Happy Friday Everyone.
I have been working on changing up my living room. I have been challenge to make these tiny cottage rooms work in our new home.
I thought I would show you a little sneak peek and hopefully after the weekend I will have the room finished. Fingers crossed. I am still waiting on the slipcovers I am having made for the two Ikea ottomans. Hopefully those will be on my doorstep soon.
Here we go for the little peek.......

Let me say I am so grateful 2017 is over and we are on to a new 2018. 2017 was a hard year for us. Lots of good blessings but lots of stress with moving, renovating etc. My word for 2018 is grateful. I am grateful we are settled and grateful to find a new normal in our lives. |
|
This is the reclining couch. I have removed it from the room to open up the window and space. I am gifting this couch to my youngest daughter that is in the process of buying her first home. She is very excited so no worries this pretty couch will have a wonderful new home. |
|
The other day I was poking around on Offer Up a resale site. I found this old vintage Bombay chest on there for a steal. I did not get a before picture to show you. Trust me it needed some love and white paint. I finished this beautiful piece this week. I am always having to shoot into the back light that streams in this room. You will just have to take my word for it this piece with the light coming in the room looks fabulous. |
|
The chest staying here under the window and my two slipcovered white chairs will be anchoring on each side of this piece in the room. The room really opened up by taking out the couch and now just having the two chairs and the chest in between. |
|
Another super cute find this week was this old mantel clock missing the clock parts. No issues it just needed some white paint too. Love its sweet legs. It is adorning the top of the new chest. |
|
I am having fun playing with my decor pieces as I change up this room.
The best part of this room change up is I only had to buy a new rug and get two little slipcovers sewn for the two Ikea ottomans. I will have a whole new look to this room to show you soon.
Patience is not my thing lol! So waiting on the rug and the slipcovers to come has been hard. Hopefully soon I will have them at my front door and I can finish up this room to show.
It amazes me how just moving out a piece of furniture and moving around some of the other furniture makes a big difference in the way the room now looks.
Have a great Weekend. xoxo Kris |
Kris, You tickled me about your patience...I think you seem to have tons of it. Not me. LOL. That clock find is adorable. So clever to use a wee nest with eggs. Hope you are staying warm up there. I am ready for some flowers....may pick some up at the store. ;) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLooking wonderful! I love your word for 2018. I know what you mean about the stress of 2017! Do you have new curtains too?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the chest. I am amazed at the same thing. This house is so different in size from the previous house, so I am constantly moving furniture around too and it makes a really huge difference. Can't wait to see the new room.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished room....love your new chest!!! Your cottage might be small but it has amazing sunlight! Have a great weekend!!

Patience is not my thing either! I’m drying to imagine what you’ve got cooked up. The clock piece turned out so cute- love how you used the accents on it. Wow on the Bombay piece- I’ve always wanted to get one of those. I spent the day emptying and re-organizing the shelves in my utility closet. So much fun (not) well the end result makes me happy! AFter we moved a few times I told Dan that it seems as thought trying to make furniture work in a new space isnt always possible so we end up swapping things out. Your daughter is a lucky little lady to get that sofa! Have a fun weekend!
ReplyDelete*trying to imagine
DeleteYou are such a tease! I can't wait to see the room reveal. I know it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am the WORST at patience too :)! I was very happy to turn the calendar to 2018 too and hoping to feel as settled and grateful at the end of this year as you are now. Looking forward to seeing how this room transforms. It is already beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

ReplyDeleteLove the Bombay chest! That is a style I have always admired but never bought a piece. The clock is adorable...anyone else would have bypassed it or thrown it away. Your daughter will put the couch to good use. Does she share your love of white and chippy goodies? Excellent word for the year! xoxo

ReplyDeleteThe chest is beautiful - great bones obviously and you worked wonders with it. I'm always in such a rush that I often forget the 'before' pics myself. The little clock too is adorable.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love the chest underneath the window and can't wait to see the chairs and ottomans flanking it! That little clock is so sweet! Have fun "playing"! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou are a genius person who always make everything to treasure.. love your style and your artistic sense..
ReplyDeleteYour Bombay chest is a treasure and of course your magical touch of love and paint transformed her into a show piece. You truly are blessed with such a talent and an eye for decorating, but more than that you create from your heart and it shows!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wishes to you for a sweet week!

Kris, it is looking wonderful. Love your finds of the chest and the clock. I used to love moving my furniture around but in our Cottage it is harder to do as there are so many doorways and with no central hallway, I can't do too much other than what I already have done. Pillows and pretty things will have to do and, darn, that means another trip to Homegoods! Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteLove the Bombay cabinet you found, and the coat of white paint really dressed it up! It is all coming together to feel like home, and I think grateful is a wonderful word for your year :)
ReplyDeleteYou really did a terrific job on that chest - it's beautiful. Everything looks great so far. Looking forward to seeing the end results.
ReplyDeleteHope you are staying warm. How's Miss Peggy?
Hugs,
Mary

You change up your décor as often as I change underwear!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
DeleteUsually I do not reply to rude comments but today I am feeling a little feisty to do so. First of all I have not changed up this room since October when we moved into our home. The only change up before this was Christmas decor. So if you change your underwear as often as I change my decor then your underwear must be pretty gross. I wish when you leave a comment like this you would not be someone that hides behind a no reply or has no email or way to respond. I was always taught if you do not have anything nice to say then do not say anything. Move on from my blog if you do not like what you see here or what I like to do with my personal space and decor that I share. You are the first person I have had in my 7 years of blogging that has been rude like this. So I am asking you nicely to please move on if you do not like how much or how little I change my decor.
Kris
I, too, love your use of the olden clock...I have one almost like it that chimes....it belonged to my mom and now I want to unpack it and put it on my mantel...xo
ReplyDeleteI am sure your daughter is so very excited to get that sofa! Love that bombay chest and you truly worked your magic on it!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your total room reveal!
It amazes me how quickly you put a room together. I am STILL working on finishing rooms just the way I want them - 27 years later! ha ha But that's also because I change things up a lot, I guess.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris and Happy New Year. Your living room is going to look gorgeous I know. It's great that you are giving the couch to your daughter to use. I like the way the chest will look in place of it. I can't wait to see the chairs and the rug, I know it will look great.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Kris!! I so enjoy seeing your creative mind at work (I don't think it ever stops). I am in love with your old clockless clock... it is perfect! Looking forward to your new reveal! xo
ReplyDeleteYou always discover the best stuff, Kris. I'd love to find a bombay chest like that. I have the perfect place for it. Enjoy your lovely home. Hugs.
