Happy Friday Everyone.
Whoooooo Summer is flying by. I feel like I do not have enough hours in these glorious summer days.
I wanted to show you a sneak peek at one of the treasures I picked up on our Michigan trip.
For most of you that have followed my blog for some time know that I have a thing about old doors. It is the history and uniqueness that draws me to them. I love to repurpose them into my decor whenever I can.
On our trip I found a special door. I was not sure where in this tiny house I could use it but all I knew is I had to bring it home.
|
Here she is. I had Terry take off the closet door and we made this door work in it's place. I have always wanted a sliding door. Just never thought in this tiny house I had a place for one. |
|
Yep! this is working out nicely. With our Master Bedroom being tiny in this little cottage home this kind of door works so much better. Gives us a little more space with the door not swinging open into the room. |
|
This is what really drew me to this great door. The hardware is so vintage and gorgeous. Once again as soon as I want to take pictures it is a rainy day and it looks like rain all weekend so this is probably as good as it is going to get for the sneak peek of the new treasures for now. |
|
Another treasure that is going into the changes in this room. I found a pair of these lovely sconces. They were in a dark gold and with this room being soft and neutral I painted them white. I know shocker I painted them white!!! |
|
I can't wait to show you the bedroom changes. Soon I promise. Terry is wiring a new chandelier we found on the trip and will add to this room. Then I can reveal all the new treasures through out this room.
I did find a really awesome treasure at a new shop to me along the trip route. I cannot wait to show you this special piece. I have some change ups to do in my living room to make room for this new piece. So hopefully I will get that done soon too.
I just have endless activities going on this summer so getting things done to show has been a challenge. I promise if you hang in here with me I will have all the treasures in place to show you soon.
Hope your summer is going great. This season flies by for us in the Midwest. We have such long winters so these few months of summer we have we really need to cherish each day.
Have a great weekend. I will be back soon with the reveals. Hugs, Kris |
Your new door is fabulous, I love the hardware!!!! Your new cherub sconces are so pretty too. It's amazing what a little paint can do huh?

Kris, Oh yes white is much better on the scones !! They are adorable too. I could see you hanging something very cute on that new door's handle. :):) It's amazing how not opening doors into small rooms changes the feel. My summer is going too quickly and has been way too hot. Stay safe this weekend, many bad storms predicted. Blessings to you honey, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a great door, and I love a sliding barn door. Yours looks amazing! xo
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful door, the hardware is so unusual, very eye catching,, the white is all so dreamy, I love it,
ReplyDeleteLove the door, so pretty and that hardware is amazing
ReplyDeleteyou always know how to use those old doors. Such a nice touch, and definitely the convenience of having a sliding door. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Dani,
DeleteHow are you? Hope all is going great for you. Are you still blogging? In this tiny house I have very little space so I was glad was able to use it as a closet door. Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
xoxo
Kris
What a perfect place for that door!
ReplyDeleteit looks so charming Kris...
ReplyDeletei love old doors too...anything architectural actually. Im so glad that your enjoying your summer! so many things to enjoy and so little time but we'll try. Have a lovely weekend! BTW... how'd you install the cookie notification? I've tried to figure it out. Im not techy at all.
Tamara XO
Kris amazing finds. The hardware on the door is amazing. Love the sconces too. We are going to get rain too. Weather you are getting is coming here I'm sure
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend
Cindy
I like you love old doors...I love the barn door look and it is so much better sliding than openig out into our smaller rooms. I plan on putting one at the top of the stairs so when one of us stays up longer. I'm headed over for those scones...I am...its just not fair you found them! But I'm ever so happy for you :-[
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! Love all the little pretties you've shown as well. Can't wait to see the finished room - ps send your rain here. Desperately need it... xoxox
ReplyDeleteHow cool, Kris! Not only is it beautiful, its functional in your room! I can't wait to see what else you found. I'm always amazed how you make things work so well in your home. And applause for Terry for always lending a hand!
ReplyDeleteJane
WOW WOW WOW. Now, that door is not only a fun and frivolous find, but it's FUNCTIONAL! (Wow, I was alliteration happy there with the /f/ sounds) - how brilliant of an idea to have a sliding door, VINTAGE no doubt, to replace a swinging door that is obviously cumbersome in a small space. BRILLIANT, you guys! And your sconces....I do hope the angel I sent you will work with your heavenly motif here....can't wait to see the rest of the room my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kris - ♥ that hardware! Couldn't agree more on how it'll save you space when opening the door. The sconces fit right in with your style too - pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your trip to Michigan was a big hit! I’m amazed at how fast Terry got the door up for you- love it! Sliding doors to make a lot of sense especially in small rooms. The antique hardware on the door is pretty cool. I have a door in the garage that I got from the family farm. It has wonderfully aged hardware on it too. I still haven’t done anything special with it but it’s on my list. The sconces are sweet. I’m enjoying this summer so much. It seems like we’ve had a lot more hot days and my plants are growing nicely. I guess we’re halfway through now but there’s still plenty of it to enjoy! The rain finally made it here and I guess we’re expecting more throughout the day. Our grass really needs it so that’s ok with me. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour trip to Michigan sounds like it was super productive Kris. Love everything you choose! You remind me of a friend of mine who ALWAYS finds awesome stuff while the rest of us leave empty handed lol.
ReplyDeleteEndless summer activities sounds fabulous...we are involved in the same and it is glorious. I barely have time to get to the computer lately, but that's ok. Summer sun is only here for a brief time. Your door is fabulous. I love the hardware. It really is a treasure and I'm so glad you found a way to have the slider you wanted. Have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteA sliding door is perfect for any room, but especially a small room. You found the perfect door (the hardware...swoon!) and with Terry's expertise, it is beautiful! You must have a chippy white fairy who guides your shopping excursions! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that door! You're right, the hardware is gorgeous. We have small bedrooms and small closets, but all the doors open up into the room. Unfortunately, there is no available wall space in any of our rooms for a sliding door!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, as always! You have such a good eye.

