Happy New Week.
I wanted to share with you a new treasure I came upon this weekend.
|
I miss having a fireplace especially in the winter months. This tiny cottage house did not come with one :(. I found this sweet fireplace surround while out treasure hunting this weekend. |
|
The black mantel will be replaced with a wood mantel or possibly painted white and chippy.
The cream stone will be painted cottage white.
Not sure yet if I will leave the opening and hearth black or if I will do something different with that just yet. I need to put on my thinking cap on this one. |
|
Here is an inspiration picture found on Pinterest of adding sweet candles and an old framed mirror to the opening of the fireplace. |
|
In this inspiration picture they added the candles and then put an old window in the front. |
|
I like this idea of adding birch logs and greens with some white lights.
Lots of good ideas running around in my head. |
|
I am excited it fits on this wall in my living room. It will add a nice cottage fireplace to my decor.
Stay tuned as I re love this piece into pretty.
I found some great candelabra's and an old mantel clock that hopefully will look very pretty on the new mantel.
Have a good week.

Kris, I love this fireplace! What a great find! I would be torn as to what to do also...I love the candles with the window and I love the birch logs with lights...so many options! I know it will be beautiful once you put your magic touch on it...oh my gosh, it is so pretty! I love fireplaces, whether they or real or not, they always make a room feel cozy!! Happy Monday! Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the fireplace! Can't wait to see it all fixed up!
ReplyDeleteFantastic find. Some really pretty inspiration pictures too. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with it will be fun.

Kris, I am laughing...girl your tools have not even cooled off from your last jobs. I will say that fireplace looks to be made for that wall. :) I know you will love it into a beautiful piece. Can't wait to see the end results. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, I love your ideas for the new fireplace! You have given me lots of inspiration for what to do with our wood burning fireplace in the spring. I was just thinking about how I enjoy the warmth and life the fireplace seems to bring to our family room in winter, and how it's just a blank black hole for the rest of the year. I can't wait to see what you do with yours.
ReplyDeleteWow, wish I could find one. I've been tempted to buy one of those electric fireplaces. I've been looking online for some time now at those.

Wow Kris what a find!!! Such a treasure that I know you will transform beautifully for your home. I like them all, but I love the unusal use of the window frame. It's really unique and makes a great fireplace screen with the candles in back of it. Great conversation piece too! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo excited to see what you do with this. You have a lot of great ideas.
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
I am really excited about this Kris. I love the ideas you shared. I have been thinking of adding a fireplace in our bedroom.
ReplyDeleteWe are digging out. Not so much snow, but the wind was so powerful, we are drifted in! Schools closed today so we all can dig out.

Hi Kris, oh you find such wonderful things on your travels. I think it will look really nice once you have it all fixed up! I can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week.
Julie
Can't wait to see what you come up with. Having a mantle to decorate is a good thing in any cottage. Have a blessed new week
ReplyDeleteLOL I found a vintage Christmas card box. I think that was easier to haul home than your mantle but not nearly as cool.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your choice and how you do it. I personally like combining the white birch with lights and a window in front!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kris. Another fantabulous find. I love it so much and the idea of it. Either way you choose to style it, will be just what your sweet cottage ordered. That room is going to be the best I've ever seen..Happy Week my friend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteWow what a great find, Kris!!! I can't wait to see how you pretty this up to fit right in with your sweet cottage!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Kris! Can't wait to see what you decide to do with this. I love the examples that you have found for your inspiration. I just knew that you would come home with lots of goodies. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteThis will be fun to see how you complete it! Great inspiration ideas!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see where you put this!
ReplyDeleteOoh...pretty! I love the lights, greenery and birch logs. I might have to use that idea in my own fireplace this summer. I love a roaring fire, but off-season, I hate that big dark hole! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat score on the fireplace and loved your inspiration pics. Love you couch...but I hope you won’t mind me saying your room looked bigger with the couch against the windows. I didn't find they distracted from how beautiful the windows are. But each of us must find the best ”look” for our homes. I applaud your effort to find the best fit for your living area! You are so lucky I have two fireplaces or I would have snatched that up! I'm looking for one for the cellar since I'm converting that into our ”family” room! Boy is that going to take a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Your inspiration photos are fabulous and I'm sure you will make this one just as wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOK, you are going to have a BLAST transforming this, Kris!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! After the winter we are having, your new fireplace will be a most welcome addition! I'm looking forward for you and Terry to work your magic with this piece. Jane
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful already so I know it will be even more so when you finish. We don't have a fireplace either here, the first time we haven't in 50 years. I miss them so much and we're considering putting a free standing pretty wood or gas log stove in before next winter.
ReplyDeleteAnother project that will have a beautiful outcome!!
ReplyDeleteWow! beautiful fireplace!
ReplyDeletewow, you huntress...lol you find the best stuff. I have no doubt it will be made beautiful to accommodate your style. xo
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!! Can't wait to see the amazing transformation which I know you will be treating us to soon!!
Hugs,
Debbie
WOW, Kris- What a great finishing piece for that room!!!! Is that on the wall where you had the Christmas tree at the girlfriend's party? It looks like it fits perfectly..and really adds a lot of oomph to that spot. I can't believe the deals that you run across! I bet that devil was heavy to unload and get into the house!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day as you prepare for your upcoming surgery. Love to you-xo Diana
What a fun find. I know you will have it looking darling as soon as you are up on your feet again. I've looked for an antique mantel for my room for years but at this stage, if I bring something in - something has to go. I hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteOh Kris,
ReplyDeletewhat a great find! I am so excited to see it all done and dressed up!
Hugs,
Karen B.
You are the true energizer bunny Kris, and you ALWAYS find the best treasures!
ReplyDeleteI love all the options, but my personal preference is for the birch logs. It seems to be not only pretty but far more practical than turning on or lighting a bunch of candles.
Good luck with your surgery ❤️
