I am moving along with lots of sorting, purging and packing up boxes for the move at the end of this month.
I am up to my eyeballs with bubble wrap! Sorting through the things I will take and finding new homes for things I will not be taking. |
Sorting and wrapping up my chippy pieces that will be used in the new cottage. |
So while I move through the process of sorting and packing. I wanted to take a moment here on my blog to wish each and everyone of you a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend.
While I was sorting and cleaning out my pantry cabinet I came across a precious Mother's Day gift from my youngest daughter Kimmie. Kim made this cookie recipe book for me when she was in 1st grade. |
On one side of the cookie recipe page was the kids version of how to make the special cookies and on the other side of the page was the mom's recipes! |
So cute to see the different interpretation of the recipes. |
As I continue through the sorting and packing process, I get a moment of love when I find things like this recipe book made for me by my daughter so long ago. Just love finding memories like this to move on to the new cottage.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and have a great mom's day.
Hugs,
Kris
So sweet to find the cute memory amongst your things. I love how children interpret their world. We could all learn a lesson from their insight...simplify the process and enjoy the results.
ReplyDeleteYour chippies even look wonderful stacked awaiting their cloak of bubble wrap. Excited for your new adventure.
And the very same to you, sweet Kris! I hope you take some time to relax on Mother's Day, in spite of all that needs to be done for the move.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have that recipe book! Such a precious treasure. Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day too! Hope you get to relax in between packing and get to spend some time with your family. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh, springels...love it. What a precious piece of Memory. Grins, makes you just want to bake cookies with her, I bet.
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Mom's Day, we are spending it with Hubby's mom, who is getting up there. Time is the most precious commodity, Sandi
Such a precious memento! Glad you are having some sweet moments in the midst of all of your hard work. Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteOh what a precious memory. Happy packing, I know the new place will be amazing. Also, Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteKris, I love the recipe book. So sweet how kids tell things. Oh I can see you have been so busy. I am wishing you a Happy Mother's Day also. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteKris, those childhood Mother's Day gifts are the best. Packing is so hard, but once you are moved I know you will be happy as you make your new home YOU>
ReplyDeleteOh- Those wonderful, precious memories those things bring up--and the tears that sometimes accompany them when we look back to those young innocent moments of their lives.
ReplyDeleteGood luck packing and purging. NOT an easy task at all but I know you will handle it with your usual 'nose to the grindstone' and get it done as quickly as possible. I can't wait to see your new place. I know that with your touches it will be just perfect! xo Diana
Kris,
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you! I love the recipe with the spirgles so darn precious! Believe it or not we put a bid on a house and I took a break from packing to see your post too funny! Somehow I don't know why I have most of this stuff and I realize the older I have gotten the boxes feel heavier. Shouldn't complain as God is good and we both have pretty places we are going to. I can't wait to see the flower boxes on the front of your new place. Wanted to tell you that target has those olive buckets, the large galvanized buckets with the slits in them they are so pretty with some roses or hydrangeas I got 2 of them and they were 1999 each I've seen them in cute shops as high as 50 so it's a good deal and so try and find them.kindest regards, Rachelle
What a sweet momento! Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that things are going well for you and I'm excited to see your "new" cottage. Happy Mother's Day to you too!
hugs,
Sissie
Precious memories!! Take care and don't overdo!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Happy Mother's Day to you too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special memory.
I saved a pot my oldest made me in 1st grade. It is all decorated in Star Wars drawings that my son did. ;-)
Praying for your week ahead as you sort and pack.
Have a special day with your mom and girls.
Carla
Now those are the best moments of moving and packing...finding a treasure that stops you in our tracks. I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day, Kris!! I hope you get a chance to step away from the bubble wrap for a bit to enjoy your kids and grands! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Happy Mother's Day Kris!! xox
ReplyDeleteKris, I hope you make special memories with your mom and girls on Mother's Day! I suppose it is a good thing that your house has sold, so you can proceed with the packing and purging that accompanies moving house. It's hard enough to keep a home "show" ready and that could cause extra work if the house was still listed. I hope the process goes smoothly and you can start decorating the new place. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo here you are packing again...but it leads you to your forever home....finding a lost treasure is like finding a gift under the Christmas tree...Wishing you a happy Mother's day with your Mom and girls...
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, Kris. :)
ReplyDeleteThings like the recipe book are real treasures! Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
ReplyDeleteGosh, how sweet is that?! Kris, I wish you a most restful Mother's Day, even if it's only a figment of your imagination. Love you.
ReplyDeleteRita

ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you also!
It's so nice to find that cute gift as you're, once again, in the difficult process of packing everything.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you dear friend. As you pack up for the next phase of your life, remember how much love you've created in this home, and how much more is in store for you in the next. I can't wait to see your new cottage!
ReplyDeleteKris, what a joy all the little memories bring. Life would be a very sad place without them. Looks like you are keeping busy and that is probably a good thing for you at this time. It won't be long now that you will be making new memories in your new home and I am getting so excited to see all that you do. Take care my sweet friend and Happy Mother's Day to you too..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious and sweet memory!
ReplyDeleteHugs Alessandra
that's one of the dearest things i've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteit will be spirgles on everything that has sprinkles to me now! LOL
i'm a cozy minimalist. meaning i always love less rather than more.
BUT there are just some things that we never get rid of.
and kimmie's precious little cookbook would be one.
one of my favorite things is simplifying and paring down. especially to move!
good luck on your new adventure! xo♥
Kris, this is so sweet. That little cookbook is pure treasure. It reminds me of the Dick and Jane books our firstborn made when he was little. I saved them until our move to FL but then made up folders for each of the kids with their childhood creations and gave them to them to keep. They had so much fun going through their stuff.
ReplyDeleteIsn't bubble wrap the best invention? After 2 out of state moves in the last year I am with you there in spirit, my friend. It takes a lot of it to protect those beautiful things but is well worth it. I bet you need a shoulder rub by nighttime, don't you? On the last move I sprained my wrist using the big tape dispenser and had to let RH seal all the boxes after I'd packed them! So be careful! It is exciting though! The hard thing was getting my mind to stop planning rooms at night when I needed to sleep.
Finding treasures like that makes moving, and all it entails, worthwhile. So precious!

I know this is an exhausting time but it will be over soon. I know you know that more than anyone. It's been over 21 yrs since I last moved. I dread it when the time comes. I hope you have a great Mother's Day weekend and can take Sunday off from packing.
ReplyDeleteSome things we always take with us and we know what they are without a thought; they simply get packed automatically!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, Kris!
Hugs,
Poppy
Hidden treasures are the best part of sorting through things.
ReplyDeleteI hope the move goes smoothly.
Happy Mother's Day
Hope you take the card with you!
ReplyDeleteHello Kris, I hope you had a nice Mother's Day. It is a lot of work you both are going through again. I am happy about your husbands job and hope that all works out for him. I know you will be happy to settle down and decorate your new home and settle down there. Take care and have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteJulie xo
Such a cute recipe book! Happy belated Mother's Day! xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteAren't those finds the best? Every time I have moved, I've found some forgotten treasure from my kids and I make sure to put them in a box with all the other memories.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely mother's day, Kris :)
xo,
rue
Oh those wonderful things from our children are the best of the best as far as treasures...ditch the crystal...keep the small handwritten notes and cards made by little hands and hearts. Happy packing Kris....you are truly an expert by now...but this time it is a very happy move! Regards to Terry!
ReplyDeleteMoving is always so tough, but what a blessing to find sweet joys like your daughter's handmade cookbook for you! Such a special memory for sure :)