eagerly waiting for the new reveals. You always have such wonderful ideas, that I will be checking back daily to see what you have accomplished. I love the new sconces, so sweet! Enjoy the long summer days! Summer has also been my favorite season even though we do not have long winters. I want this summer to stretch as long as possible. I so enjoyed last year spent every moment basking in our days with my dear husband.
ReplyDeleteKris, you know we will all hang in there with you! Your new old door is very similar to the doors in my cottage, even the back plate with the knob is the same. But, your's is especially wonderful on the track. In a small room, that is a workable and elegant fix. Love the cherub sconces and can't wait to see it all. Will wait patiently as why wouldn't you be spending more time outside in your beautiful chaise. Sounds like happy summer going on at your place..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThat's very handsome hardware! And it does make a big difference not to lose space for a door opening. And very sweet sconces! Now I'm curious about the new piece for the living room. I'm so glad you found treasures on your weekend excursion, Kris. That makes it fun!
ReplyDeleteI love how you framed up those gorgeous painted sconces - so pretty! The door is a fabulous find and couldn't be more perfect for a small space. Can't wait to see more, Kris :)
ReplyDeleteJealous of your summer. We are expected to hit 108 tomorrow..ugh. Love your sliding door (isn't it great for space saving?) and love the sconces. Don't know how they looked in dark gold but they are beautiful in white! Enjoy your warm days...I'll dream of the end of our heat.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cecilia
Kris it looks perfect in your room! I need to find a barn style door for our 4th bedroom. It is pretty small and I am trying to figure out how I can have it as my mom cave for sewing and crafts as well as a guest room but I really think it is just too small for a guest room. I would have to do two twin beds. Just not sure. Anyways, love how your room is coming along!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kris
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous door* I love that doors can be made to slide like that. I want to do that here in my home also. It looks great* love it
the scones, well they are just beautiful and look perfect in your sweet cottage bedroom. Can't wait to see your other treasure
have a great Sunday Kris

Those sconces are beautiful! I love a sliding door. So pretty and practical, since it gives you more space without having to leave room to open a door. And that hardware!!! Love!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely am jealous about the door. I LOVE the hardware. What a great find.
ReplyDeleteWow that door looks just great hanging in the bedroom. I love the white scones too with the angels. Sounds like you had a fun time finding these treasures.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit today to my blog
Enjoy the week
Julie
Summer does fly. We could use a little fall weather in Texas though. 110 degrees is my wall! I hope your weather is a bit more pleasant. I love, love the door and the sconce.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find Kris. The sliding door is gorgeous! The sconces are lovely and look great framed. What a creative eye you have. Hugs
