When I had a "girls day out" with a wonderful friend last week. We visited one of my fave stores in Morris called Vintage. There is a sweet vendor named Barb that has a spot in Vintage. Barb's booth is full of vintage white treasures. I got this wonderful dress form from her booth tutu and all! |
Hmmmmm as I looked out the back door to the deck. I think that chippy garden pedestal with the bird cage resting on it might just need to be re loved onto the dress form. |
So with a little help from Terry and his trusty tools this dress form got a new base! |
Yep! much more character to her now. |
Her tutu got a good washing with some oxy clean and a cap full of bleach. It took the blush color out of the tutu and left it sparkling white. |
I also bought a couple of beautiful angel wings made by Diana from Sissie's Shabby Cottage last week. I am doing an angel theme with my tree and decor this year. It will be fun adding these wings into my decor theme. |
I love both sets of angel wings. I am running all kinds of ideas through my head as to how I will add these to the decor theme this year. |
Diana is sooooo talented and super sweet and added this angel wing charm attached to beautiful pieces of lace in with the wings. So I attached it to this set of wings. If you want to see some of Diana's creative and pretty treasures you can visit her Etsy Shop here. |
She's gorgeous, Kris!!
ReplyDeletePretty things, Kris! I can't wait to see your decor queen within unleashed. We've already styled our booth spaces, so the house is fair game anytime now. It's the putting away the decor before that I don't like, and I seem to have several fall things out.....
ReplyDeleteRita
Oh! What a great, great find, Kris. I do like YOUR base a lot better than the one that came on it though. Good job switching that out. So glad the blush came out of the tutu for you. I love Diana (Sissie). She is just a nice, sweet person. I won her vintage Jeanne de Arc giveaway yesterday! WHOOO HOOOO! Could hardly believe it! I will have to arm wrestle it away from my granddaughter when she sees it. lol
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your angel-themed Christmas, Kris.
I can't start decorating until after Thanksgiving because I am hosting here--with a few new faces around the table this year! Hope you have a great Sunday. Love to you- Diana
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteI am drooling with envy over that lovely mannequin!!! I cannot believe how you transformed it with the base. It's perfect! I also love how you are using the angel wings. The metal wings look so pretty in front of the window. Someone commented on my blog that the lace angel wings would look pretty atop a Christmas Tree decorated in whites and creams. I might have to try that. Thank you so much for the shout out too Kris. I really appreciate you.
hugs,
Sissie
Kris, The dress form make over is wonderful. I love that chunkier look. Can't wait to see all the wings in your décor. Hug Terry for us today..you are in my prayers. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteShe looks so sweet watching over your dining room, Kris. I love the new base you repurposed from your deck outside! I can feel your excitement to get started on your holiday decorating and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful finds! I love the decorative touches you added to the dress form--it's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteWhat a find, I love her!
Jemma
Gorgeous! I love the tutu!
ReplyDeleteI love the new dress form especially after you gave it a new base. Pretty pretty! I might just start my Christmas decor early too this year, something I never never do.... but I'm kind of in the mood and like you say, the time will fly right on by! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI liked it with the plain base but switching out to the other one made it perfect!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteShe looks gorgeous and I am sure she loves her switched out base. So did you name her, (I name everything)! Funny how whites sometimes take on that pink cast ... I bought a faux Mongolian lamb throw for the Living room and when I got it home washed it in acold wash- delicate with oxi clean let it air dry and the pink vanished. I think your dress form has been wrapped with papier mâché or at least the photo has that appearance, You made a beauty out of her and with the white feathers wings on her at Christmas she will dazzle your décor.
Also love the Nordic wing and metal wings you purchased.
Sending love my earth angel friend.
xoxo,
Vera
How gorgeous is that dress form. I am looking for one too. The new base made it look like a piece of art.
ReplyDeleteShe was pretty when you brought her home, but as usual, your makeover powers are fabulous! I am glad you are decorating. It's good for the soul to create! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you replaced the stand that really did not suit the form. It looks perfect and pretty now! xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteYou have such an eye - the new base is so much better for the dress form.
ReplyDeleteI never decorate for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving, but November is going to be my month of creativity for Christmas.
The dress form and the dress are beautiful! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of changing out a plain base for a fancy one - love it. Sissie's angle wings are lovely in your home. Can't wait to see the house in its holiday finery.
ReplyDeletelove dress forms. Your's has such nice detail to the bodice...she really did need an improvement to her legs. Can't wait to see all your holiday décor.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kris, LOVE THIS! I need to bring out my dress form and dress her up for the magic of the holidays! Looks so good my friend.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your dress form. I know you will decorate her up beautifully for the holidays. I love what you did with the base and think I'll try to find a base for Miss Begonia. I don't like the metal base on her either.
ReplyDeleteHappy November.
Judy
LOVE your new dress form and the base you added is just perfect! The tutu is so pretty....can't wait to see your Christmas decor!

It is all so pretty Kris. The dress form looks so much better with the new vintage white base and the tutu adds such a delicate touch. I just purchased the same lace JDL angel wings from Sissie. I cannot wait for them to arrive. I will be using them in my Christmas decor too. I already have tiny white feathered wings that I use on my Madonna statues. Some wings on your dress form might be a thought...and some Rosaries around the neck. There are so many lovely ideas in the November issue of JDL. I am so looking forward to the holidays xx
ReplyDeleteYAY!! I love that you added your own amazing touch to that dress form. It was neat the way it was, but you made it AMAZING by adding a different stand. Your husband is so good about implimenting your ideas. What a great inspiration you both are!!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your Christmas decor. What a wonderful dress form.
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty and I love her new base. I start decking the halls at the shop this week (after I get all my Christmas items priced and boxed)...then our family room makeover will happen...then I can deck the halls at home.
Blessings,
Linda
What a great find, the dress form, and now she looks so pretty how you fixed her up with a new pair of shoes! I start decorating for Christmas the day after thanksgiving.l You got a lucky find again!
ReplyDeleteShe's a real beauty. What a great idea to give her a whole new look with the chippy pedestal base.

Hello Kris,
ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy Halloween?
We had a great time. :-)
I love your find. Wonderful.
I am dreaming up how I want to decorate for Christmas. I will not start until the day after Thanksgiving.
I do have a few projects to work on during the month of November.
Carla
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteThe dress form is so beautiful and I just love the stand re-do.
I am sure it is so hard to not be able to decorate for yourself while you wait for your home to sell. But I love that you found a project that you could do and use your creative genius on! Love the angels wings too, very pretty.
I dream in Christmas décor all year long, I love everything about it, it's the most magical time of the year for me! :) So I already know what décor I'll be using and have been picking up bits and pieces to add the past month or so...I will start to decorate in the next couple of weeks!
Have a wonderful week!
Kimberley
You have truly made your dress form beautiful. I love the new stand - that Terry sure is handy. I know that you are getting excited about Christmas and can hardly wait to see what delightful things are spinning in your head. I know they will be over the top. It's good that you have a project and that will keep your mind off of selling. I know that you are getting ready for your girls Christmas party, which will be such a success.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful creative week.
Hugs,
Mary
Leave it up to you and Terri to create a much better look for the dress form, this sweet beauty will come in handy for a lot of great postings. I love dressing a form up with tons of costume jewels like stands of long pearls and tut us as you have done here.

ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Using that base is brilliant! As I was reading, I immediately thought of dressing her up in red, adding some gold bling, etc. Of course, that wouldn't fly with your decor. :) She will be beautiful I know! love the angel wings too.
