Hello Everyone.
Hoping all of you are off to a great start to the new week.
|
Ugh!!! We got almost 12 inches of snow on Saturday. Had to shovel out a path for Buddy. Thankful he loves the snow!!!! Does not like rain but will do snow when it happens!
It is sooooo cold here. At least the sun is out that helps with these cold temps. My face actually hurt to go out to the garage today with how cold it is.
I seriously need to live where I can wear flip flops year around and retire my Ugg boots!!! |
Ok enough with me whining about Illinois winter weather.
On to showing you my new wall color for the living room and dining room.
|
We painted the walls with Behr paint called Gallery White. It is white with a touch of gray shadow in the color. As you can see with the trim meeting up with the wall it is ever so slightly different than a true white like on the trim piece.
I wanted to say good bye to the darker gray walls. I am headed in the direction of lighter and more neutral for when my Sectional comes in that has more cream and beige in the color. |
|
As you can see the walls do have the slight hint of light gray. This is my old farm house window and shutters. I had them hanging on the opposite wall in my living room. |
|
I had this huge old heavy window leaning on the actual side window in my living room.
Hmmm, I thought hey that might make for a great focal point.
Maybe Mr. Terry and his mighty tools could make that window fit over the window already there. I rarely open that window up so putting the old vintage farmhouse window over this window might just work and make a great focal point in this room.
Stay tuned! Hoping this might work. |
|
I think the new lighter wall color will work nicely. I will begin to add warmth with the furniture and drapes and possibly a rug. |
|
Buddy was taking advantage of this warm spot. The sun streaming in gave him a warm and cozy spot for his morning nap. |
|
Buddy's face tells it all!!! Buddy like most pets do not like when things are not where they are suppose to be.
Believe me Buddy we are right there with you! I cannot stand having my living room torn up.
In the snow storm on Saturday the room was painted. It was a perfect day to be inside and paint!!!
If any of you have seen any really cute cottage drapes that might have light gray and creams please shoot me an email or comment here.
I have my buffalo check gray and white I can put back up, but I am thinking I would like to find something to tie in the cream with the light gray and whites.
Thinking maybe a pretty french country or cottage floral drape.
Have a great new week ahead.
If you are near the snow and cold stay warm like me. Try to keep warm and cozy!
If you are near the water, beach, warm sunshine and fabulous weather keep that to yourself lol! I would be too jealous to hear about it!!!
Hugs, Kris |
Love the new color. It is sunny here but only 29 degrees. Woke up this morning to 12 degrees.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris - you got about the same amount of snow as we did, and same as you it is BRUTALLY cold here today, just awful to go out for even a minute...which is I guess why Molly has decided she's not stepping foot out there for even a minute! Spoiled little rascal!! Vermont Country Store is now selling Country Curtains - you might find what you want there! I love their drapes.

The new color looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteDown here in northeast Texas we got an inch and we thought that was something! You guys really got covered in snow.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet you guys loved it too since you rarely get this white stuff. Here not so much. We get plenty!!!
DeleteHappy New Week.
Hugs,
Kris
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
;-) We did not get any of the snow Saturday. Not a flake. Can you believe Northern Wisconsin and no snow. LOL
Hi Buddy,
I am with you.. lets soak in the sun.
Love, Carla
We are in the deep freeze with lots of snow, too...definitely perfect for staying in and doing projects! Buddy is SO sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get any snow. I think you got it all. In North Texas you can't wear flip flops all year. On warm days I'll wear them in the house but if I wear them out, it means a pedicure. I like the walls. I love having white walls because it means I can just move stuff around. I hope you find the drapes. I bet Terry can do something with the window.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good with the painting! Would you like to come and paint Tim's old room? lol Brian and I are both terrible with painting. Buddy is SO cute! Can you believe we have another storm coming tomorrow?! I am with you on trading in my boots for sandals!
ReplyDeletePoor Buddy, my kitty girls and I feel the same way. totally disorientated. I'm so excited to see how you put your room together. I'm really lovin' that dining table!
ReplyDeleteWonderful new color! No worries, it’s cold here too! Just think it’ll be flip flop weather soon though!
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
Loving the new color. Didn't get much snow but deep freeze and windy. Reeses and Peanut can't stand high winds. Stay warm with Buddy.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I can't wait to see your room reveal. I know it will be so pretty when you're done. I love your paint color!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! Brrrr....13 below when I got up this morning and another snowstorm tomorrow night! Love all your pretty changes - excited to see the sectional. Believe it or not, I am putting my toe in the neutral water. New furniture coming on Saturday and I'm going for creams & browns. I am excited for the change, but time will tell if I can keep the color explosion out for any length of time, lol. Jane
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, I know what you mean about the cold and snow. My dog loves the snow too but it's way to cold to go out for any length of time. Looking forward to warmer temps.....love the wall color, and that window is gorgeous! I bet your husband can add that to a window...I had that very same thought! Your home gets lovelier by the day. Your ability to envision and then make it all come together is truly amazing! Hope you are feeling well....hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteThe new color looks terrific! I want to lighten everything up, too. I can't get over how cute Buddy is -that face! Yes, it's been super-cold here, too! It didn't get above 9 degrees today and it was so windy, a tree fell on the house next door. Fortunately, we didn't get the snow they predicted. Hope you stay warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteHELLO KRIS! I like it. As much as gray was a huge trend in Blogland and though I do enjoy it, I think that going white with just a hint of gray will add that much needed warmth you are looking for! And I'm really interested to see how Mr. Handy Terry will fit that antique window over the existing window! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteLooks great!! we got 6 inches of snow but then freezing rain and with temps below 0 overnight, everything has frozen solid!!Here;s the crazy thing, it is supposed to be in the 40's by Thursday!! But I am still a Winter person rather than a Summer person....
