Happy Friday Everyone.
Hope the first new week of the year started out fabulous for all of you.
Struggling here with the cold and hardly any sunshine.
I just love when that sun comes out. Makes me feel more motivated in these cold gloomy months of winter.
I told you I would share some of the pics of my escape to Michigan to the Found Cottage last week.
It was a sun filled day and the weather hit 60 so what a fabulous day for a road trip here in the midwest.

Look at this fabulous long wood counter. Would that not make the perfect island in a large kitchen. Ohhhhh, if I had the space that baby would have come home with me. |
|
The shop had some fabulous table setting vignettes. That candelabra is so chippy and fun. |
|
I know if you follow Liz Marie's blog you know her beautiful old farmhouse is filled with lots of comfy slipcovered furniture. She has lots of pieces for sale in the shop like this comfy couch. |
|
Look at this wood drawer piece. That would also be great in a kitchen or a craft space for storage. |
|
For you demi john fans. The shop has lots of those. |
|
This blessed sign with the basket attached came home with me. It was a Christmas display so I got it for 50% off. SCORE!!! |
|
I brought it home and added some spring flowers to the basket. That will go up on the walls when I figure out all my pieces for hanging. |
|
Terry painted this arch way a solid white with just a little chippy showing. Looking so good to bling up the opening between the living room and kitchen. I need to find just the right decor piece to hang on the arch. |
|
Remember this claw table I got for a bargain on Offer Up. This is going to be the new dining area piece. Small world the guy that sold this piece was a Chicago Firefighter that lived a few blocks from Terry's Fire Station!!! |
|
Here she is!!!!! New table painted white to match my decor. Love the claw feet and toes on this table! |
|
This chandelier framed out on the ceiling in the middle of the living room will be moved over to hang over the new table. |
|
My little design assistant Buddy was a big helper today! He was right in the middle of everything with moving and cleaning floors etc.
Such a big helper lol!!!!
The mirror will be put back in the old door and get hung back up too.
So that was the highlights of my trip to Michigan and also an update on the living room/ dining area changes.
Now I just have to figure out where things will go back up on the walls.
Trying to stay patient while awaiting the new sectional to arrive to complete this room.
It is coming together slowly but I am liking how things are turning out. I think I will finally have my living room/dining room area that will work in this tiny room.
Have a fabulous weekend.
I found another fabulous item on Offer Up for my office. It needs some love and I will show you that transformation hopefully after the weekend.

Looking good, Kris!!!! I just adore that doorway.
ReplyDeleteI love the shop too! I have always wanted one of those bee skeeps (???). I love them.
Love that you painted the table white! Gave me the inspiration I needed to tackle painting the rest of my table white...the wood top is just not working.
ReplyDeleteThe dining table and area is perfect. I love the table and with leaves it can fit quite a few. That's what I like about my round table, small but big when I need it.
ReplyDeleteKris, I love your table and chairs! That table is gorgeous! You did such a fabulous job changing the look. The Found Cottage looks like a wonderful place to shop and I love your new treasure! Can't wait to see it in place! Everything looks so great and is coming together nicely! Love and hugs and happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll the white gorgeousness! I love your arch and the table too.
ReplyDeleteThe Found Cottage does look like a really special shop. Visiting stores like that is so much fun.
I can't wait to see it all come together, Kris!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you transformed the table into such a beautiful piece for your dining area! Oh how I loved the kitchen island piece that you saw at "Found Cottage", what a gorgeous beauty! So much I saw in the pictures you shared of the cottage that I loved! We are not having much sunshine here right now either, but the little we do get, I love to get outside and soak it up. Blessings and hugs :)
ReplyDeleteYou’ve sure done well on Offer Up! Great pieces and love how the archway turned out. I really love the beautiful pieces you’ve created!
ReplyDeleteFinally my computer is working...for now anyways...it usually crashes soon after I get it up and going again!!! I have been missing blogging lately, and I see why when I visit your blog, Kris! Everything you and Terry do is so inspiring!! I love the archway, and your new design in the living/dining room. You ROCK girl!!!

Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Buddy with us too. :-)
I like the table, the claw feet are a score.
