Spring Awaking Garden

Happy Sunday.  I am recovering from my surgery and doing great.  Hope to be back to my old self again soon.

Before I went into the Hospital last Wednesday I decided to take some pics of my spring garden waking up and  some Spring decor added to the porch.

I brought out my wren bird house for a little decor on the porch and added a nest and some faux flowers with the vintage garden sign.  That clever Terry took some pieces of chalk board and put it behind the wholes in the house so the birds could not get in there.  Otherwise I would have birds dive bombing everyone that comes and goes.  Just wanted this house this year for decor on the porch.

This is the nice faux spring flower arrangement my good friend gave me back before Easter.  Love it on my yellow front door.

The daffodils are finally popping open and the perennials are beginning to come to the surface of the garden beds.  It is good to see the brown flower beds start to show green life popping up.
  Love the
pops of bright yellow the daffodils give to the front yard.

My cherub bird bath I use as a feeder in the winter and spring.  Birds look for food more than water in these seasons.  I will fill it with water when I do my May planting of flowers in the garden.  The Robin's love to play in the water.

Daffodils are signs of hope and renewal  so I am so happy to see so many pop up in the yard.

I planted some pansy's I got from the garden center in this old drawer made into a flower box on my cottage nest door.  They are good for the spring weather until it is time to plant summer annuals.

My little design assistant wanted to photo bomb.  She is squinty eyed with the sun.  I am on the hunt for a cute new rug for in front of the door.

This is a "true basset hound face" right here.  The I really don't care look unless of course someone says TREAT!!!!
Here in Chicago land we are starting to hold onto Spring and get some good temps.  The trees and plants are beginning to spring up from their long winter sleep.
Hope you are seeing Spring where you are.
Love these 70 and sunny days.

Love the color of your front door. Your bird house is just gorgeous. Its so windy here all the time,I would never be able to put something like that at our front door. Your assistant is just so cute. Love your front flowers. Enjoy your day and I hope your healing is quick. I am sure you are so happy to be home.

  30. Hi Kris, speedy recovery!!! I am always so jealous of your yard. I know from past years you have the most gorgeous flowers in the summer. Mine...not so great...they are pretty in the spring but then our hot weather seems to sap their energy. I am going to strive to have my petunias, etc. look more like Kris's this summer :)

  32. I like the bird house on the post by your front door. That was a good idea to put something behind the holes to keep the birds out. Although, I bet the birds aren't too happy about that. LOL! All of the pretty flowers really do dress up your home nicely for Spring. Hope this week goes better for you now that the surgery is behind you.

  33. Very welcoming front entry Kris! Love the idea of a large birdhouse on a pedestal at the front door. I bet seeing those daffodils popping out of the ground and being able to spend some time outdoors in the warmer temperatures puts a little smile on your recovery. Enjoy!

  37. All looking beautiful, as always! I just hope the birds don't end up head butting the board that Terry put in to block the holes in the bird house, lol. Actually doesn't bear thinking about really, but it does conjure up a picture.

Your house looks so inviting (as usual) and some place I would love to just come in a stay awhile! Hope you are feeling better and getting your spunk back up and running soon!! Sending you hugs!

  47. Hi Hon! Your front porch looks so inviting and springy! I love all of the decorations and flowers, both real and not. The arrival of the daffodils always makes me smile and get a little bit of rejuvenation. I have a small group of them that used to surround a tree. When the tree died and had to be taken down and the stump ground up, I thought they were lost forever, but they come up every year and have multiplied! I even found one of the other side of the driveway in a garden patch where I hadn't planted it! I bet some critter stole a bulb and left part of it there. We have a lot of critters but fortunately, they don't eat many of my plants. Plus, they are so cute to watch, especially the baby rabbits. Everything here is bursting into color and song and pollen - achoo! Small price to pay for the warmth, sunshine and lovely colors! Libby looks like she is enjoying spring -what about Midge? I haven't seen her lately (that is her name, isn't it?) I bough little sock monkeys with bunny ears for me and Jim for Easter - so cute! Hope you'll be completely healed soon! Hugs, Leena
