Happy Labor Day Week End.
Enjoy this last fling week end of Summer. I am a summer girl. I am hanging on to these last few weeks of summer. It has been beautiful here in Chicago land in the low 70's with windows open and a cool breeze coming in the windows. Love love love it!
Summer is trying to hang on!!!! The weather man said by mid week we will be back up in the high 80's with lots of humidity. Summer for us is not over just yet.
While I was down doing inventory in the storage room of fall items I came across this sweet little chippy bird house.
What is this precious little chippy bird house doing packed away in the storage area???!!!!!!!
That little chippy came up stairs and found a place to hang out in my dining room.
I added some flowers and this cute little blessed sign to this chippy love. |
Yep this needed to be placed up on the chippy china cabinet. |
We are certainly blessed with our new nest. This new nest is feeling more and more like home every day. |
This staircase and stair risers are almost done and ready to be debuted. Bye bye boring tall plain walls!!!! I hope to have the post up tomorrow or Monday on this transformation. |
Looking good and so cheerful Kris!

your new place is so beautiful, Kris. You two have done an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteWell no surprise that you have goodies hidden everywhere! Adorable birdhouse. September is a wonderful month. It is delicious with the distilled essence of another passing summer. We are doing one last campout. I'll be back to see more of your pretty pictures!
ReplyDeleteKris, I love the bird cage/house. I can not wait to see the walls. Oh yes, I do not want our summer to end...just the humidity. Nothing as nice as no heat or AC running. Love the fresh air. Blessings to you, Terry and the family. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the little birdhouse....so cute! I can't wait to see what you guys did with the staircase, I know it will be amazing!!!!

It looks like our weather patterns are IDENTICAL! And with Labor Day off from school, I hope to bask in the last hours of strong sunshine before the academic year really starts to wind up. But weekend inspirations such as home decorating and other artistic endeavors keep summer and spring alive in my heart! I CAN'T WAIT to see your staircase! If I'm late dear friend, it's because we've had some pretty spotty Internet service. They're coming on Wednesday to repair it. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteIt's like finding new things all over again! Can't wait to see your stairway. Your place looks so peaceful, Kris. No one would ever know the turmoil of getting there!
ReplyDeleteBack up to the 90s here this week, but like you, I'm hanging on to summer. I do love the cooler temps though. Enjoy family time.
Nice little chippy birdhouse! It definitely needed to find a spot. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour summer sounds like our fall - so while I love summer, I am ready for some opened window weather! So, I hope you get your extended summer and I get my early fall! :-) Happy Labor Day!
Hugs,
Cecilia
Can't wait to see what you have done with the stairs, looking forward to tomorrow's post. Summer is not over yet here in France either, we are lucky, we never get any humidity, today is slightly cooler in the high 70's and then we will be back up in the 80's all week, On the blog today I wrote about clinging onto summer, my favourite season www.ourfrenchoasis.com
ReplyDeleteSeems like we get similar weather Kris. Love the coolness now, but I'm not loving what typically come after! You're right though. I think it will be getting hot again here in the northeast.
ReplyDeleteThe birdhouse is adorable!
Looks fabulous, can't wait for the next update!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the staircase unveiling.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! Glad you found the cute little bird house and found a great spot for it. I am super excited to see your stair case idea, they are always so tricky - I think, anyway - to do, and I know you will rock it! Jane
ReplyDeleteHuuuh! (sharply indrawn breath) last weeks of summer? Wow that is a harsh reminder of things to come! For decades I try to be a calendar girl believing fall doesn't start till Sept 21st n winter Dec 21st so don't like talk of that! Of course here on the Cdn prairies we usually get snow b4 Halloween that the last flake doesn't seem to melt until May. It is a standing joke here that we get 2 seasons, summer n winter with 3 wks of fall n 3 wks of spring. What's a girl to do? You know it...decorate seasonally and pretend! Lol. I like your birdhouse my friend is bringing me some mini sunflowers n you sparked an idea I should put them in my vintage looking birdhouse to cheer our abrupt descent into winter ugh! Happy Labour day wknd! Kari
ReplyDeleteWhat a 'tweet' little bird house. I look forward to seeing what you've done with the stair walls.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely holiday weekend ~ FlowerLady
I'm so glad that you're liking your new home. You've certainly put your signature on it! Looking forward to seeing what you've done with your hallway.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Kris! I haven't been to visit in so long and I see that you two have wasted no time at all after your move. It is looking amazing... LOVE what you two cook up together. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe bird house looks terrific. It is the perfect place for it. Chicago land can be perfect in September. I used to have a big trade show every other year at McCormick place after Labor Day and the weather was usually really nice.
ReplyDeleteYour new home is really coming together.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs,
Mary
Kris, how could you have overlooked that sweet little bird cage. Too cute! Weather is so beautiful here too, almost like yours but we had a couple of fires this past week. It usually will heat up a little after Labor Day for awhile so hope that doesn't mean more of those nasty things..Happy Week to you. xxo Judy
ReplyDeleteHi Kris ~ Looking forward to seeing your "new" tall walls... though I think the wood stairway already looks amazing... Glad you are able to squeeze in lots of family time this weekend. Hang on to summer for us both... the fall switch has already been flipped here in Seattle. Xo ~julie
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteLooking great!!! Your weather sounds wonderful, enjoy your weekend! Can't wait for the tall walls reveal!
So happy to hear you are feeling like you are home!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor Day sweet friend. You are truly blessed, after all that you have been through life has leveled out for you and I am so happy for you. Your little sign says it all. Luv ya, Jo
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you love your new home! That bird house and blessed sign are perfect. We all love our "nests" don't we? Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're enjoying your new home and the little ones while summer hangs on!It usually makes me so sad when I start to hear those "summer is over" commercials and things, but this year, I think we'll e enjoying a longer summer in our warmer climate! Not sure exactly what to expect, but looking forward to having warm weather longer! That little bird house is so cute! Glad you found it in your goodies. Hope your holiday weekend was great! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteLove it...now that Fall is approaching, I so look forward to your gorgeous Fall decor!!
ReplyDeleteAwe, so adorable Kris! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. I too am a Summer gal and sadly our long weekend was dreary and cold - feels like Fall already. What I would do to be at a beach right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat added touch. It's so hot and humid I can't stand it anymore. I can't decorate for fall with this weather. Reading this after the board and batten, you so nailed it big time
