Hello Sweet Friends.
Happy Monday.
I am adding more blue to my whites in the living room and dining room.
I wanted to show you a rug I just got from Amazon. Actually it was from Wayfair just got it through my Amazon Prime. It was a bargain at $60 for a 5X7.
I always hate buying rugs on line because of the difference in colors on the computer.
With my Amazon Prime if I did not like it when it arrived I could just take it to Kohl's and they would return it to Amazon for me.
I would not have to package it up and try to get it shipped back.

Even in this picture it is hard to capture the light blue and white/ivory color to this rug.
It matches my drapes and chair pads nicely.

I originally intended this rug for under my new sectional but it just did not fit right. So I tried it under the dining table to see how it would look before thinking of returning it to Amazon.

I like it under my table and chairs so I think for $60 dollars I will keep it. It is very light weight and can be machine washed which is a plus. I like that it brings more blue into my room and adds some texture.
The floors while vintage in this house are really in bad shape and again with this house being built in 1940's they used that shellac that makes the oak floors look orange. I had this issue with the trim.
We will be putting in new floors come Spring. I looked into having these sanded down and re stained but they are so thin and been sanded so many times the flooring guy told me they would not look so great. Plus they did some kind of funky holes along the walls in these floors and then plugged the holes with some kind of wood putty. Crazy and not sure why they did this.
I was bummed to learn they cannot be fixed or sanded anymore because I do love vintage real wood floors.
The flooring we put in the kitchen we will put throughout the rest of the house.
Just have to wait until Spring so going in and out to cute pieces of flooring will not be too cold or snowy.

This vintage door frame was found on my fun day with a girlfriend on Friday. It was hidden behind a whole bunch of stuff in this vendors booth.
So happy I dug that out and brought it home.
This is part of the new surround cabinet he is making for the refrigerator.
He is cutting this down to fit it on the wall of the cabinet.
I cannot wait to show you how it is coming out.
Few more things to finish up on this refrigerator make over and surround cabinet and then I can show you how it all came together.
Stay tuned!
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Kris

Glad you are making the most of Winter blues..we are getting lots of rain in the sunny South..and it really does make us blue..Thanks for sharing..can't wait to see the fridge all done up. Your husband and you are a talented team. :0)
ReplyDeleteI love the rug! I think adding more blues to the white adds real dimension to your decor. Sometimes when everything is white it's hard to differentiate from one thing to the next.

Can't wait to see the surround for the refrigerator finished. Wonder if those holes around the outside of your floor could be from termite treatment. They are round and always at the edge along the walls and when the treatment is complete they plug them with a plug and if need be for another treatment down the road, they just pull the plugs. If it was a long time ago, I don't think they need to tell you when purchasing, but then every state is different. But my parents accidently bought a house that had been treated and real estate guy just said oh I think they used old wood when my Mother questioned him. Neighbors later set them straight. I lived in an apartment where it was hidden by the carpet, but found out when I purchased a car. My salesman happened to be the old Orkin guy that treated it. Might be interesting to find out.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret. I thought that too when I saw them and so we had the home inspector before we bought it make sure there were not termites. We got a clean report on that. The home inspector said he was not sure that is what those holes were since they are only along certain parts of the wall. I disagree and think what else could that be? Just glad it was checked and we do not have them. It will be good to cover the holes with the new flooring in the Spring. Thanks for your sweet visit and confirming what I thought too.

Kris

I just love all of your soft blues you have been adding to your living and dining areas.... blue and white.... oh so "cottage" and beachy and so so pretty.. that rug is just perfect... I love the lightness of it. Very smart! I used to go to the Oregon coast with my family as a child, and the place we stayed in had an all blue and white kitchen and dining room. I'll never forget it and will always love that combination of colors. And your kitchen surround will be awesome too I bet! Can hardly wait to see you and Terry work your magic on that! Hugs.. Marilyn