Carla
I've loved your wonderful whites! That table is gorgeous, round tables are the best. I'd like to roam around in that shop, looks like a place that might be a little dangerous! I might need a truck to haul everything I'd like to buy home.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Kris!
The table is looking fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with that table! You just don't see great tables like that often. I think I'm getting a hint now of what you're aiming for in the room. I'm a slow learner but I am beginning to get why this will work better for you than the other gorgeous arrangement. I know this one will be too and my goodness how that new entrance to the kitchen is so very you! I can't imagine now you not having it there. Will you eventually design something special on the other side of the opening?
ReplyDeleteI so want to cuddle Buddy!
Dewena
You make white so special Kris - it has been such a pleasure over the years to see how you make 'home' so very welcoming. I look forward to each post you write.
ReplyDeleteI love it all, Kris...the "Blessed" piece is so darling - and the table came out great. I love how the dining table and chairs are pushed in the corner - a great way to use the space! What a fabulous shop to visit too!
ReplyDelete...also...you always mention how tiny your lovely home is - how many sq. ft is it? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteOkay loving the table update and the claw feet are substantial. The doorway woodwork is still fabulous and a smidge of chippy is a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteYou always score on your trips.
The cloudiness is hanging on here too Just will not go away. I need a good dose of sunny.
Is Buddy as nosey as Reeses? Reeses has to be the biggest investigator I have ever known. He's 8 going on two.
Enjoy your weekend
Cindy
love your new dining area, Kris. the round table and those adorable slipcovered chairs are perfect together!
ReplyDeleteThat table is so beautiful - love the legs and feet on it! Glad you had a chance to have a little escape again. Brian and I are way overdue.
ReplyDeletelove the new table painted white. could i ask what you have done with the pull out table that looks like a side broad?
ReplyDeleteThe expand o matic table is what I think you might be referring too. That is down in our lower level family room area. I use that when I have a lot of guests for entertaining.
DeleteHappy Weekend.
Kris
The round table does seem to work better in the corner space. Love the "toes" on the table. It sounds like instead of the four chairs you're now going to have a sectional ? That sound like a good fit too. You do love that shop and always bring home some great finds! Wishing you and Terry a blessed New Year's!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many amazing things in your post. The archway is amazing and the table looks beautiful - don't you love the "small world" coincidences!
ReplyDeleteIn 2000 my school was under reconstruction and the librarian offered me the card catalogue cabinet that had been in the school since the 50's. I was not blogging yet, didn't even know what one was, and although I would have loved it for crafts, I had nowhere to put it. Seeing that long set of drawers has me kicking myself!!!
What a wonderful shop, Kris! I love the gray cubby and the drawer piece. The basket is pretty and a great addition for your home. I'm sure Buddy is a great assistant and very helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteGOOD MORNING!!!!! How I've missed you. I am so impressed with that doorway, wow, what a great way to salvage a salvage piece, Kris an Terry! And that counter at the Found Cottage, would that NOT MAKE A GORGEOUS kitchen island! Well my friend, hang in there; we have cold too but NO SNOW! If it's going to be cold, could we at least have it in the form of a winter wonderland?????
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you as you await your sectional. I can't wait to see it all!
Love the look of the round table with chairs, Kris. The Found Cottage looks like a really neat store. Good find on the sign at 50% off! Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a nice visit to Michigan. I like the basket you found and the archway is looking fabulous. Your newly painted table with chairs looks really great! I’m sure Buddy thinks there must be something I can do - or rather sit on! LOL.... my cat Teddy gets quite enthused when a project happens here and tends to want to be right in our faces all the time! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome shop!!! Your home looks so pretty - love all your little touches. Have a happy weekend Kris! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSuch a great shop! I thought the same thing about an "island" for a lucky person as soon as I saw it. Very sweet shop! I really like the changes you made to the doorway with the door trim that was on the mirror! That worked out nicely! xo Su
ReplyDeleteI want to go shopping with YOU!!! I love the sign you bought. It will look so cute in your home! You're making great progress on your changes in the cottage. Buddy looks like the sweetest assistant! :D
ReplyDeleteLOL any time. I would love to take you to these shops.
