Happy New Year Everyone. Ours is starting out with a bang here in the Chicagoland suburbs. Mother Nature is packing a punch for all of us.
The snow fall started on New Year's Eve and has not stopped. We are suppose to get around 11 to 15 inches before it is done tomorrow.

WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteYep! That was my statement too WOW!!!!
Deletethe first picture with the birdhouse would make a lovely Christmas card come December! I was born in Michigan but I no longer live up north because of this kind of weather....lovely to look at but no thank you!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Linda I have to agree pretty to look at but not so much to get around in!!! I am staying in today and hopefully by tomorrow they will have this stuff cleared.
DeleteKris
I am going to have to find something "red" to put in my yard so that I can experience that beautiful contrast with the snow. Beautiful pictures. Snow is falling now in New England...we're expected to get 15" as well on the South Shore.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm with you guys getting the snow too. It is a lot!!!! Pretty to look at but hard to get around in.
DeleteKris
So pretty! I love snow but actually don't miss it! However I do miss building a snowman. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris- It is so pretty in spite of how miserable it an be with the temps and all. We are supposed to get more this weekend. Packers will be playing here in sub-zero weather- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGo Packers!!! I can say that now that the Bears are out!!!!
DeleteOh wow, Kris, that kind of snow kinda scares - it can do so much damage while it looks so pretty! We're supposed to get a mere 2-3" this evening, and I'm hibernating with just that! Stay safe & warm, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Rita,
DeleteIt is light and fluffy snow so that is good I guess so it hopefully will not hurt the tree branches. It is just a lot of it! Stay warm.
Kris
I do remember those days living in Cleveland and Chicago and tat's why I am in Sunny California. I am still cold and it's going to be 80 today. Love the snow but not to live in.
ReplyDeleteStay in and be warm....
Mary
Oh Mary to have 80 degrees!!!!! We won't see that for months. Enjoy.
DeleteKris
Beautiful pictures! My boys sure would have fun playing in all of that snow! Those icicles are scary though!
ReplyDeleteLove the icicles, we are getting the same here with bitter cold temps. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty, but so cold!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Stay warm and cozy. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteOh my! How beautiful Kris. But I must say, beautiful to look at but I would hate to have to be out and about in it.
ReplyDeleteStay warm :)
Happy New Year!
Hi Gee,
DeleteYep it is more fun to look at it than to be in it!!!! Staying inside today and just watching it continue to come down. Hopefully by tomorrow it will stop and they can keep up with clearing the roadways. This is winter in Chicago!!
Kris
That looks so beautiful. I've never seen snow like that before. I hope you get to enjoy it.... from indoors. ;0)
ReplyDeleteKristin
I forgot to mention that those icicles are HUGE! Does that happen a lot when it snows there? Is it common for them to be that big? They look so dangerous.
ReplyDeleteKristin
Hi Kristin,
DeleteIt happens sometimes not all the time. It was warmer and the icicles formed when it got colder overnight with the snow. Hopefully they will melt when it warms up.
Kris
Wow it looks sooooo cool there, brrrrrr! I love the pics thought. I used to live in Ohio as a child and I loved playing in the snow and sliding on the ice, I miss that!
ReplyDeleteI meant to say COLD not cool, no way is it just cool lol.
DeleteKris, we're getting dumped on, too...but not quite as much as you guys are getting! It's a winter wonderland and I'm hibernating! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Wow!!!Fairy pictures! I love to see the snow outside in a so beautiful place but i agree with you to stay inside!
ReplyDeleteKisses
Alessandra
If nothing else, it looks beautiful, Kris! I hate when it snows because I basically stay in, whether I want to or not. We are forecast to get about 6 inches but it is blowing around now. I did get to do some sewing though so it's not a total loss!
ReplyDeleteWe're seeing a lot of the same here, too. I think the snow is so pretty, so long as I don't have to drive too far in it! :) Stay warm!
ReplyDeletelove the photo with the red birdhouse. the snow looks so nice and soft, but as a misplaced Yankee....I know how cold it really is, lol. So pinterest and hot cocoa is a better bet.

