I showed you how I made this vintage dresser into a new sink vanity for my master bath.
|
Now I feel like with all my architectural pieces this bathroom has come together. |
|
This was the old cabinet above my make up vanity in my master bath. It was ok but I felt with all the other vintage pieces it needed an update. |
|
I had an old window out in the shed and a architectural header off another piece so Terry made it into a new cabinet for me. |
|
Now I have a new bigger cabinet for storage made out of things I had. |
|
Now I would like to ask for your help. Should I get some glass glaze paint to fill in the window so it is not see through or should I leave it alone. Just not sure I like seeing all my make up etc. through the glass.
Thanks for your help and visits. Be sure to come back on Saturday for another wonderful blogger to meet in Spotlight. Kris :)

It's so pretty! I love this bathroom!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day xo
Kris, I think you should frost the glass or lace it.... or even some stapled on chicken wire.(inside) You could use a piece of lace as a stencil even. Show us what you decide to do. You know we all love seeing what you are making and doing. You are inspiring many. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteKris, I think Susie has some great suggestions here. Your new cabinet is perfect and I'm green with envy that you have a make up table and chair in your bathroom.
DeleteThat looks so good. I can see why you don't really want to see inside it but at the same time it looks good to be able to see the panes of the glass. If you frost it over, it might not have as much definition. Knowing me, I would relocate my personal stuff behind closed doors and accessorize that cabinet with something else. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous transformation as always dear K! Sigh....as for your glass panes....I'd glaze them or simply tac a length of lace inside. Lovely. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove it, you always amaze me.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I would cover the glass panes with something... Fabric, paper, I'm not sure about painting them. I think something less permanent. I like the basket in there. Maybe more of those. This is very convienent and a great place for your "stuff." I can't wait to see what you do. Have a great day friend!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful way of decorating your house and I love this new shelving for the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteI love what you (and Terry!) did to the cabinet. I am like you, I don't really want to see what's inside. I have some of my glass exposed to show the pretties, but when I don't like the contents, I add fabric with a quick velcro trick. Easy on, easy off! You could used an opaque fabric to keep some of that open feel, too. Whatever you decide I am sure it will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteyou can buy lots of window films that will obscure your items. and it is removable and changeable if you decide it isn't quite right.
ReplyDeleteClever Clever girl!
ReplyDeleteLove the cabinet! I would probably cover the window with something........

Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteYou and Terry are amazing with all yours transformations, I prefer to either tuck things in baskets or diffuse the clear glass. Products just distract from the beauty of your pristine white bathroom. Love the cabinet design, you and Terry really rock the tools!
xoxo,
Vera
I would do something to blur the glass. Otherwise, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your bathroom.
ReplyDeleteYour cabinet is so cute, Kris. You always have the best ideas. I would probably do something to hide the stuff inside. BTW - I like that VO5 hairspray too!
ReplyDeletecover the interior of the glass with either of the previous suggestions that are temporary...you never know when you'll crave another change. LOL you definitely are the quick change Queen!
ReplyDeleteAnother Fab Kris and Terry reluv! Baskets or lace I say :>) Leaves you the freedom to switch out.
ReplyDeleteLove the cabinet Kris...the whole bathroom looks so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteMaybe add some pretty lace behind the glass...I'm thinking that would go with the rest of your room.
Blessings,
Linda
Y'all are such a good team! I love what you did with the cabinet! I would probably glaze it over to conceal the contents, or maybe put everything in small baskets? I love how pretty and airy your bath is. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room, as usual! I think others have said a piece of lace over the glass would look nice, and I agree. All best --
ReplyDeleteJoanne @ Sea Glass Cottage
I think your cabinets are all very cool---you cold try some printed vellum scrap book paper on a couple of the windows to disguise what is bothering you---easy fix or unfix. Personally, things I use everyday I like out--but I know I just put up a shelf for all the expensive small bottles in the bathroom, and I'm having issues with that one myself. At least with the cabinet you have the option. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou could use acid to etch the window panes - they would be very pretty.
ReplyDeletePretty cabinet door. I'd cover the glass with lace or fabric, or scrapbook paper. Anything that could be changed out. You always have great ideas. Love this.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! I love it. If you didn't want to glaze or etch the windows, you could get some pretty baskets to store those items in and leave the window clear.
ReplyDeleteKris, LOVE the 'new' cabinet!! I agree with the others, to cover the glass with something...whatever you decide, it will be fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Another great transformation, Kris! I agree with whoever it was who suggested tacking lace on the inside of the door. It would add a soft texture to the piece.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Your bathroom is turned out lovely Kris. Very bright and soothing. I think you should just add a simple lace of fabric for softness.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I love the look of the windowpanes so I think those who suggested a lace curtain or something like that on the backside of the window would be darling. I bet you whatever you decide on will be just right!
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is so pretty!
Hi Kris! I LOVE your new cupboard--what a sweet, handy husband you have. Mine is super sweet, but not so handy :) Lots of great ideas for covering the glass or "hiding" the contents. I kinda like the Benita's basket idea myself. Whatever you choose, I know it's going to look great!

