New Chair Pad for Vintage Chaise

I wanted to show you what I made for a chair pad for this Vintage Chaise.

Before

After

Here's How I Did It.

Terry was getting new tires put on our car and he had some time to kill before they would be done.  So right across the parking lot of the tire place was a Menards.  As he walked around the Menards he found this great chair pad on clearance for $15.  Gotta love that man he has tools and knows how to use them and can seek out a great bargain!

I cut off the outer fabric to find a wonderful white chair pad underneath.

I used some of the ruffle from the table cloth on this chair.  Used my glue gun so I can pull this ruffle off in the future for a change up if need be.

I only glued the ruffle to the end and the lower sides of this chaise.  I did not want to cover up her cute scroll design or tires.

I took this Ikea Duvet cover that matched my drapes and dining room chairs to make into the new pad.
It was pretty easy to do.  Just put it in the opening of the duvet and pulled it over the to sewn side of the duvet.  This way I only had to cut and sew one straight line on the other side and at the top and bottom of the pad.

So now my cute little chaise lounge matches the other dining room chairs in the room.
Here she is with her ruffle and chair pad.  I am glad I left the scroll design and wheels showing.

So now I have my lounge chair to relax and read inside and my outdoor chaise as well.
So happy to have an outside lounger and now an inside lounger.

So as you can see a lot of things are being skirted in my dining room area.  I am getting a lot of re love DIY's out of that ruffled table cloth.
I think I am done skirting things in this dining room space.  Have a great week.  Enjoy all that the new week brings.
Kris

  1. Brilliant transformation girl, it looks fabulous. I can't believe you found the chair pad for $15 quite the bargain. It's only hitting 70 this week and 50 at night here, I think fall is on it's way.

  23. That turned out great, Kris! What a great idea to buy a ready made cushion and use that for the foam. A big plus is that all that stuff is on sale now. Love how you did the ruffle - keeping that pretty scrollwork visible!

  24. Ya have-to love Ikea for fabrics. I just washed all of my bedroom, and at least three pillows in there are Ikea bedding or fabrics. Now I have to figure out how to drag my porch chaise into the house (nope, no room). Love the clean little ruffles, not too fussy, but softens the metal, just right! Grins!

  26. What a great deal. You couldn't touch foam and batting for that price. What a good sale spotter your husband is. The chaise is adorable. I hope you enjoy a magazine and cup of tea from that spot.

  27. I would never have thought to use the chaise lounge indoors, but it looks fabulous and comfy, too! You did a find job sewing a new cushion cover, and the ruffle adds a soft touch. Sweet!

  28. I don't know what I'm more impressed with - that gorgeous chaise lounge - the beautiful way you covered it - or that Terry grabbed it in the first place.

  29. Fabulous. Absolutely perfect that we BOTH have husbands who will do such things for us! You and I have the same (or nearly) chaise in white and you should have seen me make a make-shift skirt and cover for mine for a quick photo shoot this summer. I actually like how the photo came out since the chaise was in the background of the photo. There is nothing like this white and ruffled look, is there?

HAPPY DAY KRIS! Enjoy the beauty that surrounds you!

  39. Well aren't you just a smarty pants Kris! Terry reminds me so much of my Darcy. He would do the exact same thing to kill some time. He came home the other day with 6 rolls of Frog Shape Tape that he found on clearance for $1.50 a roll - I was doing the happy dance. $15.00 for a lounge chair pad - sweet deal and I love how you recovered it. Looks perfect in your house!
