I am such a summer girl and just hate the snow and cold after Christmas. So I decided to do some inside projects to keep me sane. I going to stick to my new year project challenge to do these changes spending very little money and using what I have.
I am starting with my kitchen.
Got everything down and just need to spackle and get the walls ready for paint. |
I will be making a new skirt for the farmhouse sink. |
In case you were wondering where all the decor from the kitchen went well it was moved into the dining room for now!!!! |
I will be playing and rearranging things that will go back into the new kitchen. Going for a different look other than farmhouse so a lot of this stuff will not be going back up. |
I keep gravitating towards the color picket fence. Looks grey in this picture but it really is white with a hint of cream/ivory. |
I can't wait to see your new kitchen Kris! x Julie
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you've got planned for your kitchen, Kris! My kitchen is the next room to be painted and you've got everything so organized, you make it look easy! I've got cabin fever too, but unfortunately I've got to go to work today. I was hoping they would cancel appointments today and I could stay home and do what you're doing, but that will have to wait for another day. I hope my car starts tonight when I'm ready to go home!! Stay warm. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a plan for two rooms to be repainted in 2014! I will be watching your kitchen progress.
ReplyDeleteKris, without a doubt it will be beautiful! You aren't taking down all of your open shelves, are you? They are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm on a mission not to spend too. Honestly, I don't even want to go to a store now anyway. :)
I can't believe how cold it is where you live. Sounds excruciating to me. It's 12 degrees here right now and we are in shock.
Yes, good time of year to get those inside projects done. Can't wait for the reveal. Gosh, I'm glad I don't live where you do. I don't like the cold and we are setting records here. I'm staying in. Keep warm.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all are beautiful, especially coordinate colors, so classy. I think most "designer" rooms are over done. I like clean and simple. I love sophisticated furniture and décor.Room design
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Kris...I know your kitchen is going to look fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I just found you recently and cannot wait to see your transformation. I would love to have more of a "Nordic" style in my home so I'm letting everyone else do the work and then I'll "borrow" ideas from blogland. I love your home already so I cannot wait to see what you come up with. I too do not want to spend money on a transformation. So hurry up and finish please!lol sincerely, jeannette
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see it. We painted our kitchen a few months ago and what a difference it makes! Have fun. We have about a foot of snow too up here in northern Indiana. Everything is closed today…. It makes me happy because it forces me to get some of the things on my project list marked off.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do!! I am cleaning and rearranging my bonus room...trying to find room for a sewing table. This is the perfect time of year for indoor projects...Have fun and stay warm!! Hey...Maybe we should all do a post on last summers gardens...I miss mine too!!
ReplyDeleteDenise
Soo exciting! I can hardly wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great project to keep you busy and out of the cold, Kris! I really love your kitchen and your beautiful cabinets and gorgeous wood counters! The crown molding will be the icing on the cake:) Gotta love those projects that use what you already have! Super cold and snowy here, too, stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure will keep you busy Kris, I can't wait to see your kitchen all done, it will be fab!
ReplyDeleteKris, I have cabin fever, too!! I'm sure your 'new' kitchen will be gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do, Kris. I love your kitchen "as is" but can understand the need to change things up a bit. This is the perfect time of year to take on a project like this, too.
ReplyDeleteI want to come over and watch your whole process of redecorating you do such a lovely job. I am excited to see what you will do :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd like to shop your dining room right about NOW! That snow must have you going crazy, Kris, because I think you're crazy to paint the kitchen, lol! Seriously, it looked great before, but it will definitely have a clean, fresh look when you're finished. Given that Mr. P. doesn't do well with projects and much change, I think I'll just shuffle papers and read magazines in this month while you and fellow bloggers sink yourselves into all these great projects. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteCan I come and help you with what you aren't going to use? I see some lovelies sitting there. Hope all goes well with the trransformation!
ReplyDeleteI think I have all of those paint chips! And Picket Fence has always been a favorite of mine. I have never had to paint my walls though because when we bought our cottage new 7 yrs ago it was already a lovely white! I look forward to your transformation to nordic cottage...you know that is my heartbeat...my cottage is what I call nordic coastal cottage. You have alot of WHITE inspiration right out your windows!!! xo
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the transformation!!! It will be wonderful, I know!!!
ReplyDeleteCabin Fever won't hit me until end of Feb. or March......I love this time of year with the cold, tons of inside projects to do that don't get done in the fine weather when I'm outside. One thing I love to do is to keep the front door open for 5 to 10 minutes and let the cold wind sweep through the house and refresh the oxygen. Need to replace the dry, stagnant air that builds up with the furnace running all the time. And in the evening, keep candles burning to provide visual warmth and coziness. Also a great time to do tons of ironing!!! Happy Winter to you........
I don't like the cold either. Looking forward to your makeover.
ReplyDeleteRosezeeta.

