I have not gotten on the band wagon for fall decor just yet. I want too but it has been too much like summer still here in Illinois. When I look outside to the garden and my knock out roses are going crazy with blooms and it is 90 degrees it still feels too much like summer to me.
|
My hanging ivy geraniums love the heat and it being on the dry side. They are coming around from all the rain in June and July. |
|
The knock out roses I planted this year are well just a knock out!!!! I love these roses they bloom again and again and are very low maintenance. |
|
I dead head the open flowers and within a few days another new bud will open up. They are so hearty. |
|
Even my faux birds in the garden look like the want to still hold on to summer. |
|
Yep ivy geraniums love the heat and dry conditions of the last few weeks. Their colors are so vibrant. |

On a sad note. We said good bye this week to a very sweet blogger that fought hard to battle cancer.

A beautiful tribute to a valiant fighter.

ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Kris, I will miss Ceekay....I knew she wasn't doing well but I never gave up hope. Thank you for this tribute to her. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteAww how sad! Sorry for the loss of your friend Kris. xox
ReplyDeleteHow sad about Ceekay. I didn't know her, but still. This week it seems to be turning into Fall in NE Wisconsin. It might reach a high of the 70's today. Our neighbor across the street has her yard all decorated for Fall. Good for her! Like you, I am not ready to let go of Summer.
ReplyDeleteDeb
Thank you for this lovely post dedicated to a fellow blogger who will be dearly missed. Your flowers seem to be flourishing just for her.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are beautiful and this was a lovely tribute to sweet Ceekay. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post, Kris. I'm just so sad about Ceekay's passing. She fought so hard but always kept so upbeat.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is lovely, Kris. Summer has a firm grip around here, too. It was 100 yesterday. No fall in sight. I am sorry to hear about your friend. I have read other posts about her and popped over to visit her blog. I would've liked to have met her. I am sending prayers...
ReplyDeleteI read yesterday of Ceekay's going home. I didn't know her but going to her blog and reading made me realize that she will be missed by all the bloggers who knew her. Thank you, Kris, for this loving post about her.
ReplyDeleteHow very very sad about CeeKay . It is a very sad day.
ReplyDeleteI just hate cancer
I am sure she would love your roses
Thanls for letting us know about her
Your knock out roses are so beautiful!!!! We are still having hot weather so it certainly doesn't feel like fall around here yet. I'm sure it will soon enough though?!?! I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your sweet blogger friend!
ReplyDelete~Des
It's so sad about Ceekay. She was just a special person. Cancer seems to be hitting my family very hard right now. It's pretty bad when your brother in law and your mother have appointments the same day with the same doctor out of town. That happens Friday.
ReplyDeleteThe roses are beautiful and she will smile when she sees them.
Hugs
So sad to hear about Ceekay. Bless her family. Your flowers are fabulous! I bet you love to sit out there and admire them. They just bring joy to the garden. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sad abut Ceekay. She fought a valiant battle. I hate that cancer takes so many people way too young. It has been way too hot here to think about fall yet, which is fine with me. I love holding on to summer. I think we are getting a touch of fall this coming up weekend though. Your flowers are all still beautiful. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of your summer garden. With our drought, I just don't have blooms although my garden is green.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Ceekay.
I was so sad to hear of her death! I remember following her blog. She was such a sweet person and as long as I've known her she was battling cancer. It's sad to know that she didn't win the battle. I would love to see that awful disease eradicated from this earth! Your flowers are beautiful. We are expecting cooler temps later this week but right now it is very hot and humid. We just got some rain so it feels steamy outside.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Ceekay. A sweet tribute Kris. She'd love and appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteIt's hot and humid here. I think it's supposed to cool off by the weekend. I'm so ready!
I didn't kow Ceekay but I heard from other bloggers. I know she will be missed. Love the roses. If I had flowers I may be celebrating summer still but I'm don't and I'm so ready for Fall.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know CeeKay but I do feel sorry for her passing away. And for the families loss.
ReplyDeleteSeems we have had the same weather this summer. Now it's finally sunny, but not so warm. It was frost this morning, brrr.
Take care.
Love Elzie
Kris,
ReplyDeleteI did not have the honor of knowing CeeKay and I wish her family and loved ones peace and healing in their loss.
Your flowers look so happy, yup loving the sun and heat. I planted all "Barbie Pink" same color as yours (my grand used to call it that and it stuck in my Favorite memory color choices). My Barbie Pinks are New Guinea impatiens and Dahlias. The Dahlias really loved the heat of Summer and are still profusely growing big and bright. Your flowers look amazing Kris.
xoxo,
Vera
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteYes it's so hot here too but I too will enjoy the next few weeks we have of warm weather.
Your roses are just beautiful and I love that pretty pink color of them
Sorry to hear about the passing of your blog friend.
Julie
I was so very sad to read CeeKay's blog on Monday! She will be missed! Love all of your beautiful roses. Everything in my yard is gone with the exception of the Vinca's. I'm hoping to do some fall planting now that the temps are cooling to low 100's. Have a blessed day! Cindy xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am so saddened to hear about CeeKay. She was an amazing and strong lady.
ReplyDeleteKris, I have knockout roses for the first time. I am not sure if they like more or less water! I've read not to deadhead and I'm wanting to do that. I'll follow what you do!!
Nancy

