I thought I would share something my heart is longing for. This Chippy White Neutral Chick is dreaming of color, flowers, and sunshine and a comfy lounger for taking a summer nap.
While we are looking at this for the next few months.
I want to think about.....
Color, fresh air, sunshine! Yep even us white and neutral decor girls need some color in our lives. I find mine each and every summer through my garden. |
Outdoor places during the summer. Garden retreats are near and dear to my heart and I always carve out a space for a summer outdoor lounging spot in my garden.
These next pictures are from my past garden spaces. Ohhhh how I cannot wait for Spring and Summer here in the Midwest. I miss my sweet lounge chair and flowers. |
Summer 2014 |
A few years ago I had an old vintage twin bed out on my deck that my lounge chair fit. Loved this space. Held up great through the summer. |
I long to bring out my summer lounger once again. Ahhhh, love to surround my outdoor space with flowers, chandeliers and a comfy lounger to rest, read and soak up the sun. |
Sweet scents from flowers, sunshine and birds singing make my heart sing. |
Courtesy of Aiken House & Garden. Ahhhh. This girl gets it too. |
So as we wait for the seasons to change and summer to return we can dream of our outdoor spaces to be. If you would like some more outdoor garden space ideas you can go to my pinterest board here. It's nice to dream about what is to come!!!! Hopefully a lot sooner than later!!! Have a great rest of this week. I have a little post coming up very soon on this beautiful piece of history I rescued. |
This pretty vintage door is going to find a new home and purpose in Junk Chic Cottage. Stay tuned! xoxo Kris |
Kris, I have always loved your outdoor rooms. I need to go buy some flowers, just to enjoy. :) I love that wee bed you had on your patio. I have been saving an old chandy from my house in town to use one day in a spot of my own. I can't wait to see what you have planned for that door. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteYou create the most amazing outdoor room ever. Can't wait to see what you do this year.
ReplyDeleteI am actually hibernating a bit through (at least) this month, but I certainly am already thinking about spring as well. Can you believe we are at 64° this am (7:45am, to be exact!). This time last week it was bitterly cold, single digits and snowing. Love all your outdoor oases, Kris, and look forward to that door's transformation.
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most beautiful flowers in the summer, Kris - you have the touch! I see tons of potential in your new door - can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteThis was a blessed and morning joy for me to visit you!
ReplyDeleteYou are an artist who takes the canvas of nature and paints it with your design and colors.
Beautiful my lovely friend,
Wishing you a very Happy and wonderful New year,
xo
Jemma
That door is beautiful! Is it made of walnut?
ReplyDeleteHappy January ~ FlowerLady
fantastic door! Spring can't be too far away, at least the days are getting longer!!
ReplyDeleteLove that door!! I am so with you Kris, my daydreaming is all about how we can spruce up our back yard and make it more like a retreat! Guess we can keep pinning to keep the dream alive till Spring :)
ReplyDeleteI think all of us who garden are tortured at this point in the year!! I'm missing the feeling of my hands in the dirt, the colors, the smells, all of it! It will come...
ReplyDeleteThat door is absolutely beautiful. Now I do have to ask this time, are you going to paint it? It's so pretty.
Good Morning Kris
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, Your outdoor space is just dreamy. Love all those flowers so much. I am an outdoor girl and love my garden space like you do. Oh can't wait to see what you do with that fabulous door
Spring is soon Kris***

I can't WAIT for spring! Love these pics--they are putting me in the mood!
ReplyDeleteAwe....warm breezes, pretty flowers....yes I want that too!
ReplyDeleteWe can dream of summer rooms...now is the time to do some planning. It really won't be long until we see a few good days...if we can survive the cold temps and gloomy days. You know we are all curious about what you will do with the door! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most lovely outdoor decorating, Kris! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe photos of your previous garden spaces are SO beautiful, Kris! They make me want to start planning for changes in my own gardens, even though I'm truly enjoying this pristine white winter we're experiencing up north.....spoken by the one who never shovels the stuff. hehe
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pop of color and stay warm!!!
Oh I remember your outdoor spaces and always loved the chase lounge you covered.
ReplyDeleteThat door sure looks interesting and it will be interesting if it turns white
What a nice treat your post is this morning. I can't wait to get back to gardening and outdoor living. Feeling very inspired by your beautiful photos. xo
ReplyDeleteOh my love that door and can't wait to see where you put it! Kris, it is -27C with windchill (-16F) so I am totally with you on the lounging outside in the sunshine. The older I get, the more I dislike winter! Stay warm. xo
ReplyDeleteAhh such a beautiful share of Summer gardens past. Love your joyful embrace of colorful blooms and how you arrange your gardens lovingly with signs and architecture. You encourage me to dream today of Spring so many months away.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
I am in the same frame of mind. So exhausted and drained by the snowstorms we have had to go through. Love the outdoor spaces!
ReplyDeleteKris your back yard was so dreamy. Love, love all of the romantic softness. It's so great to have those pictures to look back on. Can't wait to see what you do with your new piece. Have a wonderful weekend.

You really do have the most beautiful flowers in the summer time! I like a lot of color in the garden too. We actually had a hard freeze last week and probably lost a few plants, so I'll have to replace them in the spring. Oh, and I should mention our "hard freeze" means it was 26 degrees for 10 whole hours. ;) That's big time for us Texans. And of course now it's 80 degrees and the a/c is running. Hope spring hits early for you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWith a garden full of flowers like that I can see why you miss them so much.....beautiful!!!!! I can't wait to see what you do with the old door :o)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!

