Happy New Week Everyone.
This is our old front door. While it was ok I was not into the gold hardware and gold running through the window in the door. A little dated for me! |
It worked pretty good. |
This door has a better curb appeal and cottage feel. |
Have a great new week ahead. Wish us luck on getting the garage done without any more road blocks and the basement walls and ceilings in this week too. PS...!!!!! |
She looks like a Lucy to me. Sweet, sweet face.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything in the coming weeks!
I love Lucy!
ReplyDeleteSO glad your garage is far enough along you can plan moving. Love the front door with black hardware.
Fingers crossed for a good week!
Rita
You've been on quite a roller coaster ride with all this. It makes me very sad to think Rosa went from a home to a kennel and never even had her name spoke to her. I think she looks like a Lucy!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kris
ReplyDeleteOh your Garage looks fantastic already* love love love that new front door and your floors are beautiful. I am so happy you are adopting that sweet girl. Well I really love the name Emma so much but I have to tell you she looks like a Lucy to me. Good luck with your decision
enjoy this glorious day Kris
deezie
I know you are so over all the mess!! Love your new flooring. Great front door as I hate the gold running through mine and hope I can talk the man into changing ours some day, but I dare not mention that now with the bathroom reno going on. He might flip a lid!! Your husband and mine know how to make anything work. We are lucky to be married to handy men. Any name you pick will be perfect. I say go with the one that came to you first. I used to work with a girl who had a basset named Lucy.
ReplyDeleteLucy was the name of one of our favorite dogs. I'd love to see another Lucy here on your blog! Fingers crossed for no more delays, Kris. I can only imagine how much you want to get settled in your own home. Love the floors, and the door!
ReplyDeleteKris, It seems you kids have had to almost stand on your heads to get things done right on the new home. It should be much smoother now that the crews are gone. Terry did well on the door and you changing the hardware to black turned out nice. I love those wide planked floors. You know I love the name Emma. :):) I also like Emily. So that's my vote. Blessings to you and Terry for being so patient . xoxo, love, Susie
ReplyDeleteLucy....LuLu!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the new front door.
Setbacks are a way of life with construction. Good luck!
Great new front door! What curb appeal!
ReplyDeleteYou're right when dogs come to any name. I know when we adopted a rescue they told us her name was Sue but I liked Abby and she comes to Abby. So there you go whatever name you give her she knows she will be loved. Dogs can sense if you are the right one for them.
Lucy for sure!
ReplyDeleteYeah for all of the progress! I know you are as anxious to move into your home as I am in mine! I vote Emmy.
ReplyDeleteLucy was the name I gave the dog who became my favourite of all 6 dogs that I've owned in my life. That name will always have a special place in my heart so I vote Lucy.
ReplyDeleteYour door looks amazing and congrats on the garage (so envious!). Have a wonderful week Kris!
I vote for Emmy!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed following your journey. Is there a post about the new floors? Are they hardwood, laminate, the new luxury vinyl?
The door is beautiful!
Hi Rachel,
DeleteIf you go up on the side bar of my posts you will see the floor post in the July posts. The floor is from Menards and is made by Mohawk. They look and feel like real wood but are laminate. So easy to clean. They click together and no glueing or nailing. They are the nicest looking floors. I love them. Hope that helps.
I ♡ Lucy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteSo glad it is finally all coming together - love the floors and front door. Lucy is the name that stood out for me - her big, brown eyes remind me of an old friend who had that same name.
ReplyDeleteI love your new floors and that door! It's perfect for your cottage look! I want a new front door for the farm, but it will have to wait until after the wedding! Can't stress my guy out, lol. I cannot believe all the trouble you have had with permits, contractors and such. Grrrr! So annoying. I am going to pray especially hard for the rest to go smoothly so y'all can get moved in.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you are going to give sweet Rosa a loving home. Rosa doesn't fit her at all! I say name her the name you feel fits her best - you will know which one resonates with her and you all. I think you are right about her not cycling because of stress. Poor baby. But it's good because she gets to go to a loving home.
Have a wonderful week, Kris! I'm believing all will go smoothly this week!
Hugs,
Cecilia
Lucy. That way when you walk in the door you can call out "Lucy, I'm Home"! Your door fix is exactly the same issue we had when we moved into our small house. We had a similar front door and purchased the same door you did. It looks so much better! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you decided to start living in your new home with this precious bundle of joy! She is one lucky dog. Love the craftsman door! Perfect for that home. I was going to tell you to paint the hardware, but then I scrolled down and you were way ahead of me. I'm so happy that you'll be moving soon into your new home. And that Rosa, Peggy or whatever you name her will be with you soon.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Lucy! ❤️
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are giving this sweet dog a fur-ever home! I'm in the minority with the name Peggy...although "Lucy, I'm hooooome!" resonates nicely...ha! Your front door is perfect for your cottage. The floors look great...things are moving along...can't wait to see all your chippy goodness in place. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are moving along again. Hurrah!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, been a while. Taking a break since the new infusion drug. Good things happening so enjoying parts of my life I haven't had f or two years.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are getting another fur baby. I'm in the minority, I love Emmy.
