Helloooo sweet blogger friends.
Happy Sunday.
I had my surgery on Friday for an abnormal bone growth to be removed from the top of my foot. Thank you for the good wishes and prayers.
|
I will be sporting this for a couple of weeks. |
|
This is the fireplace surround I got a few weekends ago. |
|
Progress is being made. Here is where we are at with this piece. New Oak mantel in place and surround painted white. |
|
We put some shiplap on the wall behind the fireplace surround. |
|
Now onto getting the right decor for above the mantel and adding a nice fireplace insert or possibly candles to the opening.
Stay tuned for this wall and fireplace surround to be decorated and finished up.
Things will be slow this week while I recover from my foot surgery.
Have a great Sunday and wonderful start to the new week. Hugs, Kris |
Love the fireplace, but wow your foot looks like it hurts. Hope for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI really like how the surround turned out ~ cute toenails!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking beautiful and the ship lap adds nice texture. Take your time with your foot. I know it's hard to sit but foot surgery can be tricky to heal from so don't overdo.
ReplyDeleteHugs

I'm glad you're okay after the foot surgery. Did Terry put an oak piece on top of the mantel or did he stain what was already there?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hope you heal quickly! Can't wait to see the finished look. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon, Kris! Sit and enjoy your pretty new fireplace!
ReplyDeleteCute. I'm glad to hear your progress. I hope you feel better soon and the pain isn't to bad. I can't wait for the reveal.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the foot surgery. I hope you will have a speedy recovery...and that you are a good patient. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, it appears that your surround was meant for that particular wall. The oak mantle is nice and the addition of the shiplap contributes nicely to make it appear as a built in unit.
It would be nice if you can use an actual fire insert for the ambiance. But candles are also a nice alternative.
What fun it will be for you to add seasonal décor to the mantle!
Have a great rest(ful) Sunday!
The fireplace is looking good....I love the ship lap!!! I can't wait to see how you decorate it now :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are up and about again very SOON!

Even a blog post from you already - Superwoman! At least your toes look pretty, right? :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your new fireplace surround...you guys have done more in your house in the short time you've lived there than we've done here in 28 years, lol.
Honey, I don't know how you are writing and posting anything! I do hope you are taking it easy and doing what you are supposed to be doing, which is resting that foot!! Terry is there to wait on you and help you...let him! :-) I love the progress on the fireplace. It looks so pretty already and I can't wait to see how it turns out...but I can wait, so that you can take care of yourself! So glad you are doing well...continuing prayers for you! Love you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I'm so happy you are now in the healing phase and I'm hoping you have a super speedy recovery. If only Terry's magical handyman skills had healing powers, lol. Your fireplace is looking fabulous and will give you so many pretty decor opportunities. Take care of yourself! Jane
ReplyDeleteGood to know you are doing well. I hope each day is better and you can get back to doing things more easily. Wow on the fireplace! You two get an A+++++ for your speed and efforts! The shiplap background was a great idea too! I have a feeling that when you are slowed down it’s to the point of what most of us call normal! Big hugs, Liz
ReplyDeleteWHAT? What the heck? I wrote a comment early today and must not have sent it off. Anyway....Love the fireplace. I think it might have been you that showed a picture of a fireplace like that with a mirror in there to reflect candles when they were burning. Really, really cool that you have this and love the wall behind it, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Healing- Love you- xo Diana
I am glad this is behind you and hope that you will heal soon. Nancy
ReplyDeleteDearest friend, it's LOOKING GOOD! How fun for you when the good weather arrives, when your foot is completely healed, and when you can get going on completing this project!!!!!!!! There is so much to look forward to. Hope can be a fun place to be, so rest, ponder, and get ready to GO when your foot heals. LOVE YA!
ReplyDeleteYour fireplace is looking great! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy your surgery seems to have gone well. Seems like Mother Nature took her cue to keep you at home by throwing more bad weather you way, so you better behave!
ReplyDeleteThe fireplace, mantel & wall behind look great. Gosh, you two never cease to amaze me.
Dear Kris ~ so glad to read you have made it through surgery and are recovering. Don't try to rush things by doing too much. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour whole fireplace set up looks great, but what do we expect. All of your project are that way.
Have a lovely week ~ FlowerLady
Well that looks just fabulous. I can't wait to see it finished. And I love how your toes are painted and pretty despite the surgery! You go girl!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLook at those pretty toes!
ReplyDeleteTake care my friend.
Sam had tornado excitement yesterday.. thankful no touch downs.. prayers for Alabama, goodness my heart breaks for them. xx oo
Looking good! Didn't know you had surgery and hope it will heal quickly (if you are a good girl and stay off of it). Have you seen the little canisters you can put in a fireplace to have a "real" fire? Don't think they need any venting or anything. Pretty neat. It will look great when you're done.. just don't overdo. Love the shiplap on top.. really adds to it. Hugs.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteYour toes look better than mine even after surgery! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteI love your new fireplace surround and can't wait to see the final product!
Ouch! Hope it feels better soon! Look forward to seeing all arranged in a final photo!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you Kris! Your fire surround is looking good, much more you! Take your time with the next phase and make sure to rest up on that beautiful new sectional - with Buddy by your side. Sending healing hugs x

ReplyDeleteHi Kris! Lovely footwear, lol. I truly hope you do not suffer too much pain and will heal quickly. The fireplace surround is looking nice. It will be fabulous with shiplap- but you must not overdo it! Ok? Hugs,

Poor Kris, I'm glad you got this taken care of before gardening season though!! Hugs & prayers for speedy healing!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with your foot, my neighbor had hers done last year, she's now having her second foot done this month.
ReplyDeleteThe fireplace surround looks 100% better! I can't wait to see it completed.
Glad all went well! It’s hard when you’re hindered by those casts but try to enjoy the down time. You can plan more projects lol!

ReplyDeleteHello Kris, I am so glad all went well with your surgery. Oh, I do hope you are resting and taking it easy. I can't wait to see how you decorate the fireplace. It's nice too the mantel and a light colored wood. I love decorating my mantel. :)

ReplyDeleteI just now read this post Kris. Praying you have a quick recovery, but I know this won't keep you down. Your pedicure looks fabulous, keep those tootsies warm!
ReplyDeleteAny kind of foot surgery is so painful! I do hope it's not hurting too much by now. Prayers for a complete healing, dear Kris! Love to you!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad your surgery went well and your on the road to recovery. Your foot is the best looking foot right after surgery...heck I better work on my toenails after seeing yours! I like what you’re done so far on the fireplace and l love the oak mantel! Stay off your feet and have Terry go buy one of those round floor vacuums that run across the room by itself and make sure you pick your feet up when it heads your way!
ReplyDeleteso glad your foot is better and you are feeling good.
ReplyDeleteLove the fireplace surround. I have a vintage one that I've had for about 20 years and it is my favorite piece, ever. I enjoy it so much and it's so fun to change up the decos on it. Fun to play with. I have candles in mine but have an idea I might try ....Hope you have fun with yours.....
Kris,
ReplyDeleteLove the fireplace and I wish you a speedy recovery as far as your foot is concerned...
Hugs,
Debbie
