Can you Say Let It Snow!

Happy New Year Everyone.  Ours is starting out with a bang here in the Chicagoland suburbs.  Mother Nature is packing a punch for all of us.

The snow fall started on New Year's Eve and has not stopped.  We are suppose to get around 11 to 15 inches before it is done tomorrow.

Look at the size of these icicles hanging from the house!  Baby it's cold and snowy outside so I am staying inside.
Hope you are staying warm and cozy where you are.
Might have to go outside later and make a snowman or stay inside with hot cocoa and pinterest! Yep, Hot Cocoa and Pinterest wins!!!!!
Stay warm and cozy.
Kris

  2. I am going to have to find something "red" to put in my yard so that I can experience that beautiful contrast with the snow. Beautiful pictures. Snow is falling now in New England...we're expected to get 15" as well on the South Shore.

  5. Oh wow, Kris, that kind of snow kinda scares - it can do so much damage while it looks so pretty! We're supposed to get a mere 2-3" this evening, and I'm hibernating with just that! Stay safe & warm, my friend!

    1. Hi Rita,
It is light and fluffy snow so that is good I guess so it hopefully will not hurt the tree branches. It is just a lot of it! Stay warm.

    1. Hi Gee,
Yep it is more fun to look at it than to be in it!!!! Staying inside today and just watching it continue to come down. Hopefully by tomorrow it will stop and they can keep up with clearing the roadways. This is winter in Chicago!!

  12. I forgot to mention that those icicles are HUGE! Does that happen a lot when it snows there? Is it common for them to be that big? They look so dangerous.

    1. Hi Kristin,
It happens sometimes not all the time. It was warmer and the icicles formed when it got colder overnight with the snow. Hopefully they will melt when it warms up.

  16. If nothing else, it looks beautiful, Kris! I hate when it snows because I basically stay in, whether I want to or not. We are forecast to get about 6 inches but it is blowing around now. I did get to do some sewing though so it's not a total loss!

  17. We're seeing a lot of the same here, too. I think the snow is so pretty, so long as I don't have to drive too far in it! :) Stay warm!

  18. love the photo with the red birdhouse. the snow looks so nice and soft, but as a misplaced Yankee....I know how cold it really is, lol. So pinterest and hot cocoa is a better bet.

  20. That is so pretty! I can't believe how much snow you've gotten! We haven't seen snow in years here in GA. We got some cold air today and the temps will be dipping into the teens next week. But still................no snow for us. I guess if you ever get sick of it, just move to GA and you'll be snow free!. LOL.

  21. It really is beautiful if you don't have to go outside or travel anywhere! We've just got the cold weather, with no snowfall in the near future. I hope you get shoveled out soon, Kris!

p.s. It looks like you've been painting everything white outside, too. :)

  24. Hi Kris, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comment. I hope you do the chalkpaint backsplash, it's cheap to do and fun. I'm thinking of going all the way up on just one wall which is the one with the door, I'm going to redo too but very budget friendly♥ I hope you have a healthy New Year ahead.

  33. If I am skiing, then I love to see everything covered in white.

It all looks beautiful, but I am so cold in our house right now even with a fire in the fireplace and the heater on. It is 53 degrees outside!

I don't know how you do it!

  37. Kris beautiful pictures of all that snow. We got hit last night in NJ with snow but not as much. Man is it frigid here today too! It is ironic, I wish I could be outside helping my husband shovel with my girlfriend. I should be happy I am inside where it is warm. Nutty, I know.

  40. Looks like the perfect snowman making snow Kris. I am keeping up with all the snow up there via my son. I was lucky to get out of Chicago and New York with just dustings of Merry Christmas snow. :) Happy New Year and stay warm xo

  43. Wowzer! Those there are some dandy icicles! lol! It certainly does look pretty. I especially love that first photo with the pop of red birdhouse! It's been pretty warm here lately. Still have snow on the ground, but nice temps.

  44. No new snow...but super cold here!! Agree, Pinterest and cocoa is the BEST idea :)

  45. I vote for hot cocoa and Pinterest too! We have had some snow but nothing like you have there! Look at your little birdhouses getting swallowed up by the white stuff! And those icicles! Cool looking but geeze, don't stand underneath one! They're kind of creepy in a way, like icky tentacles reaching down from the roof! Bet you needed that visual, didn't you? LOL! I love snow days though, when you don't have to go anywhere and can sit and watch the beautiful snow falling. Have fun and stay warm! Hugs, Leena