Cindy
LOVE the door, LOVE the floors, LOVE the new fur baby! so glad things are starting to get moving again!
ReplyDeleteAt first I was going to say Emmy !!
ReplyDeleteBut then I really looked at the picture of her sweet face and her reddish ears and
She really looks like a Lucy to me.
All she has been through in the kennel and yet her eyes look so happy.
She knows Her forever new Home is near.
Love the new Door.
Cannot wait to see the decorating begin.
Enjoy it all even with the setbacks.
Well, I thought she looked like an Emma...but it seems like Lucy is the clear choice! The house looks great. We need a new front door, too. I love the one you chose. Fingers crossed that the crews are out of your hair very soon. Here's hoping!
ReplyDeleteLucy Lucy Lucy! She will bring you happiness and her reddish hair is just like Lucy. I am so happy you are going to spoil her. She deserves s happy home. God bless you and your hubby for saving her. You place is looking very nice!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Yay on the garage! A lot has been accomplished. Your front door pick is perfect, Kris! And you made the hardware look great! And yay for deciding to adopt Rosa! She will be sooooo happy as your only dog, with lots of spoiling, no doubt! I like the name Emmy because it is easy to say and looks good on her, at least from this pic. But you will be best at deciding her name since you'll know her personality. I can't wait to see her living with you in your new cottage!
ReplyDeleteYour home is coming along beautifully! Love the black handles. I love the names that you have come up with. Emmy is my Mom's name and my good friend is Lucy and I went school with Peggy! See great names. How about Celie, - is means Angel! Whatever you pick it will be perfect because she will know it is from you.
ReplyDeletexoxo Jo
First of all, I vote Lucy. Second of all, I'm all caught up on the home updates! I LOVE that flooring! Maybe it was blessing in disguise that you couldn't sand the old stuff again??? Hope the rest of your updates go as planned and you get in the house ASAP.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled you're adopting that sweetie! She looks like a Lucy to me. Oh, the joy y'all are going to bring to each others lives! Yay! Love your new floors too. And great idea to paint the door hardware. Wishing you good luck that everything will fall into place and there will be no more delays. You'll be moved in before you know it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you have taken an older dog into your home. I hope you receive great rewards for that. I vote Lucy because I have a Lucy also. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteShe looks like a Lucy to me too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are moving right along for you!!
ReplyDeleteEmmy stood out to me, endearing. Looks like Lucy has the majority vote though.
Hope all goes smoothly with the finishing of the garage and that you'll soon be moving into your new home. I like your new front door.
FlowerLady
Kris, I know it is different for you, having to live through it, but seems to me that garage went up awfully fast. Anything seems "fast" in comparison to how we work around here! The new door is just perfect. Sets up what will be going on inside so well. Hardware looks good as new. I am so happy for you and little "Lucy". What a doll. I'm so glad she is getting her forever home, that breeding process must be so hard on those poor females. Glad she is through with all that. Our daughter wanted us to adopt another little dog, just like Kai, only white, named Bella. But hubby said no for now. Kai said he was sure hoping he could share his bed with Bella, I told my daughter, "Typical male"!!!..Happy Monday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteForgot to say those floors are scrumptious!!xxoJ
ReplyDeleteYou and hubby need a Lucy in your life!!!! Love those floors.
ReplyDeleteHouse is looking great! I vote for Lucy.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like a Lucy to me. I know she will love her new home. Congrats to you three.
ReplyDeleteLucy ~ AKA Lulu!!! :)
ReplyDeleteRosa to me.......she looks like a Rosa and that is a darling name....2nd choics is Lucy. She's a lucky girl to find you two. I would call her Lucky! My sister adopted a greyhound from a shelter and they named her Lucky! Because she was.......lucky Lucy. She looks so much like Cooper! so glad your garage is coming along and love your new cottage front door. Hugs......
ReplyDeleteI love the name Lucy! Congrats on your new adoption! Love your new door. I'm glad to see that things are starting to speed up for you. I'm not a patient person so I can relate to your frustration.
ReplyDeleteI love Emmy...it's so sweet.
ReplyDeleteHi there Kris, good luck on everything on your new house. It is a lot you are dealing with and very stressful. In the end it will all work out great for you guys. It helps to have a handy husband like yours too.
