I am sure most of you might know about Habitat for Humanity. It is a great organization that gives back to the community. If you want to know more about them you can go here. |
Terry and I took a ride to the Habitat for Humanity store near our new home. I was looking for something to possibly make into a new coffee table. Well we hit the jack pot with this store. |
Look at this cute little chair and table for sale. Would be super sweet for a porch or sun room. |
This sweet hand painted vintage door was screaming for me to take her home. I just did not have anyplace to put her. She will be a treasure for someone else. So sweet and pretty. |
If you need a door they had them. This was just one row of several. Vintage doors to modern day doors in every size and color. |
Lots of beautiful chandeliers. A nice can of spray paint and these $5 beauties could be new and gorgeous chandy's. |
This one!!!! Yep she does not look like much right now and needs some love, but I am determined to change this ugly duckling to a beautiful swan! |
$5 dollar mirrors. Oh My the choices. |
Look at this vintage rocking chair. What a beauty. |
For all you vintage frame hunters they had a large inventory. Lots of personality to the frames. |
Here she is in the garage with her drawers out and ready for her spa day! |
Also getting ready for a spa day is the little table that will be made into a new coffee table. Very soon I will have these ready to show you. |
Stay tuned I will have the make overs of both the coffee table and china cabinet soon. It is amazing what a little bit of love and a furniture spa day can do!
Hope your summer is going great. I will be back soon with the reveal of these two pieces.
Hugs,
Kris
YAHOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't ya just love it? That load you brought home, I can see the wheels spinning in both your brilliant minds! I can't wait to see THIS, KRIS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, my Habitat looks nothing like that. Mostly really bad junk. Love both pieces you found, that china cabinet in particular. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteMarty, though we don't have a Habitat in our town, we have other thrift stores and like yours, many of ours have really bad junk too. And it sits and sits there because they have such crazy high prices. Then I found if you ask to speak to a manager, if the item's been on the floor a long time, they may lower the price. I got a file cabinet that would be $300 new list price for only $20 for the asking :-) A little paint and it looks stunning! Try asking about a reduction next time you see something you may want to purchase at a thrift store. No store has room enough to floor plan or store every item indefinitely ;-) Good luck! :-D
DeleteWow, your Restore has such great stuff! Now I'm tempted to go visit ours. Can't wait to see your transformations. Your little table is super cute!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a great Restore! Can't wait to see your purchase redone!
ReplyDeleteNot only does your Habitat have nice things, but lots of them! You picked the cream of the crop Kris.
ReplyDeletexxx
Way some s upper stuff and I can't wait to see the beauty you add to these. My girlfriend goes there and I am thinking we are going to have to give it some thought, however, John will say we have no room for anything.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Ooo! We just had a new one open up close to us. I need to go check it out. I can't wait to see your pieces transformed!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kris
ReplyDeleteI love Habitat for Humanity*** We have one near us. The prices at yours is way better than ours though, ours tend to be very expensive. I love your finds. I just can't wait to see what you are going to do with everything. I love redoing things. I just know you will work your magic and make them beautiful!!!
enjoy your weekend

We have several thrift stores in our area. One sort of "specializes" in furniture. However their prices are SO high it usually isn't a very good deal. Occasionally I run into some real deals and I'll think of getting the piece to redo/resell. But your store looks like it has fantastic deals! Cannot wait to see the redos :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yay, you got your decor krazy on again, Kris! Those prices - ridonculous, and I really like the china cabinet base you selected. Can't wait to see how you transform both of them, and how you'll be using them. I think you should go back and get that door with the sunflower - perfect for Aug-Sept! Can't you just make it a lean-to in the garage or something??? lol (betcha you'd smile every time you got out of the car). Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGee! Our ReStore has nothing like that. It's usually toilets and white paint. Maybe some light fixtures that look like those everyone gets rid of to put in chandys ! I think because we have so many Goodwill stores in San Antonio people tend to give furniture to them instead. Great stuff you found ! Can't wait to see the transformations.
