While I was out watering I
looked at my front porch and thought to myself wow it is so boring and no character or personality to it. I have all these pretty flowers, a yellow front door that screams summer and then this cement porch that is just, well a cement porch.
This porch is nothing special actually pretty dull and boring. I hate to use this word but just Ugly! |
This porch needs a little pizzaz to show off the chippy bench and flowers. |
Step One: Power washed the porch and steps. |
Then went to Home Depot and found some Behr restoration paint for decks and porches.
I had yellow in mind with the yellow front door but could not get this product in yellow so went with Colony Blue that is almost the same color as the Vintage Cottage Nest Door with planter. No primmer needed with this product which saved a step of having to prime the cement. This porch paint is just applied onto a clean
dry surface.
This is the first coat. It went on very easy and then we let it dry for a few hours before the final coat. Pretty easy peasy to get a little bit nicer look on the porch. |
There you have it. Just a easy little spruce up to a dull cement front porch. I need to find a cute rug now. I will be off to HomeGoods and Target to see what I might find. |
Love how the painted porch sets off the chippy bench. |
Summer Bike Rental is available. |
Oh how I love summer. |
Just a little FYI before I say good bye. There is a lovely family of baby sparrows living in my birdhouse. I hear their little voices chirping in there. |
Have a good Sunday and great start to the new week. Kris :) |

Just shows what fresh paint can do. Your porch is perfectly fresh and inviting! I love it. All your pretty decorations throughout the yard are so sweet. Enjoy the summer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference the painted concrete makes in the front facade of your home, Kris! Your flowers have filled in nicely already and it's all looking picture perfect! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Love the transformation. What would we do without paint.....Beautiful! Can`t wait to see the rug you choose.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your porch and the paint made such an amazing difference. Beautifully done. Everything looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow! How wonderfully it made everything just pop!
ReplyDeleteThe paint color really makes your cement porch stand out and look beautiful, Kris! Love the color. Great bike rental sign. Have you ever had anyone actually knock on the door asking to rent a bike? : ) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLOVE . . . LOVE . . . LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWe had our front porch done in stone, but have to save up for the back porch. I think until then that I am going to use some Behr paint to spiff it up. I am not sure how to keep Lulu off while it dries. And, I do hope the paint comes in red!
It looks GREAT! I just finished a spruce up on mine yesterday--great minds think alike!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, the front porch looks wonderful. Isn't it amazing what a coat of paint can do. I need to spruce up my cement floor on the front and back porch. After all it is almost 60 years old and does look a bit tired. Your flowers are stunning and I bet your house is the best looking one on the street. The blue color of the porch really sets everything off - great choice.
ReplyDeleteAgain, thanks so much for spotlighting me on Saturday. Have a wonderful sunny week.
Your friend
Mary
Nice! Much more welcoming.
ReplyDeleteWow, Kris, that is a huge improvement!!! It all looks so pretty together (the plant on your front door is incredible btw).
ReplyDeleteI step out in the early morning before the sun is up just to listen to the birds. They are so noisy and sound so happy! :)
Enjoy your day - I'd be out on the front porch with a glass of lemonade to enjoy how pretty it all looks!
xo,
Lin
Wow, love the new color.....it looks beautiful! Your whole porch is so charming :o)

Such a charming birdie story! The difference in your porch is amazing! Pretty gorgeous in blue. I am so in love with summer too!
ReplyDeleteNever underestimate the power of paint :) What a great makeover Kris. Now everything pops. Luv the little birds of summer as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy new week.
Hugs, Gee
OMG you sure do it up right. I thought you would just pressure wash it but all painted as well. Great color choice, it stands out so much mor now. It should be on an edition of Curb Appeal.
ReplyDeleteThe paint made quite a difference, Kris. The color you chose is very pretty and your porch looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Sunday and a wonderful week!
Julia
Kris, you definitely gave your porch some personality and pizazz!! It makes such a difference and the color really compliments your front door nicely! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
What a great color for your porch, Kris! It looks so pretty with the door. I love all the blue, and yellow flowers you have through out your front yard. The porch ties it all together. All of your photos make my heart swoon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you, lovely lady.