Hugs,
Deb
Love the new colour, it's very elegant. Sunny here,in Milan, but 3 degrees
ReplyDeleteHugs
Kris, I love the new paint color! It looks great and I can't wait to see the room all pulled together...I know you are looking forward to it as well! :-) I know you dislike all of that snow, so please send some here to Texas! I would love a nice snowstorm this year! I'm probably the only one...LOL Hope you had a great weekend and are feeling better! Love to you sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteNice color! People who don't care for white rooms don't get how energizing and mood lifting they are. Have fun choosing your drapes!
ReplyDeleteI'm behind in blogs and was so happy to see you've already posted about the new paint! You are so good with paint colors! It looks lovely and your little helper is adorable, as always. That's a lot of snow! Stay warm and just think...every day you're closer to more and more sunshine and flowers. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI just love your photos of Buddy! He's such a handsome fella. Can't wait to see your sectional!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
The color looks nice. I love the farmhouse window and shutters! So cool! My dad had spent some of his childhood in Illinois and hated the snow. He said he would never return to the midwest after he moved to California and he never did. I am glad we rarely get snow here where I live in Oregon!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to trade your boots in for flip flops! The snow is very pretty but brrrrr! The new paint color is very pretty! It has just enough get to showcase your white pieces. Love that huge window! Looking forward to seeing how it looks in its new location! I hope you're sectional comes in soon! I know you must be so eager for its arrival! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, you would laugh if I showed you our snow that snuck in during the night. You might call it green snow as so much of the lawn is still showing. You certainly got your share and probably our's too! I think you will be happy with your new paint color. I can see your new sectional against it will be pretty. Hope you can fix the window like you want. That will be gorgeous. If anyone can, you guys can!. I hope Buddy finds lots of sunny spots..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteOh bur.r.r.r..r I hope we don't get that white stuff! We've only had two little snows here of about 1 inch each. Makes me a very happy camper! Your light wall is so pretty and bright.... I think curtains with some light gray and a little beige in them would be just right for the room. Am anxious to see your couch that is light beige. I too love that table! What kind of paint do you use and how many coats? One of these days I NEED to attempt to paint one of my pieces of furniture! Think I'll start with the old 70's headboard that my hubby got for our bedroom. It takes up way too much room in there and is brown (ugh) but if it was white, it could really make a whole difference.. maybe some lace along the top? I just can't seem to get myself to grab hold of a paint brush! I bet Mr. Handy can do wonders with that window frame on the existing window. Always so much fun to see what you are doing there. Let us know when you've tried that oil and how it's working. Hugs... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteYou are way too funny Kris! Like you, I don’t want to hear from anyone enjoying warm weather, and we’re in NC! lol. Not too many people are feeling warm these days, in this hemisphere at least.
ReplyDeleteI can’t wait to see it all put together. I wish I could recommend some curtains but I haven’t come across any. Try Vermont country store if you haven’t already.
Buddy is a riot! That face says it all :).
xxx
Love the new color, Kris! Everything will look wonderful in the room. Even your sweet dog matches your décor!! Diana is just so thoughtful, isn't she?! We live on the water, but it's hard right now....ugh. Have a super Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteDebbie

Oh no, this weather is already killing me, too. It was 6 degrees here yesterday with crazy wind chills. Today was 28 and it felt like a heat wave. Thankfully we didn't get any snow. Yet...your decor looks fabulous as usual. I can't wait to see what you end up doing in the room. I just know it will be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely look. It's all coming together. The snow makes me feel cold. I love looking at, but I don't want to live in it. Stay warm and cozy. xo
ReplyDeleteI loved the wall paper, but I love this too! It seems more you! xo Su
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new color! We were actually grey and cold Saturday too. It was so windy. Snow at least would have made the cold worthwhile - says the Texas girl who doesn't get much snow, lol. Looks like things are coming together! It's going to be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris...
ReplyDeleteYour Buddy is adorable and he looks so soft. I want to reach out and pet him! I must've been out of touch when you added this sweet one to your family. Wow! That is a lot of snow! Rain snow etc... And Yes. What a great day to paint! My daughter has been getting so much weather in SE Ohio.
Your window is gorgeous. You always have unique and creative ideas. That'll be very neat if it works out. I'm not very good with paint but your new color looks very nice to me! I hope you're having a good week.
Hugs,
Tamara
It is looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm sorry you're dealing with so much snow and cold. Your living room is going to look great, though, and it's nice to have the distraction of redoing it while the weather is so icky. Love your idea with the window, and I hope it works out! Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteBuddy is so very photogenic! And that picture of him lying by the table paws in the patch of sunlight is stunning. I know from my BreeBree that they sure don't like anything that involves moving furniture around, or with her it's vacuuming or even dust mopping with a swifter. And of course the best thing they like, besides dinner, is snuggling.
ReplyDeleteI can really see how the new color is so much brighter! It will be such a beautiful room, Kris! And I love love love your snow!
Hi Kris, it’s so cold here but no snow. I know that you are busy decorating and I cannot wait to see how pretty it will look finished. It was so thoughtful of DIANA to send you the flowers. I do hope you are feeling better. Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend.
ReplyDeleteJulie
I like the new wall color. I think you are on the right track to pulling the new look together. Buddy is the inspector and is looking for “his spot to lay”! We didn’t get much snow here last weekend but it was bitter cold. You know it’s really cold when your pants seem to freeze! We just got a bunch of snow over the past two days and have more coming and another deep dip in the temps.
ReplyDeleteI seem to like lighter colors too. I don't know how you keep everything so clean with Buddy. Coco is brown. Maybe I need a white dog! Cold here in Valparaiso, IN but not as much snow. 21 degrees and feels like 10 degrees when I checked my phone at 6:45p.m. Nancy
