Hello Sweet Friends. Happy Monday.
As many of you know that have been following my blog it has been a challenge to make my small living work for our everyday living.
The biggest challenge has been making a living room dining room combination work in this small space.
I am happy to say I think I have it now.
I want to show you the new Ikea Loveseat/Chaise I purchased. It is without a slipcover as that has been shipped off to Lisa at Fabrics 8 to do her magic to make a new custom ruffle on the Ikea slipcover.
|
This is the Ikea Sectional I purchased. |
|
This is the inspiration picture I found on Pinterest to send off to Lisa with the slipcover. She will work her magic and give me this custom ruffle on my new Ikea sectional. |
|
Here is my design assistant on the new Ikea sectional less the slipcover. |
|
This sectional fits so much better in this small square room. I am on the hunt for a small rug for under the sectional in blue and white. It will bring in some texture and color. |
|
This is how the room looked with my loveseat and corner chair. I did not like the way the loveseat blocked the openness to the room. |
|
This is the after less one slipcover. The Ikea sectional keeps the room feeling open. |
|
With the sectional having a chaise instead of a closed back loveseat it feels less cramped and more open. |
|
Buddy approves! He wants me to stop taking pictures and put the comfy throws back on the couch for him to nest in until the slipcover comes back from Lisa. |
|
Terry still has his power recliner facing the TV so he is a happy camper in the space now. I think this is a great feel and flow to this tiny living room and dining space. We have our comfy living room to watch TV and also a small dining area. This small room has lots of windows which let in lots of natural light. The bay window and the two other windows in this small space are such a plus. Once I get the slipcover back with my custom skirt I will be excited to show you Lisa's magic. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will receive it back and my living room and dining area will be complete. |
|
I was walking through Michaels and these roses and greens happened into my cart! I brought them home and tied them off to hang on my mirror for a little winter decor.
Wishing all of you a great week. |
I really like the way the IKEA couch looks in the room and it's the perfect size Kris. The new slipcover is going to look really nice on the couch. The roses look so pretty on the mirror but Michaels is a dangerous store for me to be in and shop. LOL! Hope you have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteOh so much better, this really really works. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHello, SUNSHINE! OK, you've done it again. I agree that this unit works a lot better than what you had before even though I was sad that you had to give up your RA settee! This is much more practical and open. And Buddy APPROVES! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Kris! You definitely found the right piece for your space. Can't wait to see the slipcover and the rug in place. And Buddy is so cute on that couch. Looks like he's waiting for you to come sit down and cuddle. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your new sectional, it fits the space perfectly. I can't wait to see it with the new slipcover. Buddy is such a cutie pie.....

Buddy sure seems happy with that new sectional, Kris! Looks great, and will only look even better once you get back the custom slipcover!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, you nailed it big time. This looks so good and makes everything open. Can't wait to see the new slipcover, loving the ruffle!
ReplyDeleteBuddy sent an SOS to Reeses and 3telling them he doesn't like being naked. Tell my mommy to get my throws.
Hugs,
Cindy
I think you've found the perfect couch, Kris! I know how much you loved that RA love seat, but this IKEA sofa does look better in the room because it gives it more space. And it's Buddy approved!
ReplyDeleteI love your room, and I can't wait to see the slipcover. The pretty posy on your mirror is perfect for winter. I really love the lightness and brightness of your living/dining room!
ReplyDeleteKris, Now I can fully see what you are talking about. Your pictures were so helpful. I can not wait to see the sofa with the slipcover and your new rug on the floor. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThe sectional looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's perfect! Now you BOTH can lay back and enjoy tv! Buddy will choose his throne. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo functional and pretty. Your little model is so cute. I love all the white.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty Kris. Love it. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteKris -- you might try Ruggables for a rug with blue and white. This looks really good.
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect! If I had that gorgeous sectional my husband and I would be in trouble trying to decide who gets the chaise part! Good thing Terry has his own spot. Looks like the chaise is a great spot to read and watch TV! Little Buddy seems to like it too!
ReplyDeleteKris, I hope your new Ikea couch does the job. Can't wait to see it with the new slipcover! The roses and greens are a gorgeous touch. So are the daffies. Take care!
ReplyDeleteYes, it does look better. It does take time and deliberation to get it right in a small home, I know. I think you've found the ONE!

Ohhh, I love your new sectional. It fits perfectly in your living room dining room combo. I am sure the new slipcover will look fabulous! You will love the chaise to stretch your legs. Buddy seems very happy. I hope your rug hunt goes well. Love the roses and greens, a nice addition Kris. Happy week ahead. Hugs

ReplyDeleteI adore a good kick pleated skirt so much more then ruffles. It gives it just enough femininity yet tailored relaxed formality at the same time.
The light is grand, noting like lots of windows in a petite cottage. I’m looking to buy a new home and I’m sure it will be smaller then the last. I keep shrinking with each buying.
I’m going to go catch up here to see what I’ve been missing.
Beautiful inspiration.
Come visit IG and the accounts I follow who live in small cottage spaces beautifully.

It looks perfect. Kris, It is definitely hard to make a small space work. I'm looking to replace my chair and ottoman with a recliner, but haven;t found one I like yet. The ottoman just takes up so much space. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteWow, that really opens up the room. Great find! xox
ReplyDeleteI like it Kris! And having Buddy smiling at us is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it will really work. My goodness, you have had your share of furniture issues in the last few homes. We are still pondering the couch issues in our roughly 14 x14 living space, as the couches are now over 30 years old, and the guts have just plain worn out---despite the upholstery really holding up! I'm sure the slip covers will be perfect for you. I think the room screams for something round---to tie the angles and the roundness of the the sofa edges, either a coffee table or a side table, but that is just me. Hugs, Sandi
ReplyDeleteSmart choice, Kris, it totally opens up the room! You've managed to successfully give this room multi-function with style and spaciousness. Wish you lived closer because I'd hire you in a heartbeat for a consult! Looking forward to seeing the pretty ruffle.
ReplyDeletei am sorry to say i liked the love seat and chair much better then the chaise defined the space better
ReplyDeleteI think the new sofa does open the room up more. I haven't had a chaise in a while so I'm stuck using a large foot stool. You can't really curl up in a chair and footstool like you do on a chaise. Can't wait to see the new slip cover.
ReplyDeleteKris, it is as pretty as I thought it would be. It appears that you have a lot more room now and the ruffles are going to be beautiful. I am with Buddy, I just love it..Happy Friday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteYou will love your sectional, Kris!! We spend tons of time in our living room since getting ours. I wish I would have purchased a lighter color....but am still happy with ours regardless. Looking GOOD!!! xo
