Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. Hope your weekend has been good. We hit in the 80's this weekend.
I got my front flowers planted and oh how I am feeling it! My back and knees are screaming!!! I am trying to put in more and more perennials but I still love the annuals. So glad I can finally be planting in the garden. Nothing like digging in the dirt.
Now for the Living Room Reveal. I got my slipcovers this past week so now I can show you how the living room is coming along.
This was the foyer before. |
I took away the cedar chest in the Foyer and added this little chippy chair I got on our trip to Michigan. |
Love this sweet little chippy chair. Just adds some charm to the entry way. |
Moved the expand o matic table under the mirror from the other side of the room. |
Added some of my garden decor in the entry way for summer. |
Did not touch my old lake house window and shutters. In this tiny house that is really the only wall that will fit on. |
Now on to the Living Room change a roo!
This is how my living room looked with two chairs and the vintage dresser. It made the room feel bigger having just the two chairs but I always felt it needed something more. |
I wanted a conversation area for this living room. So I added two more chairs. I had the lovely and talented Lisa from Fabric 8 Slipcovers take my Ikea slipcover and add a ruffle to the bottom to match the other two chairs. If you need a simple ruffle added to an existing slipcover or a whole new slipcover Lisa is your girl. Her work is outstanding. This is her website if you want to visit her and see some of her work. Lisa does not compensate me in any way I just have loved her work for a long time and I love to let you know about wonderful talent like hers. Lisa is a real sweetheart and so easy to work with on a project. |
I like that I have more seating in the living room. Makes the room feel more like a living room. I like the cozy feel that a conversation set up adds to a living space. |
This is the cute little chippy table I got on our trip to Michigan. Perfect size and shape for my conversation area. |
I had showed most of you how Terry put up my chandelier and we framed it out with old vintage frames. |
This is the cute sign I got on the trip too. I love this saying and it fits perfectly in this small cottage home. |
A friend and I took a ride over the boarder into Wisconsin to Chippy Shabby's Market sale at her home. I found that awesome porch post at her sale. It is so full of character and charm. Thanks Jeanine I love it. |
I feel the old chippy birdhouse needs a little something added to it. I am currently working on that. |
I just love the old chippy detail to this porch post. Very unique. |
So there you have it. Just buying two more Ikea chairs and a new coffee table along with a few new decor pieces I have a whole new look to my living room. I am not so great at the picture taking and adjusting my pics with the amount of light that comes into this space. I really wish I could have you all see how pretty this room really is. So please come on over to see it!!! The pictures do not do it justice. Have a fabulous new week. This was fun to share my new conversation area with all of you. You can go to my Pinterest Board to see other ideas for conversation area's I pinned. Soon I will show you some of my summer flowers. It has been so lovely with our weather. It has been so nice to be out in the sunshine and planting. Terry is also working on our new deck. That man is awesome to be able to make a deck area in the backyard for us. I cannot wait to show that to you too. xoxo Kris |

