Hello 2019 New Adventures and Changes

Hello Sweet Blog Friends

Here we go into the New Year!!!

I will admit I am not great at the months of January and February here in the Midwest.

It is usually dark, cold and snowing with very little sunshine.

I try to keep positive and find things in these dreary months to keep me motivated.

As you know we are re doing some things in the living room and trying to find space for a dining area too.

I am going to recap what has happened so far.

This fabulous Armoire I found on Offer Up got a little make over.

It is now white and ready for placement in the new living room change up.

Wallpaper came down and fresh paint replaced it.

A New Small Space Sectional was ordered.

This is the style we will be getting.  By all calculations it should fit well in the new living room space!  Fingers crossed!

This mirror was moved off the wall to make room for the new Armoire.  It is being de constructed into two new pieces for the living room.

Since we are not taking down the wall between the living room and kitchen we decided this opening from the living room to the kitchen needed a little character added.

Here are some of the pieces from the mirror re loved to make the opening to the kitchen a little more interesting.

Here it is finished just waiting on a few more decorative touches and then it should make this passage way look pretty awesome.

This part of the door/mirror will be made into a new mirror for the living room space.  Sorry the mirror in the pic is upside down!!!

We are moving along with the new changes to the living room / dining room area.

This is a super fabulous round wood table with fun claw feet I found on Offer Up.
This is being transformed into a new dining table for us.
Stay tuned for this new change for the living room and dining room area.

I cannot wait to get my new sectional in the room and start to pull this room together to create a cozy living room space and dining area.

Hope you all are having a great start to the new year.

Terry and I took a day last Friday and took a drive to Michigan.  We visited some of my favorite shops especially the Found Cottage.

I will have some great pic's of that trip and a few of the new items I bought.

Have a great start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris

  2. Even though I am in California with no snow (gratefully), the dreary overcast days do get me "de-motivated" to do anything. You are such an inspiration in regards to decorating, but also looking for bright spots...or ways to make bright spots in you life. Can't wait to see your finished project. LOVE the enhanced entry way into the kitchen

  6. Happy New Year to you, Kris. What happened with the wallpaper? I know I have a hard time making a commitment to pattern but your paper was so pretty. I think you will love having a sofa again. I hope the size works well for you. I can't wait to see more. I adore catching up with what you are doing. I can't wait to hear about your trip to The Found Cottage. It's on my bucket list. The door surround is amazing by the way.

  8. Kris, I love the new round table with the fabulous feet! And how y'all have transformed the opening to the kitchen area! Using parts of the mirror to trim it gives it such an important look. And I love the new sectional for a small space! I hope it comes sooner rather than later for your sake. I know you're looking forward to having your new room function in a way that will give you better use of it. And wow, that armoire! I have a brown one that sure would benefit from painting. You two are geniuses!

  9. You guys accomplish so many projects! You've done more in your short time in your new house than we've done in 10 years, lol. We did buy new sheets and new wall art for our bedroom today at HomeGoods. Does that count? ;-)

  16. Love the dressed up passage between the kitchen and living room. You know what I like about you, Kris? You're not afraid to relove pieces to make them fit your vision! And Terry goes along with you! I think Bruce would have told me no on redoing the mirror. Lol. I'm so excited about your room makeover! I can't wait to see it all pulled together. (I am mourning the loss of the wallpaper a bit though) 😉

  18. I just stumbled across your blog and I must tell you that it is a godsend! I call my decorating style, "cottage got in the crayons" and it has worked for years. My husband and I are in the midst of serious downsizing and I have been having terrible angst over finding a new home and design. Your look is really inspiring, light and romantic. I will be a big fan through my transition. Thank you so much for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much Nanette. Good luck with downsizing. It is a little hard at first but it has more pros than cons.
Thanks for coming by and following my blog.

  23. The doorway is fabulous!! I love that accent, it's quite grand. I also like that claw foot...it's like you live in a fairy tale castle! You get to be the princess!! xo

  25. Fun to see your next steps! Love the round dining table. My parents had a similar one growing up.... in my 20's.. they gave it to a friend and she painted it a bright lime green! I think white will look good as I'm sure that's what it'll be! When I see your home and rooms, I want to get out a paintbrush and start painting everything white! We have such dark furniture but it's just not in me to paint it as seems like such a huge undertaking! I bet that trip to Michigan was fun! xoxo Marilyn

  26. I love how you made over that entrance with the old mirror frame pieces. You are so talented! I'm with you about January and February! My hubby bought me one of those special lights for Christmas lol - hopefully it helps! But even better was a gift of a long weekend on St. Simon's Island at the end of this month. Now THAT will elevate my winter mood haha!

  39. Hi Kris

Long time no speak! I do pop in occasionally to check what you've been up to, but don't always leave a comment, just go away inspired by your beautiful ideas. Anyway, I wondered if I might ask a question please? It looks like your new dining table may be one that extends, if so, having painted it, is it likely to be damaged when you open it out? The reason I ask, is that I have a lovely round table that I'd like to paint, but having been holding off because I'm worried that when I open it up and close it again, it could end up looking a mess. Would be grateful for your thoughts.
