Fireman Cave/ Family Room

Hi Everyone,
Here is a video of the before basement and after the renovation basement.  I thought it would be easier to see this room through before and after videos.  Just get a better feel for the room through a video than still pics.

Grab a frosty beverage and enjoy the mini before and after videos.

Have a great Weekend.

  1. Kris, I will say, Terry and you never let any grass grow under your feet. LOL That basement is looking wonderful. I love all Terry's nice collection of his years in the fire fighting service. He is a real hero. I love your sweet touches here and there. Like the new picture. The shutters by the window. Great job and kudos to both of you. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, love, Susie

  4. Great idea for the before and after basement - a place for the fireman and family and friends and good storage, bathroom and a laundry room as well as an outside door. Looks great.

  5. What a fabulous space! I love all the fire mementos (we love all the Chicago series on TV, Baylor Proud!!) And, loved listening to your sweet accent. Reminds me of when we go back home to MI.

  6. WOW it looks terrific. You are sure a wonderful team fixing a basement into a great family room and Terry's man cave. I see Miss Peggy was taking a nap while her mamma was filming. Everything looks amazing Kris. Great job.

So many wonderful fire mementos. I always think that maybe I will see Terry on the show Chicago Fire. Love the show. Being that I used to live there for a couple of years and seeing all the places I used to go. I traveled there for 20 years on business, so it's like a second home.

    Enjoy your new cottage.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  7. Well, You missed your calling, Kris. You did a great job of videotaping BOTH the before and after. Great job!!!! How about a makeup tutorial next? lol

Listen, you tell that Terry to leave those poles alone for the girlfriend's party! You know there is always pole dancing going on after everyone tips a few. Seems to me one of the Sandys might be up for that..lol (some people will actually read this and believe that, you know).

Can't wait to see more and more and more. Fantastic tour. It really shows you what can be done in a smaller space. You carved out a whole lot of things in your space there! Great job by both of you! xo Diana

  8. KRIS! First of all, it's so cool to hear your warm and sweet voice! I think this was a great way to see how much work you have put into this space. Taking us through each corner and seeing the contrasts is inspiring. Both of you, wherever you are planted, you always make the space so much prettier. Great job on this basement. It's absolutely gorgeous! And I love that Peggy has claimed this space.

  9. Kris, outstanding! I remembered that first video, but watched it again. Terry's downstairs (yest, I'm calling it HIS even though you & Peggy think otherwise) is incredible in its transformation. It may have taken a long time outside, but you guys have worked your butts off making the inside all the while. His decor is just awesome. His framed shields are the best, but I am so loving all the little great things you found for his bath! You give me great ideas for my sil. Your traded table and coordinating chairs are super, so are the chairs your daughter saved. Good call getting them back. Have a great weekend.

  11. What a fabulous place to entertain and relax, Kris! I love the industrial table and chairs you added to one side of the room. So perfect for eating or playing games! Now that you've finished it off with style, it doesn't even look like a basement anymore. Terry's fireman collection really personalizes the space and gives you each a sanctuary in your home. Peggy looks very comfortable down there too! Thanks for the tour and have a great weekend!!

  13. Kris, what a transformation! I had viewed the original video and really enjoyed the new one. You and Terry are top-notch renovators. Terry has such a good collection of fireman and firehouse memorabilia and it's great he has a place for all of it. Love the shutters on either side of the window. The table and chairs is perfect. Peggy is cute, snoozing through your whole video. Enjoy your weekend...xoxo

  16. Wow! What a difference! Love how it's all coming together and the extra space it provides. The shutters and pictures are just perfect, plus I like the couches angled in the room. It looks great and I know you'll get it finished out to perfection! Fun to see it through videos too! I need to figure that out.

  17. Great transformation!! Like all your choices flooring, carpet, wall colors!! Decorating with his fireman theme perfect for a man cave but woman allowed feel!! LOL!! How high is your ceiling? Looks higher than most basements of that era. Adds great value to your home!

  18. What a great set-up you have in your new basement (I can hardly call it a basement, it's so much more than that!). You and Terry did such a great job of transforming it into a livable, comfortable, and attractive space. Wow! Love all of Terry's badges and the various things he's collected through the years. Really interesting; lots of conversation pieces. Well done, my friend! Hugs.

  21. Dear Kris this video has touched my heart and I even had John watch this video with me saying to him - this is why I love Kris and Terry. Seeing your design vision, honoring the heart felt love of your fire man and his cave touched both our hearts. Oh and the awards ... amazing plus the fire bucket with TT Paper OMG you won my heart!

  22. Hi Kris
Oh wow I don't know where to begin. That is just gorgeous and so so cozy looking. I love the couches on angles like that. I love that table and those shutters and those cute chairs. You have a really big space down there. the bathroom is really nice size also and so cute with the fireman theme stuff in there also. I love that bucket holding the toilet paper. How cute is Peggy sitting there sleeping like that. You really have made yourself a cozy, beautiful home

  23. You've accomplished a lot! I don't have time to sit and watch the video and I can't get the audio very well unless I turn up my speaker really high and then it hums. :( But congrats on getting so much done. I look forward to seeing your photos so that I can look at all the details. Love this new cottage!

  24. You two are killin’ it in your new abode! You absolutely made the most of that space, and I completely agree about the position of the sofas. Anything else just wouldn’t have made sense. Such a great man cave, Terry must be thrilled that all his hard work (and yours) paid off in a big way,

  25. It's amazing what you guys did with the basement, Kris! This is such a great space now and looks very comfy. It's wonderful that there is even room for a dining table. Peggy seems to enjoy the basement as well. How did her teeth surgery go? I hope she recovered a bit already.
    Have a lovely Sunday!

  26. Holy Cow....I didn't even recognize the basement. What a transformation. I can not wait to see everything that you have done in person. You and Terry never cease to amaze me!!

  27. I’m so impressed with how fast you guys get things done. I like the way you broke up the space and made it so customized. All the fireman accents are wonderful- I love the cute ax towel rack and the little bucket in the bathroom. Having a 2nd refrigerator is a good idea- we have one downstairs and it comes in handy for extra beverages and even things like the turkey before you bake it. The carpet looks beautiful and I know it will help with warmth. Kudos to both of you for your persistence and hard work!

  28. Wow! What progress and it all looks amazing. Given all the fire dept paraphernalia, I'd be tempted to keep one of those poles and deck it out like an old fireman's pole :) Have a great week Kris!

  29. I loved the tour! It’s nice to hear your voice! I’ve been in my share of fire stations and this space reminds me of a day room in a fire station! So cool! I think it’s because of the reclining sofas facing the large tv and all the fire department paraphernalia everywhere. Even the table out in the open. I think the poles in the room should be painted to look like brass fire poles!

  31. Kris, what a great start. It all looks so comfortable and yet you don't lose track of the "fireman's cave". The mystery remains, though, how does Miss Peggy get herself up on that sofa? Her legs look a lot like Kai's and he could never make it on his own! Terry, I don't think that the accessories in your fireman bath are cute at all!!! Everything is just coming together beautifully..Happy Week..xxoJudy

  33. Well done! A great space and I just love how you and Terry work together. I like his bucket in the bathroom. How fun, what would you put in it instead of toilet paper. I want to hear if you do change that out on him, hee hee! I thought it was cute he did put toilet paper in it.

Peggy, so sweet, sleeping thru the tour.

  34. I loved this video! You have done such a great job! I like the couches at an angle. It looks nice and like you said, makes it easy for everyone to see the tv. I also like all the fireman touches in the bathroom. And sweet Peggy...she is so precious!