GORGEOUS photos Kris!! You sent the snow our way...it's been snowing here all day and it's not going to end until tomorrow afternoon...I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! I can't believe how much snow you've gotten! We haven't seen snow in years here in GA. We got some cold air today and the temps will be dipping into the teens next week. But still................no snow for us. I guess if you ever get sick of it, just move to GA and you'll be snow free!. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt really is beautiful if you don't have to go outside or travel anywhere! We've just got the cold weather, with no snowfall in the near future. I hope you get shoveled out soon, Kris!
ReplyDeletep.s. It looks like you've been painting everything white outside, too. :)
It all looks so beautiful! It's snowing here in Kentucky tonight :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty snowfall! But nice to see it from inside and looking out. We are expecting record setting cold next week...like in the 50 degree below zero windchill! Yikes! I like your idea of Cocoa and Pinterest. works for me!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comment. I hope you do the chalkpaint backsplash, it's cheap to do and fun. I'm thinking of going all the way up on just one wall which is the one with the door, I'm going to redo too but very budget friendly♥ I hope you have a healthy New Year ahead.
ReplyDeleteRondell
I guess the Farmer's Almanac was right..we are in for a very cold winter…stay warm..the pics are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is a winter wonderland for sure...too bad it is so treacherous. Stay warm and safe. xo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I hope your roads are okay. So far we had a colder than normal December and January is starting out cold but with no precipitation. Pinterest and Hot Cocoa would win for me too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought the 5 inches we got today was a lot!! Your yard sure looks beautiful all blanketed in snow. Pinterest and Cocoa sound like a great thing to me.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Yep! Looks like that here too but those are some huge icicles you have!!! Pretty looking out as long as I don't have to go out in it! Enjoy the beauty! Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh Kris... your pictures are so beautiful. It looked like that here a few days ago before a big freeze of bitter cold came in again and hardened everything. Stay warm... and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt loos so pretty :) I am thinking again this year we might have no snow :(
ReplyDeleteche meraviglia queste foto con la neve!
ReplyDeletebellissimo tutto!
un abbraccio da Roma!

If I am skiing, then I love to see everything covered in white.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks beautiful, but I am so cold in our house right now even with a fire in the fireplace and the heater on. It is 53 degrees outside!
I don't know how you do it!
Beautiful snow! It looks like a lovely winter wonderland. I'm with ya' on the hot cocoa and Pinterest...we got snow here last night and that's going to be part of my plan for the day too! Have fun.
ReplyDeletexo,
Kathleen
Not as much snow here in WV but enough to close schools and make driving dangerous. A bit of a break for the weekend then bitter cold and snow Monday and Tuesday. I am ready for spring!
ReplyDeleteBrrr! Inside with cocoa and pintrest is right!
ReplyDeleteKris beautiful pictures of all that snow. We got hit last night in NJ with snow but not as much. Man is it frigid here today too! It is ironic, I wish I could be outside helping my husband shovel with my girlfriend. I should be happy I am inside where it is warm. Nutty, I know.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Hi Kris, wow how pretty your yard looks covered in snow. We have about 6 to 10 inches too. It started snowing last night and it is only 10 degrees here! I am making soup to stay warm and I hope you do too. I guess I should get out later and take some pictures too! Lol. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Oh My................pinterest and coffee would look like a realllllllllllly good thing to me if I was in your shoes.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a Happy New Year, at least it's a white New Year, goes with your decor and all!! lol
Try and stay warm hon,
Blessings, Nellie
Looks like the perfect snowman making snow Kris. I am keeping up with all the snow up there via my son. I was lucky to get out of Chicago and New York with just dustings of Merry Christmas snow. :) Happy New Year and stay warm xo
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks so pretty! We are supposed to get a little tomorrow but nothing like what you guys are getting. Unfortunately we are getting the bone chilling temps that you are. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
~Des
we live in the south and we are freezing. lol. I do not envy your snow, makes me cold just looking at it...although is very pretty to look at. I am already looking forward to Spring.
ReplyDeleteWowzer! Those there are some dandy icicles! lol! It certainly does look pretty. I especially love that first photo with the pop of red birdhouse! It's been pretty warm here lately. Still have snow on the ground, but nice temps.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
No new snow...but super cold here!! Agree, Pinterest and cocoa is the BEST idea :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for hot cocoa and Pinterest too! We have had some snow but nothing like you have there! Look at your little birdhouses getting swallowed up by the white stuff! And those icicles! Cool looking but geeze, don't stand underneath one! They're kind of creepy in a way, like icky tentacles reaching down from the roof! Bet you needed that visual, didn't you? LOL! I love snow days though, when you don't have to go anywhere and can sit and watch the beautiful snow falling. Have fun and stay warm! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteToo much snow for me!!!!