ReplyDeleteI really think your dog is just the cutest and congrats to you with her. I really like her name Rosa but I also like Lucy. Have fun picking out a name for her and give her hugs from me and Bosco.
Hugs, Julie
Yay, I see a garage! Much better choice for the front door. Well Lucy just has that perfect ring to it or my second choice, Emma. Sounds like you're on the home stretch (finger's crossed).
ReplyDeleteI would call her ROSE! I know it's not on the list. I think it fits her!
ReplyDeleteLove your new front door! It's perfect for the cottage! You guys are amazing with all the work you do to make your new cottage awesome!
deb
I would call her Peggy. Or Emmy Lou. That is another beautiful name. She is a sweetie, I know the name Sweet Pea is not on the list but that is another name that would really fit her disposition. Another name you might consider is Molly or Miss Molly. Good luck on all your set-backs. It really is frustrating when a contractor makes enough mistakes to send you over budget and postpone all the finish work so you can move in. But oh boy will it be worth it. Can't wait to see all your decisions on how to work with your chippy pieces. Your front door really made the cottage feel curb appeal. Also love the floor choice. If you couldn't save the original floors, those were a great choice. I wish I had floors that you could just swift and forget about. But when you rent, you make do. Can't wait for you to move in and show more of the house. Best Wishes to smooth sailing and move. Margaret
ReplyDeleteYour door is looking awesome... We now going though the remodeling phase, this is very hard ..
ReplyDeleteReno's are the worse things to live through. Hoping yours goes well.
DeleteHugs,
Kris
Your house is really taking shape, and I love your front door! I know you can't wait to bring little LUCY home ;P
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, Everything looks like it is coming along great at your new cottage. I love the new door so cottagey and the new flooring is gorgeous. Thank goodness you are doing that while still empty. We just finished a major handscraped wood flooring project in three rooms and staircase but thankful the crew moved all the furniture!! So glad that sweet fur baby will be coming to live with you. I think she looks like an Emmy!!
ReplyDeleteHope the garage finish continues well. Have a good week dear one. xo
YEA, I just knew you would go and get Miss Sweet Emma. She is darling and she will be well loved at your home.
ReplyDeleteThe door looks terrific and WOW on the garage. So your moving right along.....
Lot of hugs for Miss Sweet Emma.
Mary
PS love the floors also and they definitely look cottage
ReplyDeleteMary
Kris,
ReplyDeleteYour new door is a perfect fit for your cottage. You are fornuate that your door size can be purchased mass market Home Depot. We just custom ordered a new front door, 8-10 week wait, solid thick mahogany 6 paneled with a modern cut and way to expensive. But that's the problems you have with old houses. Your wood floors look pretty and I know you will love them. Congrats on your sweet girl who will be adored.
xoxo
Hi Kris, Your floors look great and the new door is beautiful too. I love that you chose black for the hardware makeover.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you and Emmy :) that you decided to adopt her. She'll finally have a loving home.
xo Julia
Yes that front door and the shaker style panels is a perfect fit for your cottage. Loving the progress and hopefully we will see you completely moved in soon enough.
ReplyDeleteAs for Rosa, she will have a dream family caring for her and a perfect cottage life.
Xx
Dore
So glad you're taking this sweet fur baby into your loving home! I asked her and she requested Emmy or Emma. Those are her favorites! Really happy that the garage is coming along and hope that the basement will soon. Love the floors and the new front door! Much better suited to the style than the old door. You have the same porch light that we have here and we also had it at our othet house! Still working on my emailing. Sorry it's taking a while. Love and hugs!

ReplyDeleteShe looks like a LUCY to me!!!!! Congratulations, on all levels, Kris and Terry! AND, that door. My neighbor put up this very same door on his newly sided cottage and it looks SO fantastic. Finally, that garage is up and my dear friend, only a matter of time until all of this settles. I wish you continued happiness with this cottage AND with Miss LUCY!
ReplyDeleteP.S., smart idea for the hardware. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteLucy is by far my favorite! Everyone that hears you calling her will just smile at that name and she looks like a Lucy for sure. Love the front door, can't wait to see all the changes, you guys have great taste! If you're ever in MN, you can help me decorate some of my areas. :-)
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you wish for I might be at your doorstep someday lol!
DeleteAnytime, any day! :-)
DeleteI'm so glad you are giving that sweet girl a home, Kris! I'm partial to the name Lucy as my sweetie's cat is named Lucy - he rescued her from the side of the road during a snowstorm when she was just a teeny baby! I love your new front door - I have been thinking of painting my doors (of course when will I have the time??????) but haven't settled on a color yet. I also need a new screen door, the old one has had it. It's always something, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI hope that the garage will be finished soon so you can move in! Love the floors and the door!!! .... and I think she looks like a Lucy Lou to me!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the thought of her being called by her original name Rose.
