Remember this old church alter I got awhile back for the TV to sit on. |
Yep even with the pretty altar that screen just grabbed hold of your eye every time. Even Libby had a hard time looking at it anymore lol! |
So Terry and his trustee tools made these shutters into doors to hide the 60 inch TV. I am hunting for some cool knobs for these shutter doors. |
Yeah win win!!!! He gets his big screen TV and I get to hide it when we are not watching it. $18 dollars and some left over wood made for this great cabinet box to cover the TV. |

ReplyDeleteSo fabulous! So Terry and Kris! I absolutely love this.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful, Kris! You two made a wonderful design team again. What a great deal you got on the shutters. Enjoy the new view :)!
ReplyDeleteJulia
Wow, it looks great!!! xo Laura
ReplyDeleteYep so much better a big ole tv is an eyesore but like you said the men in our lives seem to need them. You found the perfect solution, and at a bargain price too :) I can see a glimpse of the sofa, can't wait to see it slipcovered.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea Kris the shutters look fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, Kris! It's great to have a handy man around the house to make all of our decorating visions a reality, isn't it? What would we do without them!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteAnother clever creation from the Dynamic Duo of home design! Looks fantastic.
xoxo,
Vera
You are the queen of cover-up! First the double shower doors, next the large TV, and soon the floral sofa. I don't blame you at all! It certainly makes it more personal that way and fits in with your décor much better. Your husband is so handy to be able to make that shutter cover-up for your TV. I really like that chippy painted trunk you're using for a coffee table too. Looking forward to seeing the final reveal!
ReplyDeleteKris- That looks awesome. I love the look of old shutters.
ReplyDeleteYou two remind me so much of hubby and I. Have a mission to accomplish and get er done! Fabulous way to hide the tv Kris and it fits right into your chippy goodness decor.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that!! looks so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWowza-looks great and I love it! You are very creative and now you both get what you want!
ReplyDeleteWOW so clever and it looks amazing!!!!! I'm so glad you are able to have your white again :o)

Great idea!! Do you ever sleep or does your mind just go 90 mph all the time? LOL Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Our tv isn't 60", but I still need to hide it. You are so lucky that Terry is handy!
ReplyDeleteKris, I hate to have to see even our smaller TV out in the open. I may one get Ted to build onto the stand it is sitting on. Then I too can hide ours. I have to say your whole set is adorable. You are the door and shutter queen girl. Love it. Blessings for a great day. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeletefantastic idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect way to cover up a tv!!! And it fits right in with your decor! I insisted on putting our tv inside an armoire so I could close up the doors and hide it whenever I wanted. Lol!
ReplyDeleteYou two are simply A M A Z I N G !!! Love your ideas and how you "both" get them done. So pretty, Kris.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! What a wonderful way to cover up the big black box. You would never know it's there. Great idea and your living room looks beautiful.

Your tv cabinet look fabulous Chris! I want one too now! Thanks for the idea. I'll have to keep a look out for some old shutters. :) And I love the way your living room is coming together. Much more like your style. And your Libby is just gorgeous! Hope you are having a great week. :) Julie
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering what books or magazines you are reading right now. Our province is in a heat wave and there is little to do except read in front of a fan to keep cool. So thought I would ask.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kris
*Smiles*
Kris
ReplyDeleteIs there nothing you and Terry can create when you put your heads together?
This is a whole new idea for a TV cover up. Love it!
LOL-Now why am I NOT surprised that you painted that altar? Didn't I hear you say you LIKED the wood? I knew you were lying and it was just a matter of time before you painted that sucker. LOL Love it, Kris---and Love the shutters to cover the TV up. I hate the big TV, too and we have one in our great room that just smacks you right in the face. You are lucky that Terry is so handy! The two of you make a GREAT team! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteI Love It, Kris! It must be so very nice to have your sweet hubby be so willing to help your crazy decor life :) Sometime, I'm going to text you a picture of my Big Black Monster entertainment center ... you will want to get 2 gallons of white paint out and go to town! Love ya, Cindy xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou and Terry are really quite the duo team. It looks terrific and the shutters really make it. Can hardly wait to see the room all finished.
ReplyDeleteYou never sit still do you. always thinking on new projects. They always turn out so well. Even Libby matches the decor LOL.
You and Terry have a wonderful 4th and hopefully it will not be raining.