Kris, I think this is IT! You have a perfect set up now in this room, cozy enough for two, and inviting enough for more! I like all the changes. And flowers too - wow, I don't even have my summer flowers planted yet (I'm still in vacation mode). Now maybe you can relax and enjoy your indoor and outdoor spaces a little, please? You're making me tired!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Kris! I really love that wallpaper, too. Have a wonderful week xoxo
ReplyDeleteA great idea with the two extra chairs and it is more inviting. I love all the white.
ReplyDeleteKris, The living Room, although small as you describe it...is FILLED with charm and restfulness! I knew your slipcover make-overs were on their way, as I have just cinched my 2nd slipcover project with Lisa at Fabric8 Slipcovers, and she mentioned your project (I reminded her that I first found her through your blog!).
ReplyDeleteI like the column in the corner...and looking at your picture with "fresh eyes"...looks like it's waiting for its own birdhouse or some chippy treasure atop! Now I can't wait for my slipcover to arrive!
Hi Mary,
DeleteI am so happy for you that you will be getting a new slip from Lisa. Lisa does such great work. Thank you always for your sweet visits. Yep I am looking into getting something for the top of that column and also something to spice up my birdhouse next to it on the wall. Happy Sunday.
Hugs,
Kris
Hi Kris, The sitting room is lovely, so much warmer with the extra two chairs, because you know warm conversations will be had in that cozy seating area. Plus all the other changes enhance the whole appeal.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, comfy, warm room you have created. I can just picture myself sitting in that room on a sunny day. Even when it's gloomy out it would be a bright spot to cuddle. I made a trip to Lancaster, Pa. yesterday with a friend and we found a greenhouse with incredible prices on both annuals and perennials. I'm trying to build my perennial garden too. However you are so right about annuals. I can't imagine not having Wave petunias ! As a small house owner I so appreciate all the inspiration you give me. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful. You did a wonderful job decorating. Love the chairs. I could see having a few friends over for a book club reading.
ReplyDeleteHow many words can I use to describe what you've done? Bright, welcoming, charming, cottagey, homey, beautiful, white and chippy, lovely. Your cottage is definitely you, Kris. I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the 4 chairs, such a great conversation area. This room is really stunning.
ReplyDeleteWe have 4 chairs in our living room and love that type of arrangement. Your living room looks like a wonderful place to sit and have great conversations.
ReplyDeleteYour living room is beautiful and looks very comfy, Kris. It's great that you now can sit there with some family members or friends and have a chat. You found some wonderful pieces during your trip to add to your décor. Enjoy your lovely living room!

Kris you have done a absolutely beautiful job. It has so much character and charm. Love love it.
ReplyDeletePerfectly YOU! That says it all.
ReplyDeleteHaving four chairs, especially in a smaller space, is definitely a great way to go! You’re certainly making the most of your space Kris!
ReplyDeletexxx
It looks like a magazine shoot, Kris! You guys did such a wonderful job and it looks perfect. Don't you just love small homes? Maybe some little twig or green wreathes around the bird house holes for texture?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Oh, I just followed all your Pinterest boards.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
It all looks so lovely! The idea using the frame around the chandelier is so wonderful!! Great touch!
ReplyDeleteYour living shouts "come on in, grab a coffee or glass of wine and let's have a good ole chat". I see another magazine feature *wink* *wink*
ReplyDeleteKris, That is a good way to have enough seating for company without a bulky sofa. I like the chippy folding chair at the entry . Blessings, enjoy this Nurses appreciation week. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! I love the wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteYour cottage is so welcoming! Everything is so light and airy and..... just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I love the new conversation area you made with the chairs and the slips are TDF!