ReplyDeleteThe floors and door looks great..the door certainly is much so cute for a cottage home...Remodeling is the worse thing one can go through...and then some.. Hope things are moving in the right direction for you now. Whenever I see your dogs sweet face I get a sense of a kind, gentle soul. To me, Emma just suits her...Pretty and all the makings of a fine lady!
ReplyDeleteI love the new front door...very pretty and classic.
ReplyDeleteOne of our grandgirls named her puppy Emmy so I am partial to that name. She sure is a cute dog.
This post just warms my heart Kris! Look at that precious face! It's almost as if Cooper sent her to you. The right name will come to you, but admittedly I'm fond of Lucy. Probably because that's my nickname (reddish hair and always getting into trouble).
ReplyDeleteYour door is perfect, and great idea to paint the hardware. Necessity is the mother of invention!
xxx
I like the new door a lot. And what a great idea to keep the hardware and paint it... I hate the handle on my front door... Maybe I could do something like that...
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that the name Lucy means "light". But I'm pretty sure you'll find the perfect name as soon as she's with you.
I vote for Lucy.It seems like a perfect name for her. I hope your garage is done soon and you are able to move in. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Emma, she looks like an Emma to me.
ReplyDeleteI love the new door. You have such a good eye for what to do. It looks great.
Carla
Lucy is such a cheerful name! I'm so happy to see this, Kris! I knew you would someday. Lucky lucky Lucy--or whatever you decide to name her! I understand how you wished you could take all of them into your home. When we went to the dachshund rescue place there were about 30 there and after we chose our two boys I could hardly look the others in the eye, I hated leaving them there, although this was one of the best rescue organizations I'd ever seen.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see the garage taking shape! And my husband and I both love the new floors. I had to call him to come look at your post and the new front door because he knows how I hate this old solid one. I just had to pin it just in case.
I vote for "Lucy" as I have a Lucy who is half Chihuahua and half Maltese. She is only six pounds and we love her with all our heart. I call her Lucy Bell or Lucy Goosey, lol. Good luck with your dog, they are the best!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking like your home. Congratulations on your dog.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Emmy or Lucy, I think those are both cute names to fit such a cute dog. :) It sounds like she has gone to a great home! My husband and I have three dogs and they are our babies! Spoiled rotten. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the door you replaced your old one with! I bet it made such a huge difference. So simple but so beautiful.
Chasity
Lucy!! Good luck with your new family member....love your front door, too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see the progress is coming along. Before you know it you will be walking through your new front door on a permanent and regular basis. BTW the door is perfect for your cottage. I love the name Emmy for your new little girl. She looks like a sweety. And I am sure she will feel as if she is living in paradise in your home. Luck to you in the continued progress of your cottage
ReplyDeleteI vote for Lucy reminds me of the word lucky . I am so glad she will have a loving home and it may take a month for her to love her new home however she will adjust. I learned this from past adopting dogs
ReplyDeleteLove how the new home is coming along
I had a dog many years ago that was called Peggy. She was a Beautiful dog, and I, off course, can't remember the name of her sort now!! Can it be German Shephard? Well, she was a good dog.
ReplyDeleteYour home will be fantastic and I only hope that you'll be able to stay there for many years.
Love Elzie
Congratulations you two!!! So much excitement (and I feel your pain with the workers being there) and I love your new door. I too am blessed with a hubby to works miracles with all things DIY. So happy for you and your new girl! What a lucky, lucky pup. I know too many Emmas and one Peggy. Lucy is one of the nicknames that Geo calls me. I love that one. I like Daisy too... because it's a happy name and daisies are white... they match the decor just like she does. xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this post before. What a mess you have had going on there. It looks like you are getting close to home row now. Thank God! It has been a long haul for you with one thing after the other.
ReplyDeleteLove that you are getting a new 'baby' to love on. Your home would just not be complete without a pet in it. I am not crazy about the Emily/Emma for her but I do love Lucy and I just read the one above me and think Daisy is really cute too. Peggy was John's first wife so---feel free with that one. lol
I like your new front door a lot. It is perfect for your cottage.
Hope you have a good night- I am off to Mindy's house tomorrow. xo Diana
Oh wow! Once it the garage went up, it went up fast!
ReplyDeleteI like Lucy, but I have a cat by that name. It means light.
xoox Su
I'm a little late to the polling place, but I vote for Lucy. Thanks for explaining the reason the breeder ended up with her.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the new door. It looks fantastic! xo
ReplyDeleteI learned this from past adopting dogs
