Switch A Roo

Happy New Week Everyone.

This week end Terry and I went junkin and found a new treasure that made my heart sing.  I will give you a sneak peak at that later in this post.

Remember how I had this old vintage door hanging behind my re loved chest in the living room.

It looked good here but when I got my new window from our trip to Michigan I felt like it was competing too much with that being right next to it over the couch.

New Window from Michigan trip.

Just a wee bit too much Architectural happening on this small wall!  If I have learned one thing with my decor crazy it is that sometimes I have to try something and live with it for a little while to see if the look is going to work.  While these pieces are beautiful alone they were not working well too close together.

This was my angel up over the mantel in my bedroom.

Very pretty up in my bedroom but I ended up moving that mantel out of our room for a new place in the house which you will see in later post.  So without the mantel she needed a new place too.

The door came down from behind this chest and my angel on the old chippy window went up in it's place.  Softer and more serene.

Found this pretty and chippy and full of character architectural piece this week end at a cute shop I frequent in Geneva.  Denise's Adornments Shop.

Sneak peak at the new place this architectural piece has over the mantel moved from the Master Bedroom to the living room.  I hope to have this area done this week to show you the completed new design for this space.

My chippy cottage sign got a new home too over the china cabinet.

Hoping to finish up the new look of the mantel moved to the living room this week along with my new architectural piece as the center piece.  So stay tuned for this change up.  Have a great day and always thank you for spending time on my blog and leaving your sweet comments.
Kris

  12. Everytime I walk around with the tack hammer in my hand, measuring tape in the other and nails sticking out of my mouth. "Now, what?" he yells at me. Love all your changes and all your beginnings. I know what you mean though, my shelf is still not up in the bedroom, because Im not convinced it won't be too much, meanwhile, three under bed drawers are full of goodies to go up. So I know what you mean, she mutters, nails sticking out of her mouth, LOL. Sandi

  13. The window is beautiful but did seen a little heavy with the rest and lovong the mantel in the living room. I've got to follow you, and get in the door first, to grab those architectural pieces! we were at the Covered Bridge this weekend and was on the lookout but didn't find any. Remember you live close now so anything could happen....:-{. I love the pieces above the hutch too!

  14. I think you just gave me permission to move things around more on my walls and I so appreciate this!
Somewhere along my life I got the notion in my head that once you planted that nail, you were stuck for life, or until you moved!
So, thank you:) I love your modification too.
Hope your week is off to a good start!

  16. Isn't it fun to move things around and find hew homes for them. I do like the angel better over the cabinet...and you are right- it doesn't compete for attention like the door did. Can't wait to see where that mantle lands. I think you are still 'settling in' to your new home and it does take a while for things to find their place...and then once they do we move them again anyway. lol
Have a great week, Kris. xo Diana

  17. Happy magpie Monday my fellow magpie friend. Your mantel will look stunning downstairs and just in time to be adorned for the holidays for full appreciation. The quest never ends does it? We are looking for a large French mirror to lean over our mantel upstairs in our sitting room. OR to lean on the floor along side the mantel. Eyes, fingers and toes crossed we find something unique. Kris I love your Geneva junkin' find... is it twin bed width? Very pretty find. Your hubby with that tool belt is an amazingly good natured husband who apparently adores your décor crazy. I always look forward to seeing your new reveals in your pretty home.
    xoxo,

    2. Kris, I've already contacted friends in Canada to ask if they will have a room ready for me when this election is over. They've assured me that they will - however, they forewarned me that Americans entering Canada will be "extremely vetted". Got a good chuckle out of that. On the other hand, no matter the outcome of the election, we are in for a bumpy ride. Considering renting-out my home here and heading out for a few months, if not permanently.

    1. Hi Sandy,
That window is fabulous. I got it in a shop called The Found Cottage in Hudsonville, Michigan over near Saugatuck and Holland area. If you go back a couple of posts on my week end away in Michigan you can see the links to go to Liz Marie's shop and her facebook. She did have another window just like this one. It was red but you could paint it white.

  48. HI! What a gorgeous architectural piece! I love the curves and details! I wonder what it used to be? Top of an ornate mirror? Or maybe from a grand headboard? Always fun to imagine old pieces' histories! Diggin the new arrangement with your angel too! Enjoy the rest of the week! Hugs, Leena