Kris, your conversation area is so perfect. Everything together just makes it feel so calming and comfortable. It was the perfect idea for the space. Love the little picket fence on the front door and the wallpaper sets it all off so nicely. A very serene, pretty and wonderful room..I bet your garden is looking beautiful..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteWOW! You have definitely turned that home into a showplace using your style. It looks so welcoming and inviting. I do love the four chair conversation area.
ReplyDeleteKris, lovely job as always! What did you do with the square rug that was there before? I LOVED that rug and its texture.... I bet it'll show up somewhere else in your sweet cottage. The 4 chairs and little table in the middle just beg for a little party! The slipcovers are gorgeous... if I could afford to have some of my chairs recovered, I would definitely choose Lisa! Her work looks awesome. Am anxious to see your flowers and yard and garden. We are in the middle of a thunder storm right now and rain! But we need it and it's really warm out too... kind of fun! Hugs.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteOh Kris! It all looks so pretty. All the chippy pieces really add great character to the room and I love your conversation area with four chairs! Just out of curiosity, how large is your room? The farmhouse living room is 14 x 11 so space is tight. This would be a good idea for it!
ReplyDeleteGlad your weather is warm and you're getting to finally plant! Yay! Can't wait to see the new deck. That will be awesome!
Happy Sunday!
Cecilia
Playing catch up Kris. Your living room looks fantastic. You sure have an eye for design and details. The slipcovers looks so pretty. A conversation is great with 4 chairs. Love how you framed the chandy. I am so looking forward to seeing your gardens come alive. xo
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely. I love the chairs.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see your garden.
I was out in the dirt this weekend too. ;-) I loved it.
Love, Carla
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! Another amazing Kris creation!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve been a busy one! I like the additional chairs set in the circular fashion. All your tweaking looks fabulous. I haven’t planted anything yet- we always get late frosts so I have to wait a little longer.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I really LOVE it! Did I mention that I love it? 😁 The addition of the new chairs and that sweet little table make for such a pretty and inviting conversation area! Those chairs look so comfy! Wish we had an Ikea closer. The shipping to here costs more than the chairs! So glad you're out planting! I've started mine too. Really digging this wonderful weather! I bet Terry will do an incredible job on your deck! Can't wait to see your lovely flowers! Have a great week!💝
ReplyDeleteKRIS! Brilliant transformation! And you found the perfect pieces during your Michigan trip! That little round table it perfect because it's not too big but it's just the right size. I love the conversational area and it feels SO cottagy! I also like how you incorporate yellow into your white and slightly gray theme. I'm not one for yellow, but you make it look so buttercreamy good!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job my friend!
OMG you did an amazing job!!! I could never live like that bc I have four dogs lol!!

ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing, Kris! Every time I think that could not possibly top the way a room looks, you do! I would come on over in a jiffy if I could, just to sit in that room with you! xoxo Enjoy it and all your other new fun projects. Can't wait to see what happens outside!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteI knew it was going to be beautiful before I saw the photos but this is truly even more amazing than I imagined! Wow! You have such decorating talent! Every little touch is so perfect! I love the boots in the entry with the flowers--so sweet! The framed chandelier is gorgeous--I would never have thought of that. I have been looking for that exact sign--love that saying! and that chippy chair with the plant is adorable! I could sit in that room all day! Enjoy your new, white, cozy space! xxLinda
I love your new living it looks terrific. I like the 4 chair seating area. You really have the gift of decorating.
ReplyDeleteI am setting up going through the many emails, comments etc. I am so glad to be home even though I still don;t feel great, but I am breathing and getting rid of all that water. TAVR procedure put on hold until I can get well.
Thanks so much Kris for your prayers.

Very nice! I love how you made a seating area in a small room. Hmm, I just might have to come pay you a visit in person like you said! We have the same dilemma with a small living room. I've thought about doing just chairs but we do use the couch in here as a napping and reclining-while-reading spot.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, oh your house looks so bright and cheery. I just love what you did with the LR with the chairs and so nice you had someone fix the slip covers for you. I know you will enjoy your new LR makeover.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at our Cooking and Crafting with J & J.
Enjoy the week and have a Happy Mohter's Day.

Kris, I love the new look! The four chairs are absolutely perfect! I knew it wouldn't take you long to make your new home as fabulous as your other cottages. It's so pretty and summery. Don't work too hard in the yard...;). I can barely walk after a day out there. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe sitting area looks wonderful, warm and charming! I dont' think the room looks smaller I think it looks larger. The room has a very warm and welcoming feel to it. Please come in and and let's sit and chat. Sitting areas lend themselves to many actities one could do in them. I love the ruffles on the bottom of the chairs...Very nicely done Kris. Oh, by the way, lock your doors I'm coming for that chipp chair!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Great us of space.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy spot to enjoy time with friends and family, Kris! Just lovely, and exactly what I'd expect in your beautiful chippy cottage!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris.. Your changes are just lovely. The frame that you added to the ceiling is one of my favorite touches. Porch posts are so fun to work with..I look forward to seeing what you add to yours and also to the birdhouse! So very charming. I found some large posts in Ohio and have some plans to use them in my bedroom. I hope you''re having a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs
