Summer Inspiration

Happy New Week Everyone.

First I want to thank all of you for your sweet and kind comments shared on my last post about losing our sweet Cooper.  He was a sweet boy and we miss him so.  That little guy with his long ears and big droopy eyes will be in our hearts forever!

I thought I would post some of my past flower garden pictures for a little inspiration and uplifting post today.  I am a summer girl and love my time with garden flowers.  I love to water, feed and just get my hands in the dirt.  So relaxing and peaceful for me.

With us moving at the end of May and construction starting at the new house,  I will probably have limited flowers this season at the new place.  I did order some cute flower boxes for the windows up front on the new cottage.  Hope to do a few beds of flowers out front too.  We will be staying with my daughter for a month or so after we close to get the construction under way of the new garage and basement before we officially move.  So I will be limited on what I can do in the garden this year with being far away to water everyday.

I will be taking out the lower bushes on the left side under the window to put up the new window boxes.  Then where the bushes are I will be putting in knock out roses and annuals to fill in the beds.  Eventually pavers will make this sidewalk look pretty too.

Here goes some of the past flower garden pics.  Enjoy the inspiration.

I have begun to take down and sell or wrap up  for this next move.  Packing up my favorites  to move on to the next cottage.

Enjoy this new week.  Hope to have upcoming changes to show you on the new cottage as we move forward.

Hugs,
Kris

  1. Wow, you are certainly going to miss having a garden to putter in this season! No doubt you will have time to do at least a little planting, I'm sure you can start planters at your daughter's house and then move them when you get into the new house. Can't wait to see what you do to make your new cottage as gorgeous as your last two! So sad about sweet Cooper, what a cute baby he was.

  3. Kris - Am so anxious to see all you do to make this new home "your home". I know it will be fantastic. It won't take you long to get it looking just perfect and gorgeous. I know the next month or so will be so hectic for you all but keep us posted, OK?

    Have a great week.

There seems to be an arc about your whole ordeal. I'm so happy that you have found such a lovely place to make your home.

  7. It is always a joy to see your gardens Kris. I am in the say boat. With the building of this new house, we will not be in until July or August. So I will plant some shrubs and trees in the fall.

  10. Kris, when I see petunias I think of you. It gets too hot very quickly and petunias are really just for the cooler spring. I am in awe when I see yours. You and I both will have limited gardening this year but plenty of time to be inspired and plan. Can't wait to get my hands in the dirt again. :)

  14. Wow, Kris! I've seen photos over time of your lovely deck and yard with all the gorgeous blooms, but this "burst" of color post is simply amazing. And then there are all your fabulous accessories. The signs, the bicycle, and all the other cottagey touches. I'm in heaven looking at these photos. Like you I'm a summer girl. Love digging in the dirt and seeing my cottage garden grow. I can't wait to see your window boxes. They are going to make your little cottage so adorable. Hugs, Nancy

  16. Good morning Kris! Seeing your photos from your first house (at least when I met you on blogging), bring back many happy smiles. I just know you are going to personalize this new and darling cottage with your touch. It's definitely worth it to get all the basic and important things done first (the basement, the garage) so you can have the REAL FUN when all that is in place. I hope that during your waiting period at your daughter's house, that the weather will be gorgeous and at least you can enjoy the warmth.

    HAPPY MAY!

  19. Sigh...I think your garden pictures are what really made me fall in love with your blog! (Although the inside ones were just as captivating). After losing my mom, I lost my joy in gardening and my beds suffered for it. Hoping to recapture it with the new beds I put in at the farm. Working on simplifying the city house ones (I only have so much energy and time or I'm just ready to move on!)
Can't wait to see the progress on the new place! I hope you'll get to enjoy some growing time before summer ends!
    Hugs,
    Cecilia

  20. It is always lovely to revisit the gardens at your homes. This year may be only pots and planters for your new cottage but just wait until next year. I can just see you incorporating many of the beautiful features into your new gardens. You are so good about keeping us all informed on what is going on...too bad our interest doesn't translate into actual help...ha! Busy, exciting days ahead for you. xoxo

  21. I have a strong feeling that Cottage III's gardens are going to be even more spectacular! I know that back yard is going to be absolutely amazing when you put your magic touch to it. Any updates on finding your Mom a senior's living center?

  22. Such inspiration! The time will fly and before you know it you will be working in your garden next year...enjoying the sun, scents and lovelies. The picture of your lounger is one I see frequently on other sites as a "dream space". You are an inspiration to many! I have been working on redoing my back yard from one of primarily lawn to one of no lawn and all "Junk" (garden art) and pretty plants.
Enjoy the time you will be spending at your daughters. Hope all continues to improve with your mother and hoping you are able to find suitable new residential facility for her soon.
Have a blessed late spring day.

  23. I'm so thankful I knew Cooper through your blog, Kris.

And your pictures are inspirational. All those pinks and lavenders are calling my name but I think it is your touch of magic that makes them flourish so.

    Take care,
    Dewena

  24. I am always just in awe of how beautiful your old yard was, kris. The neat thing is I know that the new place will be just as pretty or even prettier. You and I are both summer peeps and love all the lushness of green growing things. Well, I do like Fall, too, as well as I like summer actually---but I love summer for the wonderful growing season we get here in the Midwest. Love to you- Happy new house!! xo Diana