ReplyDeleteYou're scaring me! I would go crazy in that store!! Can't wait to see the reveals - no doubt they will be awesome!
ReplyDeleteKris, I can not believe the door queen passed up a door. LOL. I do love the pieces you chose. That store has some wonderful prices. It would be fun to shop there. I can't wait to see what you do with all you bought. Blessings for a fun filled weekend. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI bought my old door at a Habitat Restore, but the shop was nothing like yours.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the swans.
I can't wait to see what you come up with! And thanks for the big laugh I got over the pieces' "Spa Day"!!
ReplyDeleteYou found some great pieces! My ReStore isn't that great...I haven't been in ages. No $5 mirrors for sure! I can't wait to see your refreshed vision of the new stuff. Hope you have a great weekend- xoxo, T.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What great finds! Our Restore has gotten so pricey I have to wait til they have a sale. Those will be fun projects!
ReplyDeleteWow! Our ReStore does not get donations at this scale. I am still there at least twice a week hunting for bargains. I am imagining something white on the horizon ...
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to see the final results. You really hit the jackpot at that store.
ReplyDeleteMary
Our Habitat for Humanity ReStore here in Salem Oregon is horrible! What little they have is so overpriced it is almost criminal. I saw a China Hutch which was similar to the one in your photo and had no price tag, so I asked a sales rep for how much it was and he quoted "$300" and I about choked. Everything is overpriced with exception to cabinet doors which sell for $1 each and some door hardware. Furniture selection is sparse and it is always very dirty there. I am so jealous! I wish I could go to yours!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow what town do you live in ??? My gosh our old Habit for humanity was just not even good junk last time I went there. Just boxes of screws and broken lamp shades
ReplyDeleteYour table has good bones for sure I love it and I know it will be fabulous with your white touch to it
Kris, can't wait to see them!! What a wonderful assortment of items in your store. It looks like anyone could find anything and for great prices. Our re-store is nothing like yours. Darn...Happy Painting..Judy
ReplyDeleteFor years ReStore has been where John and I donate things to ... Recently half our basement! Stored things in excellent condition - time to purge, we needed the space for building our art area. I'm excited for you, because I know when the dynamic duo of Kris and Terry are finished with the pieces they will not resemble what was purchased but instead be reloved into beauty. But let's see, bet it going to be white! Have a fun weekend mon amie.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
WOW, I had no idea they sold those things. We have one in our next town and I have been wanting to go. I think now I will to see if they have some good things that we can use.
ReplyDeleteHoly cats! I want to live in your town - that is quite ReStore. So many goodies. I adore the legs on your future coffee table. Looking forward to seeing your magic on these pieces. Jane
ReplyDeleteI have to google it and see if there is one of these shops near me. Of course, I would need you to come along with your great designer's eye to help me spot the treasures! ;) Can't wait to see these ladies after their day at the spa. Gorgeous no doubt!
ReplyDeleteYou find the best stuff! There is a ReStore close to us and I would imagine frequent visits would be the key to finding something you love. Looking forward to the reveals!
ReplyDeleteI dont know of any place like that here in San Francisco. But it looks great love the pieces you got and cant wait to see them all redone. Happy weekend with love Janice
ReplyDeleteWow, that place is amazing! We have a store nearby and I stopped in one time and it was all modern construction leftovers and not a single thing I was interested in. I guess I need to try it again and see if things have improved!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to shop! It would be hard for me to stay away from there with all those good deals! I can't believe all the chandeliers, doors, and tables they have. Can't wait to see your makeovers!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, looks like you had ball shopping. What a wonderful place to find great pieces to relove. Can't wait to see what you do with the pieces. I'm sure they will look amazing! Have a wonderful weekend! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteThe Habitat ReStores in my area are wonderful. But I can't say enough about the organization as a whole as I volunteer on the Family Services Committee along with working in the admin offices and a fund raising event. Habitat does so much for our communities and helps people is such a wonderful positive way. I am looking forward to seeing your makeovers.
ReplyDeleteI would have bought all the mirrors! What a wonderful place to spend the afternoon! Hugs
