely! Wish you could paint my house!
ReplyDeleteHubby did a great job on your cabinet!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Such an awesome idea! The armoire turned out perfect! I love your new lamps. They look great and I can't wait to see what you do with the shades.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amy jo
Oh..i love the solutions of hiding the big tv. The armoire, the chip chair, the birdcage, the church window and the Christmas decors are gorgeous! . I can' t wait to see the next.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Alessandra
FABULOUS job! Love everything.
ReplyDeleteJudi in the UK
What a wonderful job your hubby did making the Armoire for you! I like the old chipping sign over the door and your newly decorated living room looks great! How do you keep the ladder from falling over in the hallway? Nancy
ReplyDeleteGorgeousness all the way around!! LOVE the armoire and now you've got my wheels spinning. Our big flat screen is out in the open and I hate it, but you're right, normal sized armoires aren't big enough to fit it. I love this idea of creating one with regular doors. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, oh my I am stunned and very impressed at what a beautiful cabinet your husband built. You'd never know it housed a large flat screen tv inside - so pretty! It caught my eye over at the A Stroll Thru Life Party!
ReplyDeleteMarie@InteriorFrugalista
Love the armoire...so pretty!! My hubby is a woodworker and I have some pieces that he has made over the years. We used to live in a tourist town and had a shop there. Sometimes it was hard to have him made a piece and then see it go out the door to someone else's home. Your hubby did an awesome job making yours.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Oh Kris I have died and gone to heaven. Everything is so beautiful. I wish I was lucky enough to be able to hide out tv but it is just too big. I'm told it's a guy thing. (Frown). That chippy little chair it DELICIOUS and I love the hanger with the old door plate and basket near the door. I could go on and on. As always, your No. 1 fan, Julie xxx
ReplyDeleteO, Kris. It is looking so beautiful. Kudos to hubby. What a talent. That is really pretty and perfect. That TV (as wonderful as it is) would have stuck out like a you know what in church in your beautiful decor. I just love it all, as usual..Happy Tuesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteOh my! Somebody has the painting bug! LOL! It looks so beautiful! Terry made that armoire? He really is so talented! We have a 52 incher in the basement family room and it doesn't fit into the wall unit we had there. We had to remove part of the cabinet to get it in there. No doors though but at least it's in the basement. Love the little Christmas touches starting to appear! I was really in a holiday mood yesterday, looking at pics on Pinterest and Etsy of Christmas décor. I told Jim to look out! As soon as I can move around, I'm going to be a whirlwind around here! Have fun with your projects! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteWow your armoire is gorgeous girl! Terry did a beautiful job! He may have to moonlight as a furniture artist! You both could open your own shop with all of your creativity!

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing armoire! You're lucky hubby can put that together for you. And I adore your shutters, gate and windows on the wall. Glorious whites!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, everything is beautiful. I love your decor. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteI love visiting with you Kris...you've got a great start on the holidays and I love the armoire!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic job Kris, I love the birdcage hanging in the frame and that piece over the door. What a fantastic job the hubs did on that armoire. I am trying to get my husband to agree to have our TV put in something in the new house but I am not having much luck. I am going to keep working on him.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I really LOVE how everything turned out in that gorgeous room! That armoire is beautiful. Your husband is very talented! Imagine what that would've cost if you had to buy that brand new. I love all of the white and grey touches. That little tote with the flowers hanging out of it next to the door is adorable.
ReplyDeleteIt is all SO WHITE and OH SO PRETTY!!! I want my home to be this white...it began that way and then somewhere a long the way dark woods got added...the men in my life didn't like all the white! hmph...so now I am AS chalk painting everything. Your cottage is beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE seeing photos of your home. So inspiring!
ReplyDeletethat armoire is incredible! Terry is so talented!! what did you do with the old TV cabinet...just curious. everything else looks lovely...the grey and white is very serene! when you need a color jolt for a couple hours, come over, it's like a crayon box in here...and i'm not sure that's the best thing, ha!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove all the new tweaks, Kris. But my favorite (of course!) is the birdcage in the frame. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for always inspiring!
Hugs,
Patti
Your room looks amazing - I love all the white. The cabinet your hubby made is fabulous too. Thanks for sharing at Silver Pennies Sundays! x
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, your armoire is gorgeous! My t.v. sits on top a cabinet and it's not my fav. Would love it concealed! I love your new birdcage. So cute how it Is framed. Great start on your Christmas decorating. Love it so far! I am having the whole family so won't do much until afterwards. I hate that it is so late this year. May get a start of the living room the week before. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