DeleteHugs.
Kris
That is one gorgeous table! Love the detail.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Kris, I love all the eye candy photos from the shop! I want everything! Your beautiful home is coming along beautifully!! Thanks so much for sharing all your wonderful ideas!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jody
Kris- GREAT find and job on that table. For some reason I thought it was coffee table sized. LOVE it! I can't wait until you get that sectional in and settled into place. I think that is a great idea to move the chandy over the dining table. It will really give it a defined space. How funny that the guy was also a firefighter. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt all looks beautiful Kris... And what a fun outing. Those places are filled with inspiration and pieces to start saving or wishing for! Space is certainly a key sometimes. I love your white table and what a small world, indeed. And your little find is so cute and all ready for spring... Any tips on painting a table? I have a 15 foot extendable, oak table that needs painted... It has nine leaves... It's very daunting! It was custom made for us in Charm, Ohio by the Amish when all of our kids were at home. I am at a loss at where to start with it. And how do I pick a color? Any tips that you have would be very much appreciated. Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Tamara x
I love the crisp white of the table! Can you do another post on what you use for paint and how you do it? sand first? primer? how many coats? You may have it here somewhere on your blog but I wouldn't know where to begin to look! I have so many things I want to paint white! Love that Found Cottage - I want that long thing of all the drawers! Would be perfect for a craft room, but I have NO room.... darn. I love those old library type drawers. The sign you got with the basket is also adorable... I'm sure the frame will become white right????? Glad the day you went on your little trip was a nice one. We had a few warm days awhile ago, but lately has been below freezing every day and gray and overcast and/or foggy. At least it's not 10 below.. so I'm not complaining! Have a good rest of the weekend... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You have great luck on offer up. I’ve never looked. Perhaps I should! Then again perhaps I shouldn’t!! 😉😉 Happy Weekend!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I'm l looking forward to visiting those shops in spring. Your living redo is really shaping up - I think you will love having a cute, little eating area. I've been a terrible blogger, but I am working on a little post for tomorrow or Monday. Enjoy your weekend! Jane
ReplyDeleteKris, her shop is as lovely as her home. Wish I lived closer. Absolutely love that wall basket. When I first saw it I said, I bet Kris came home with that, and I was right. Looks so much like you, you could be twins. I'm loving it all and am as anxious as you are to see your sofa. Going to be so pretty..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to visit Liz Marie's shop. I am an avid follower of her page. Love the chairs you are pairing with your updated table. Anxiously waiting for the final reveal to your room. You are my inspiration to start something in the gloom of winter.
ReplyDeleteThis is looking so pretty, Kris! What a fun road trip!
ReplyDeleteI love the white table! And your helper is too cute! What a fabulous trip you had, and perfect weather too. Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteI love the table. I can't wait to see the rest.
ReplyDeleteHi, Kris, I am sorry to hear how you are suffering so with Fibro. I have had to beat some autoimmune diseases in the past too, and honestly, though it was a VERY hard stretch for me, once I went natural (homeopathic or ND [Naturopathic Doctor]), they were the ones that helped me get rid of the problems. Western medicine can only do so much (bandaid the symptoms) but homeopathic and ND gets to the ROOT of the problem. It truly does. I presently have an M.D. who went natural (became an ND) and I can't tell you how he has changed my health and my life!
ReplyDeleteKris, I have had great success with autoimmune diseases working with homeopathic doctors and ND's (Naturopathic Doctor). They do not just bandaid the symptoms, they find the ROOT of the problem. My present doctor is an M.D. who went natural (became an ND) and he has changed my health HUGELY. Feel free to email me if you want to talk more. I am in the Western Medicine world, so imagine how hard it was for me to stretch to the natural world, but it saved my life. ReplyDeleteGreat sign and score from your trip! Everything is coming together so nicely! Your table looks fantastic painted white and it really brings out the claw foot details. Looking forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteThe doorway is absolutely stunning, and the table looks beautiful! I can picture it with the chandelier above and it’s going to be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI read your most recent post and I’m so, so sorry Kris. Illness is such a tough thing to deal with, but you have a great attitude and that’s so important. Love to you and I hope some of the natural remedies are effective.
