After taking down the Christmas decor I decided to start the change up a few things that were easy peasy.

| I flip flopped my bedroom drapes with the living room drapes. These are not as fufu for the living room space. |

| The Shabby Chic Rachel Ashwell curtains with the ruffles are better in the bedroom. I love that I have a big picture window in my bedroom. It lets a lot of light in and I can see out into the garden area so I really do not want a heavy cover up on this window. So these curtains from the living room let in a lot of light. Easy Change up just switching out curtains and getting a whole new look in each room. |

| I have had this old grandfather clock for years. I got it a Montgomery Wards years ago. It is not the real deal and it has been several colors through the years. I have always loved this clock. It stopped working a while back so I just did not want to part with it so this is what I came up with. |

| I married the clock I had hanging on the wall with the grandfather clock. The hubby attached the wall clock to this grandfather clock. Easy fix and I still have both the clocks I love but now this one is working. |

| It was just a matter of taking the door off and attaching the new clock to the top of the grandfather clock. Then I painted the non working pendulum and weights to shabby it up some. Now I have a "new" old grandfather clock. I am excited to start to transform my kitchen. Just some fresh paint and a little cabinet up do and restyling. I hope to start that after the first of the year. No money spent transformations are about to begin! Have a wonderful New Year. I need to get busy with changes we need to make. Steve and I are off to Santa Barbara today to visit a reclaimed wood business. We want to make some changes to our dining room table and have decided that we can do it ourselves.

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a few simple switches can do to a room. I do that a lot myself. It's fun to use things in new places and in new ways. The best part is using your creativity and not your pocket book! I often think that anyone can just go buy the look they want, but few can use their resources to get the look. So, when it's done on a budget, it means more to me. I think it's a lot more fun that way too. Love that grandfather clock makeover.

ReplyDeleteThat was exactly what I did in 2013, spent no money and accomplished what I wanted. Sometimes I had to wait a little longer but it can be done. I need to redo my office right now and I was searching through what I had and trying to make it work. Good for you and Happy New Year!

Love the clock...it looks great. I like what you are doing for 2014...getting a new look with using what you already have. My goal for this new year is to get brave enough to paint more of my pieces white. First piece will by a wood trunk that my hubby made for me 35 years ago.

ReplyDeleteLooks great Kris! I have been doing the same thing since the Christmas decs got put away. I've pulled out stuff I've been hoarding and am decluttering stuff I don't love or just don't fit right. Moving things to different rooms and okay, I've made a few purchases but mainly for the main bedroom which never gets any attention so I don't feel too guilty. :) I'm sure there will be a new house tour coming soon. ;) Take care and Happy New Year. ReplyDeleteHey Kris! Loving the changes. Don't you guys take your decorations down early? Most people in the UK don't take them down until the 6th January. Mind you, by then I'm ready for a change, but because everything always looks so bear I tend to take a few things down each day so that I don't miss all the sparkle quite so much.
ReplyDeleteCurrently in the process of putting up shelves in my new craft room, and am using my FABULOUS electric mitre saw that Paul bought me for Christmas - strange present for a woman, but hey, I'm over the moon with it, and it's already making this job SO much quicker!

Love your changes already, with many more to come I bet! Along those lines, I have always 'shopped my house' and traded things around. In fact, our attic is my in-home antique shop! I drag things down from there that have been put away since we were young marrieds....many years ago! I was needing a lamp to put a shade on that I wanted to use and remembered a lamp in the attic that has been up there for years. Voila! A perfect match, with no money spent. Love those bargains. I hope to do more of that this year - use what I have on hand - both in business and my home. I have a lot of stuff in inventory and I hope to use some of it up and sell it this year to bring in more supplementary income for this family!

ReplyDeleteMy Word for 2014 is Create. My first project for January is new flooring. We are changing our carpeting to vinyl plank because of all the pets that are living here right now.
One last thing. Please forgive me for not emailing you sooner to thank you for my bag. I have no excuse or explanation. Just procrastination. I love my bag. I used it the first day to take the bus to my mental health appointment. It helped me as I don't often have to take a bus. It was a kind of comfort to me because of our friendship.