So sorry to hear of Ceekay's passing. I know it's been a long battle for her.
ReplyDeletePrayers for her family and loved ones.
Aren't Knockout roses great? I love mine and they are still going strong, too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Ceekay very well and I was very sorry to hear about her passing.
I did not know her, but what a sad loss. I just seen her husband posted about her going to our Lord and Savior.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful and such a sweet post Kris. I didn't know her, but it still makes me so sad! Hugs my sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just gorgeous! So sorry about Ceekay - she fought a tough battle. So glad she was a Christian.
ReplyDeleteJudy
So sorry to hear about CeeKay. May she rest in peace, she fought a hard battle.
ReplyDeleteYour roses and flowers are stunning. We are having terrible heat here - in the 100's. I hardly go out only when I have to. Even the dogs run out, do their job and run back in. Now we are dealing with Hurricane Linda coming up from Mexico, so lots of humidity.
Enjoy your flowers, soon you will have snow.
Have a great week.
Mary
What a sweet post Kris......your flowers, especially the roses are truly beautiful. A lovely tribute to Ceekay, she will be missed~~~Blessings~~~Roxie

Your flowers are still really pretty and healthy looking! Mine are starting to look poorly! Such sad news about Ceekay! I knew her from way back to our RMS days. She was a remarkable lady, and you've created a lovely tribute to her! Take care! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about CeeKay...the flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI found my roses yesterday, prostrate on the ground....I think they were paying homage to summer, in their fire red splendor. Oh what a great summer it was Kris!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kris
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for the loss of your friend* Your flowers are just beautiful Kris! I am with you on holding onto Summer, even though Fall is my favorite season. Its just so Summer out still and I am enjoying every second of it.
Have a great day
deezie
So very sorry to hear about Ceekay. Your tribute to her is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI did not know Ceekay, but we all seem to know cancer a little too well. How very honorable to pay tribute to her with what she loved best, Kris, and the images are beautiful. RIP, Ceekay.
ReplyDeleteI am not only hanging onto summer but trying to pull it back. :) I don't consider it over until the calendar say so. I just can't put pumpkins on the front porch when the impatiens are still looking so beautiful. I just read about CeeKay. I knew her as a blogger long ago when they were just a few of us. Such a loss.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet tribute for a loving and sweet lady. Yes, she will be missed.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
A beautiful tribute to Ceekay! I didn't know her but as a member of our wonderful blogging community, she will be sadly missed.

Kris, even though I didn't know CeeKay she was a very strong woman and fought a long, hard battle. I think your very kind words and your gorgeous knock out roses was a beautiful tribute to her, she sounds like the kind of person who would appreciate that.. Judy
ReplyDeleteKris, that breaks my heart to see that a fellow blogger has passed. So many trials in this world and hers are over. Bless her. Your flowers are so beautiful, you need to hang on to Summer as long as you can because your winters have been so bad and long the last few years. Have a wonderful weekend and relax and enjoy it. Hugs, Jo
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I remember CeeKay from when I first started blogging years ago. So sorry to hear of her passing. xo
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous and a perfect tribute to your blogging friend! So sorry for her passing. Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about CeeKay.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about hanging on to summer as much as I can. Our summer here was off to a late start so want to enjoy it as long as possible before I plunge into Fall. Everything looks so pretty and lush in your garden.
I was very sad to hear about Ceekay, too...she was a very sweet lady and I always enjoyed visiting with her.
ReplyDeleteIt still looks very summery there...here it is a high of 62 today and there are leaves falling...
So sorry about your friend.
ReplyDeleteI just can't get in the mood to drag out my fall decor either...just too much summer left here in Texas...vacation at the beach in Galveston this week...maybe then...
ReplyDeleteSadly I knew Ceekay from years ago, when I was on Rate My Space and then through my last blog, but we never connected again when I came back. When Brenda told me, I had no idea she was even sick. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post that you dedicated to her, Kris.
(((hugs)))