OMG! A 60" TV??? I can't imagine how big your room must be to watch that comfortably. Men, eh? lol. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE how you've worked out a solution that suits you both, and looks terrific into the bargain. Fantastic job once again Terry! Don't fancy lending him out under the guise of a vacation to the UK do you Kris? You could come too of course, lol.

Great job! I can't wait to show this to my hubby. He would be on board with the concept in a heart beat.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! Your tv cover-up looks like a million bucks and you sure can't beat the price! Those darned tvs - at least the flat screens are better looking than the old behemoths, lol. Have a great fourth! Jane
ReplyDeleteIncredible job! I just showed this to the husband who was impressed, too. His is out on what was supposed to be a window seat in the den which is upstairs, and since I mostly enter by invitation only, I don't really care. If it was downstairs in my LR, I would be copying this so fast it would make your head spin! Great job.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen,
DeleteSo cute this comment. Love that you have a room that is by invite only to viewing the big ole tv!!! Too funny. Glad you loved this. It really was a great answer to the big problem of what to do with the TV sticking out in the room. Happy 4th. Thanks for your sweet visit.
Kris
Absolutely love it ! Great deal on the shutters ! You are so inspiring!! I so enjoy your posts ❤️❤️❤️. Hugs
ReplyDeleteCathy Thompson

ReplyDeleteHi Kris
ReplyDeleteLove love love!!!!!! the way you have hidden the TV. You and your husband are so darn creative. Love the alter white also
have a great day Kris
deezie
What a perfect way to hide that "not so pretty" black blog. Oh yes, we all have them. You and Terry did a great job. Love it. Thanks, Kris for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party
ReplyDeleteWOW! This a brilliant solution! The altar and shutters look fabulous - you would never know that there is a TV hiding behind there. Well Done!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! My husband has a HUGE flat screen in our living room. It hangs on the wall in the corner. I would love to figure out a way to hide it. I also have to contend with a collection of three electric guitars and a 4' X 4' aquarium on the other side of the room. Talk about a design challenge! He does put up with my "girlie" shabby chic decor all over the house so I guess I just have to bite my tongue about his "stuff". I sure would love to have a man cave for him!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever and wonderful solution! The altar looks gorgeous. You and Terry did an amazing job.

ReplyDeleteHi Kris, love this fix for the big TV. What a grand idea. I love the alter and once white and chippy it is just gorgeous. The shutters did the trick to cover so nicely. Terry did a beautiful job and it all looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCM
The altar was an awesome piece even before the shuttered doors, Kris. It's a perfect for a big screen TV. Love the white distressed paint job.

ReplyDeleteLove this Kris!!
ReplyDeleteJust amazing. I am in awe. So pretty and practical. Di@cottage-wishes
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing, I gave you this idea way back when you were painting the Altar, it would allow the big black screan to melt away and free up space for the altar as a serving place of entertaining.
ReplyDeleteLooks perfectly perfect for your family room.
Xx

That looks fabulous-what a clever and beautiful idea.

Perfect! This is exactly what I had in mind when you said you wanted to hide the monster tv! I have to admit, I'm with Terry - I love watching a big tv! Especially during baseball season! I'm also with you - they are an eyesore when not in use! I' so glad that you found a beautiful compromise! Can't wait to see the entire room re-do! I'm thinking about a re-do for mine, but don't know where to start! I guess I need to study Pinterest for a while and get some ideas (or talk you into coming and doing it for me) LOL! Have a great day! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteKris, Your tv cover up turned out awesome!! You and Terry make such a creative pair, I love all your projects. Thanks so much for sharing at Simple & Sweet Fridays.

Hello man! Incredible post however I extremely needed to simply drop a remark on your blog. Your blog has a super cool outline. Is this wordpress by possibility?

When you buy the LCD TV the toughest decision that you have to make is where will you keep the TV? In general the regular non-plasma TV are kept on the TV stands but these TV stands are not good for the plasma or the LCD TV's and hence the best way to keep them in a room is by mounting them. https://g.page/tvinstallationone
