This is my second version. I used a few more flowers. Which one do you think I should keep. Less flowers or more flowers? This will be cute hanging on my front door or maybe in my new entry way decor. We will see.
We are having just gorgeous weather here in Chicago Land. It is in the high 40's and going to 50's. I know that is cold for a lot of you but for us this feels so great. We have been at zero and single digits for so long this is feeling really great.
Hope we have turned the corner on Winter and we will see Spring soon.
Have a great start to the new week. I am getting a lot done in the living room and front entry hope to reveal that soon. Kris :) |
Oh what a fabulous idea. I love both, however the less shows more of the umbrella. So cute.
ReplyDeleteI love both----and I kind of like the lush look but that is just me. You did a great job-what a fun thing to do. I have an old umbrella, too, although it is not French....it is just plain old--like me. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThat is super cute, Kris, and I like the first rendition, a less is more idea. You know what surprises me? That you haven't already painted your umbrella white! I bet you're thinking about it, though, aren't you? :) We're finally turning our backs on winter too - temps rising and staying there in the foreseeable forecast. Yes!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Kris! I like the first photo with less flowers ~ you can see a little more of the umbrella in it.
ReplyDeleteRain is in our forecast this week. And 50 degrees!!! Yipppppeeeeeeee! Come on Spring! :)
Hugs,
Lin
Thanks Lin I already have taken this apart more this morning and took the greenery hanging down out and you see all the umbrella. I like it much better. We might hit 57 this week so excited!!! Have a great week.
DeleteLooks fantastic and for free is a great way to feel good about a new decor piece.
ReplyDeleteLove your French umbrella and I also like the first one too, because you can see more of the umbrella. Both are pretty though! Would you believe I've never gone shopping in downtown Morris? I've been to the French Hen events but never to any of the stores. I need to rectify that soon!! Have you been to Soulful Sparrow in downtown Elgin? I'm lovin' this weather too. Supposed to hit 57 degrees sometime this week. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous display, Kris. You know less is more has never been my thing but I agree with Lin. It is nice to see more of the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteKris, I like the less flowers , it lets the umbrella show a bit more. I am so happy our temperatures are getting warmer in this area. It's seems forever to me. I am so ready to clean out our flowerbeds...yikes, that's going to be a huge job. Blessings to you and your sweet husband, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I like version 1 the best, you can still see the umbrella. Great project!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Kris! Now I want to make one for my front door!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest thing I've ever seen! It would also look great hanging on a front door for the month of April (April showers bring May flowers). I like the first pic the best where the nest is at the top of the arrangement.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, Kris. So perfect for spring. Enjoy the warmer weather!
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute, Kris. LOVE your umbrella with less flowers which looks more light and airy for spring to me. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Kris,
ReplyDeleteLove your umbrella with the sweet button. I prefer less ... Eye can appreciate the umbrella better. So I say ditto to most comments. Enjoy your tropical heat wave headed your way, we too are hopeful for 50 this week.
xoxo,
Vera
Hi Kris, I love the way this looks and perfect for spring. I love the way the umbrella looks with less flowers but they both will look nice with whatever way you choose. Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy the warmer weather. xo
ReplyDeleteI just love what you did with the umbrella. I love the one with less flowers. I'm in the Chicago area also and am looking forward to the warmer temps. It's encouraging to see the buds on the trees!
ReplyDeleteI love it either way. What a great idea. I have a pretty one from Calico Corners, the fabric store made out of Wavery fabric. But, the darn umbrella won't stay open. I will have to try and make some, but the print has lots of pretty flowers and a green background.
ReplyDeleteSo gld that you and Terry had a nice little shopping trip. You are so lucky that he likes to do that. Most men would be home watching SPORTS.
Have a great week and looking forward to seeing all the changes.
Mary
Love the umbrella all decked out for spring! I'm enjoying this "warm" weather too!
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
It's nice to read that you and Terry have been braving the elements and taken some days trips!! The umbrella is adorable and I'm sure by the time you finish fluffing and tweaking it will be a beautiful addition to your entry whether it be outside or in! Sending warm hugs! Blessings, Cindy xoxo
ReplyDeleteSuper sweet and I love that everyone seems to be focusing on welcoming spring now! The trailing greenery is very unique!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! I understand that you see more of the umbrella in the photo with less flowers...but I like LOTS of flowers in arrangements. I'm sure you will re-do the whole thing at least a dozen times...lol. It will look wonderful how ever it ends up, because you always know how to dress things up!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
xo
Oh I love them both! Hmmmmm....i have an old umbrella.....wink...wink!
ReplyDeleteThat is just the cutest idea....I LOVE IT!!! Now I want a French umbrella to decorate with flowers and hang on MY door :o)
ReplyDelete~Des
I love it Kris! Both are beautiful, but in No 1 you can see more of that fabulous umbrella. Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt looks super cute both ways, Kris! I do think I like the "less flowers" look best though because you can still see that portion of the umbrella that is covered by "more flowers". Hope you are melting like we are. There is actually some optimism here in Ohio that Spring is on its way!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris...I prefer the less flowers version but they are both fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHope you and yo man had a great weekend. ;)
So pretty Kris...have always wanted to do "umbrella door decor"....love them both...but for me, more is more!!! :) Glad you had a great time!!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one! See more of the umbrella....but both are pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love both ways! I've always wanted to create a spring front door display using an umbrella, and you've given me plenty of inspiration! So glad to hear that it's warming up for you. Today our temps reached 75! Yay, spring!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and perfect for spring and the coming rain season! I think I. Like the first one better because more of the umbrella shows. love the classic black and white combo. it will show up nice with your all white decor.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I found an old umbrella at the school last year and will use it this spring in a vignette.