Kris,
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Now that made a huge difference out there...wonderful color that you went with.
Blessings,
Linda
Kris,
ReplyDeleteYou're always amazing us with just how pretty you adorn your outdoor spaces. The blue painted porch looks pretty with the yellow door. A small outdoor area rug would be so inviting. Bet before your guests ring that door bell they will sit down on the sweet bench and absorb the beauty of your porch. I love your Daddy bird story. Birds are very protective to their nests. Kris you really make welcoming spots of beauty to your outdoors. Happy Sunday mon amie.
XO,
Vera
I love your porch! The bench and all your details are all well chosen and now the light blue is the perfect compliment to your yellow door. Good luck to Papa Bird to raise his little birdies!
ReplyDeleteLove the color you chose, Kris, and it really made a difference to your front porch. Loved seeing your photos. Are those lobelias around the bicycle? I love lobelias.
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks so pretty now! I have an ugly concrete front porch too... I might have to try the paint you used, I wonder how it would hold up on a porch that gets direct sunlight all day long though.
ReplyDeleteTania
I love it, can you tell me what the yellow and blue flowers are around your tree?
ReplyDeleteLove the color that you did your porch in...so very pretty!! And I love how the painted porch sets off your chippy bench too.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
I have eyed that paint similar to that at Lowes... It is supposed to cover well and easily..filling in cracks and restoring.. I am tempted to paint my back concrete porch.. possibly painting a rug design on it.. Your front porch is just lovely.. love the bike and all the flowers around it.. Beautiful entry into your home.. Good job! Blessings!
ReplyDeletePretty color you used on your concrete stoop. It gives such a clean fresh look.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I need to paint my porch too! It looks great! The little birdies are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amy Jo
The paint color is perfect. Your porch is so pretty, love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY...

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation Kris - and I think the color is absolute perfection !!!
ReplyDeleteTalk about curb appeal - you must be the envy of the block :)

Holy Cuteness! This project is such a prime example of what paint , flowers & a little style can do! I love the color you picked!! I know many people are afraid to paint 'cement' but us DIY-ers will paint anything!! So cute & charming ,love the rustic touches too!

Kris- That looks fantastic. I have had pretty good luck painting cement-except in the girls' playhouse. I think I painted it before it was completely dry so it has bubbled some over the years-and flaked. I think I just need to scrape and repaint but I have a carpet down in there this year.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how it looks- it looks like a fresh new house! And- your sign above your bike gave me an idea for my bike that is on my tree. Do you care if I steal your idea? I might have to make a similar sign. WHAT? NO rental price on your sign? Well, I already know you are charging me double for your GARDEN TOUR so I suppose I will get really ripped off over the bike rental. lol
Have a good night- I am off to bed here in a minute-xo Diana
It's a great transformation, Kris.
ReplyDeleteLobeilia is a favorite of mine for summer pots too
That is wonderful. The power of paint is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me laugh. We have a wooden porch covering an old cement porch. We put the wood over it because we wanted to change where the stairs are. I have the same blue & yellow flowers in baskets and I just purchased the same product - SAME color - for the porch. This was really weird but now I know how good my porch will look after I paint it. I was going to do it today but we had a big rain storm last night so I have to wait a few days. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI really thought your porch was pretty before, and didn't notice anything wrong with it, but I have to say with the new paint it is really gorgeous! The chippy bench *does* stand out better, you knew what you were doing, alright! Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
ReplyDeleteKris your porch looks even more beautiful with the new paint job. I didn't know you could use Deck Over on concrete. It looks so cohesive now. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing - what a make over! Just a bit of paint. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it.
Great job.
it looks great, kris! so fresh and clean:) love that little bench and the blue and yellow flowers surrounding your bike are darling!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, I will say that I liked your front porch just fine the way it was, however, now that you have painted it, I totally see the freshness and it is much more eye catching. I believe driving/walking down your street (although I'm sure people look at your house all the time) people are drawn to slow down by your place just to enjoy it's beauty!! You definitely have a designer eye! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYou made a great job and a lovely transformation! Your front porch is so adorable and all the flowers are gorgeous

ReplyDeleteWow! The blue paint adds the perfect touch to an already lovely porch display. I'm impressed and inspired. I'm off to look at my tiny, boring front porch. Thanks!
ReplyDeletexo jonni xo
Such a beautiful difference. Love, love, love the color. It turned out gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I love what you did with your porch floor! I agree that looks so much better. I need to clean our front porch. I can't believe how late in the year it is and it's still not done! I think we've taken advantage of our back deck more this year. Your flowers look so pretty out front too. You've motivated me to move my porch to the top of the list!
ReplyDeleteYes, that blue did just the right thing for your porch and a little rug will set everything off! Lovely decorating as usual! Nancy
ReplyDeleteyou are the QUEEN of transformations girl! i can;t believe the difference ! oh wow...such curb appeal now (although i thought it was gorge before!!) love this! ;)