ReplyDeleteOMG! Girl....this is tooo funny! The Martha Stewart cabinets I have picked out are the picket fence color! Which I was planning on painting the "other" rooms in the cottage the same "picket fence" color!! This is great! Can't wait to see it on your walls! As we speak....my kitchen is totally gutted!! Create your decorating magic....you may give me some beautiful ideas! Roxie

To think you've been doing all the creative work and planning in your kitchen while you had cabin fever...and all I did was eat!
ReplyDeleteI adore the farmhouse sink and that huge wood work surface in your kitchen!! I am staying tuned for the new look.
ReplyDeleteI really can't wait to see it! Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteKris...I can't wait to see your new kitchen after you work your magic in there. I know it will be beautiful!!

After Christmas is my favorite time to re-arrange and play with the decor…17 below???..oh my, I cannot imagine. Glad you are keeping busy and satisfying your creative mind!!…Love the "Picket Fence"
ReplyDeleteKris...your kitchen looks incredibly bare since I saw it this past summer! This is so exciting! Isn't it nice to have everything freshened up with paint? I can't wait to see it...you never make a wrong move when you decorate!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing major work on the lakehouse starting in early spring and are getting bids now. Major stuff like finishing the staircase, putting hardwood floors down in the guest bedrooms. The only major thing we will be doing here is replacing the carpet in our family room. Well, we'll probably tackle more, you know how we women can be!!
Stay warm. Our snow is drifted incredibly high, it's going to be a big slushy mess when it's over.
XO,
Jane
Oh... I so have cabin fever too Kris. We're in the midst of a blizzard right now and the snow keeps getting deeper and deeper. Soon we'll have nowhere to put it. lol. We seriously need a warm up, and it would be nice to see a blue sky. I love room makeovers that are done on a budget by reusing things. Can't wait to see your kitchen when it's all done. Stay warm!!

ReplyDeleteYour post is like a breath of fresh air. I appreciate you and your hubby's creativity. It encourages me so.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Kris.

Oh Kris, I hear you about the cold. It is so cold here in NJ right now but not as bad as you have it and many others. My pups sure hate the freezing cold and the wind we are experiencing right now. I am so excited to see what you come up with. Boy am I missing the creative juices right now but the y are picking up. We are starting to pick our kitchen now. When pieces are final I will discuss them in a post. Have fun!!! Stay warm my friend and keep you pup safe and warm too!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I can' t wait to see the new changes in your beautiful kitchen. You are so creative!

Braver than me. I do not like the chore of painting, but love the idea of having it done! At 61 with a balance issue and some ceilings 30 ft high, most of it 10 ft ceilings, I cannot climb a ladder.
ReplyDeleteWished you lived closer!! LOL
oooOOOooo! Redecorating! How exciting! I can't wait to see it all completed! I would love to do some painting! Have fun and please be sure to share pics as soon as you can! Hugs, Leena xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhatever you come up with in your "new" kitchen will be wonderful!! Anxious to see the finished transformation!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Kris, I loved your kitchen just like it was but I know that you will come up with something even more incredible. I have to tell you that I pinned that garden fencing on your soffits before I ever knew who you were. I think you were spotlighted on a blog.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I love the way the dining room looks like a vintage shop!