Well, I believe we have to wait a little for spring... But there's no harm in dreaming!
ReplyDeleteWe have spring like weather here today, with temps in the 50's and rain, rain, rain!! It's just a tease, as tomorrow we'll be back to just around 0 again by night time. All this rain will freeze into a skating rink, so I'm back to the winter boots tomorrow!! Love your photos, now I'm dreaming of my garden....sigh!
ReplyDeleteOh a girl after my own heart..... lots of pinks and greens! Have loved those two colors since I was a little girl... they just make me happy. I'm getting tired of looking at our white world too! In a couple of months we may be able to see the green grass again! I'll have to make something pretty out of my pink and greens fabrics.....
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful pictures of spring.. can't wait to plant flowers in my front yard.. but most probably my garden will go dry this year, as we are to remodeling our home.. :(..
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine having snow on the ground for most of the winter. It was hard for us to adjust to just one weekend of it! But, I did enjoy having some. It's so pretty. I know that you will be glad when it's melted and gone for the season. Just hang on to those good thoughts. "This too shall pass" is one of my favorite quotes. I say that to myself during difficult times. It's so true!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha we truly are on the same page Kris! Well now you've gone and made me long for it even more. That summer lounger is calling to me. ~Ann
ReplyDeleteI love your post about your garden space. I love summer also, but not when we were having summer 12 months out of the year for three years. I am so enjoying our rain, as the roses are dancing and blooming.
ReplyDeleteLiked your pinerist board on your garden/patio area. Can hardly wait to see what you do.
Have a great weekend and I hope it warms up for you.
Hugs,
Mary
Kris, I can't wait to re-connect with you and your green thumb! That door looks like something beautiful is coming!..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteI am so dreaming of summer. too, Kris. We were really planted in the wrong part of the country and now our families are planted around us so we are 'stuck' in a way. I long for summer, warm days, and pretty flowers. Your yard/porch was always so beautiful. Can't wait to see summer at your house this year.
ReplyDeleteUmmm...can't wait to see what Terry does with the IDEA you give him. lol....You are just too much, girlie! xo Diana
I sure did enjoy this post. I love your outdoor space. It is beautiful and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to what is up next to come out of the Terry and Kris Junk Chick Cottage Show!
You two are so creative!!!
Carla
So pretty...I like dreaming of spring and summer too. Winter is not my season. Too cold, too snowy and too much inside time! Today was 60 degrees...unheard of for January in the northeast, but I'll take it. I hope you got a bit of spring weather too! Can't wait to see what you did with the door...
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhh so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love it al and i dreaming of spring and summer.
I hate the cold and dark time.
Nice day Kris

So beautiful pictures of spring and of your outdoor space...so lovely!!! I can't wait to see the restyling of the door
ReplyDeleteHUgs Alessandra
Good morning Kris! Well, now after having such bitter COLD, I am starting to think about spring that WILL COME, but in the mean time, I have to keep warm! At least for me, since school started on the 9th, it seems as if January is flying by. Then there's February, and we'll almost be there! But no matter what, your home always looks wonderful. Can't wait to see the door all painted!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, that's for sharing the lovely pictures. Springs doesn't seem that far away after viewing them. Milena
ReplyDeleteI remember these pics Kris! So pretty! I love pink and green together. So feminine and fresh!
ReplyDeleteXXX
LOVE the door!!! Can't wait to see what you do. Don't hate me but I have tried to embrace every season because they come whether I like it or not
ReplyDeleteCindy
Oh I so remember your beautiful gardens! I can just imagine how anxious you are to get into your garden this year!
ReplyDeleteKris, I need you here to fluff our outdoor living area because it's seventy degrees and we're wearing shorts and t-shirts! (but last week not so much with the ice and snow storm....)
ReplyDeleteI think I pinned about five of these photos on my Shabby Chic Outdoor Spaces Pinterest Board.
Oh how I remember dreaming of summer days when I lived in Chicago. Moved to a sunny state years ago and we have flowers year round. Miss my hometown though. No one tells you that part. Your flowers and deck are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteEven though we aren't covered in snow, we are experiencing winter and I am craving garden days. I have a few flowers blooming, but my chaise covers are tucked away and I only dream of lying outside reading.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I love that old door. I'm playing with an old window today.
Love the punches of colors in the yard. Seems everyone is dreaming of spring. But I believe we still have about 70 days for the official onset of spring. We have had so much rain lately in Cali, that I was shocked to see sunlight highlighting areas in my back yard this morning. I personally and itching to get back out and finish the project I started last year. Hope you are having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteKris, love this post!! Yes, I'm looking forward to Spring here in San Diego too! We've gotten much needed rain. So I'm enjoying
ReplyDeleteit for right now. Can't wait to see what you do with the door.
Hugs, Jody ♥
This is getting me even more excited for spring, my husband and I just bought our first home in July and we did not have time for much landscaping/gardening due to planning a wedding at the time... but our yard needs SO much work and I am looking so forward to having time this spring to plant some beautiful flowers and do tons of landscaping! I will definitely be sharing some before and after photos to my blog whenever spring rolls around & looking to your blog for inspiration. :)