ReplyDeleteI love your bathroom - it's beautiful. I think I would frost the glass or cover so you can't see in. You and Terry are the best.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Mary
The cabinet turned out fabulous, Kris. I would cover the glass or buy body care products in neutral colors ;).
ReplyDeleteJulia
Leave it as is!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, what you AND your husband do as a team is remarkable. What a MAN! To go out and do this for you, to take the time to make is just right? LOVE IN MOTION!
ReplyDeleteYour piece is exquisite. I would leave the glass as is and maybe put a very sheer, vintage lace as a curtain on the inside of the door. Leave the windows as is! Anita
I think fabric is a great choice, because yo u can always change it when you want a new look!
ReplyDeleteNice cabinet, and I'd probably frost it (me, who does basically no DIY, lol).
ReplyDeleteKris, you never cease to amaze me. Can Terry come to my house with his tools one day? lol The cabinet is great. I just used a product from Jeanne d'Arc Living, it is a roll of see through lace fabric that you can use to line windows with. I love it. I'll be having a post come out next week on using it. But I found it on ebay. It easy to hang and you get a huge roll of 20 bucks. Then if you decide to change your cabinet you just pull it off and it can be used for something else. I'll send you the link. Have a great day. Jo
ReplyDeleteLove the remake! It is amazing! My first choice would be a fabric curtain but if there is no room for that than I would do the glass glaze.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is so tranquil; must be wonderful to escape to after a long, frantic day!
Having said that, I think I'd very lightly spray the glass windows with just a dusting of frost, to look like a fluffy cloud is passing over their panes. Soft and subtle. And serene.
Happy weekend, my friend!
Poppy
Pretty just as it is. Love your bathroom.

I want to come over and look through that shed, it is a treasure shed for sure. You find the most amazing things stored in there and Terry is a wiz with power tools. It all looks great :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I would cover the window. It looks just amazing. You do have amazing style and ideas.
ReplyDeleteCarla
What a darling bath...just precious. I am so OCD that I would have to cover my makeup and stuff up.....I think it would be darling to put a mirror behind the cute window....that way it still looks like a window but "stuff" will be covered.....you always have such good ideas, whatever you do will be swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love how you have all of these wonderful pieces in your stash and have been able to create beautiful and functional new items from them! Such a cute bathroom! I think I'd glaze the window glass. It would keep things uncluttered looking and maintain your white color scheme. Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteIt works beautifully in your bathroom, Kris! I'm with you and I think seeing my makeup and stuff through the clear glass would drive me nuts after a bit. Maybe you could do the frosted glass spray and do a design or monogram or signage text with the frosted look.
ReplyDeleteThe glass does not bother me because you're keeping your cabinet tidy. However if it is bothering you, maybe you could put a panel of lace behind the glass. Just use velcro strips. Easy-peasy!
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is so pretty!!!
Great cabinet- I would put some lace behind the window- ie a curtain- so that you have options later on if you want to move it- rather than paint or film-over the glass.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Angela...Putting some lace in the window gives you options later. Your bathroom is darling, Kris!
ReplyDeleteHave a super Saturday!
Debbie

I love the see through glass, but you could always use a curtain to black the view for the firt two shelves. I like waht we see on the bottom shelf.
ReplyDeleteI love this cabinet Kris. I would leave the glass. However at my house it would always be a mess. I imagine you are much more organized than me, so I think clear glass is so pretty.
ReplyDeletesending hugs...
I would either velcro on some pink & white ticking or toile fabric, or frost it with a clear monogram.
ReplyDeleteI'll join in with my 2 cents, even if it's late (lol) and say that I like it the way it is, but if it bothers you, I would put some cute paper behind the glass panels :)