ReplyDeleteYour French umbrella is tres chic, Kris! I would love to find one. The first one is my very favorite, what a fun and spring like display!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Kris! I like seeing the umbrella, too!
ReplyDeletePretty parapluie. That would be a useful way to use an umbrella here. :) When we to Italy, we brought a compact umbrella, only one. We needed two, but all they had were longed cane umbrellas. Children kept pointing to my daughter's saying they wanted a little umbrella like hers. Of course, it was not little, full-sized and closed. xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love how with less you can see more of the umbrella but also love the fullness with more greenery so maybe a happy medium somewhere in the middle? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty way to display a gorgeous umbrella. I love the first version. It will look amazing on your front door. What a sweet Spring project.
Hi Kris
ReplyDeleteWell, normally I'm a more is more kind of girl, but on this occasion I think I prefer the umbrella with less flowers. I've seen this idea on pinterest before, and it's one of the MANY items on my 'things to try' list. Love what you've done, as always, lol.
Hugs
Judi in the UK
I love it too Kris! Pretty both ways but I'm kind of liking the first version. Love the cascading arrangement. It'll be perfect either way on your new entry way door. Bringin in spring! I'm ready! Have a great week friend!
ReplyDeleteLove it Kris! It reminds me of the one I had on my door a few years ago, I think I need to pull that back out. I think I put it away because the birds kept making a nest in it LOL! So happy spring is on it's way!
ReplyDelete#1 so you can see more of the umbrella. :) So cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it either way - and my eyes are so bad that I can't even see that much of a difference - BUT I CAN see that I love it - what a pretty idea Kris !
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
xoxo
Oh, I love that French umbrella! That vintage button is so unique too. I think both versions are pretty. So glad you're having warmer weather. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea Kris! I like them both but the one with fewer flowers shows more of the Vintage French Umbrella.
ReplyDeleteKris I'll bet you were itching all the way home from your trip to make this darling umbrella! I know when I have an idea I go nuts until I can go do it. Crazy decorators. I like the picture with more flowers, it's not that much more but it looks nice and full especially if you are going to use it on the front door. I'm glad you are seeing some wonderful sunshine. Have a great day friend. Jo
ReplyDeleteI actually like the one with less because it shows off your french umbrella more. I love your idea, so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteadorable !! i like it best with fewer flowers and more of the pretty umbrella showing...either way is great, tho.
ReplyDeleteLess Flowers because you actually see more of the umbrella brella brella !!
ReplyDeleteVery Cute idea
I have a pastel colored one I may do this with also.
love the greenery dripping over the edges, kris:) our weather is suppose to be better later this week-yay!
ReplyDeleteTough call but after looking and looking I think maybe the first. Notice I said maybe? Thank God you don't have to rely on me. That button that holds it closed is the neatest thing
ReplyDeleteCindy
Adorable! I am going to have to check out that area while visiting this summer!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, love your umbrella! I made one a couple of years ago and still use it each April. My umbrella was not vintage like yours. I love that yours is! I think it looks gorgeous both ways, but I kind of like less flowers because you can see the sweet umbrella a little bit better.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
What a fun project!
ReplyDeleteMy house is not "romantic" at all, at least in decor! But, when I see something like this I wish I had a place to put a romantic umbrella.
Hi Kris! Cute idea! The first version I like better!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteThey are both pretty, but I would go with the first one (less flowers). If you get some time, will you e-mail me, I need some shopping tips from you...thanks.
Blessings,
Linda

That is one of the cutest things I have ever seen...love it LOVE IT, LOL.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course the birds nest, with turquoise eggs .....my fav.
Jen
Very clever idea! The umbrella looks such romantic. It's very pretty with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteKisses

Hi Kris, LOVE your umbrella flower display. The nest is the perfect touch and so spring inspiring. I did one last year with a vintage ivory umbrella and roses with a chalk board tag that said welcome. Your umbrella is a vintage treasure from France!! Love the button closure!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creation!!
Hugs, CM
Love your umbrella with the flowers in it...so pretty and perfect for Spring
ReplyDelete~Cindy.
Hi Kris! Your French umbrella is so cute! I think that I like it with less flowers, but both versions are so pretty and full of spring cheer! Our weather has warmed up too - thank goodness! Right now, I'm sitting in the sun, makes it a bit hard to see the monitor, but it sure feels so nice and warm! Have a great day! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteThe umbrella is perfect and the way you styled it is a really nice view of spring: flowers with a few showers!
ReplyDeleteBoth versions are so pretty, what a great idea. I am on the look out myself for a vintage brolly for my hallway. I am in Chicago land for St. Patrick's day and am having a ball! Hence I'm behind with my blog reading!
