Flowers and Past Lounge Chairs

I cannot wait to get my garden flowers going like these from past summers.

It has been unseasonably cold here in Illinois.
It should be in the high 60's and 70's but it has been in the low 40's and we had a few nights with the threat of frost.
Planting is usually underway by now.
Because of the possibility of frost this past weekend all the flowers have been in the garage until it is safe to plant.

It is supposed to get warmer by the end of the week.  Of course with the warmer temps rain is moving in too.  Friday looks to be a nice day so hopefully I will begin to get some of these plants in the ground.
Thought I would share some of my past lounge chair covers and garden flowers.

I cannot wait to get this year's lounge chair cover on and flowers planted.

  1. Good morning my dear!

You are ready in your garage. You are well-equipped to get those gorgeous blooms in the ground, in pots and your she-shed awaits you!

We too have had sunny but cooler than normal weather with very little rain to make the incoming clouds worth it. But, we wait. I think our joy will be twice as energetic this year with so many worries to slough off as we enjoy our places in the sun. Let's hang in there and see what the next two weeks brings us!

  3. Oooh, you're gonna have a fun week! The plants are gorgeous. We had freezing temps 3 nights, including last night! My girlfriend spent a fortune in plants, and then had to spend a small fortune in buckets, tarps and other coverings because she already planted! We're warming to 80s later in the week - too hot already. Have a good week, Kris!

  6. This spring has been unusually cold weather and I'm looking forward to warmer temps. It will be nice to plant the flowers all around your house. I enjoyed looking at the past lounge chairs. Enjoy the week.

  7. Your pretty lounge chairs with all the gorgeous flowers are so inviting! How do you keep them clean? If I put something like that out, there would be bird poop everywhere...ha! This cool and downright cold weather needs to stop. The leaves on both our Japanese maples have been damaged by the cold. Our garage is full of vegetable plants. I can see a climbing rose bush from my desk and it has buds which I hope will finally open. xoxo

  8. I hear you Kris, the weather has been so unpredictable in NJ too.

We usually plant by mid May but haven't yet either. Warm up this weekend with rain for us, terrible. I want to get things going 😩.

Always love seeing your beautiful flowers. Can't wait to see your lounger this year with your She Shed!

    Hugs,

    Cindy

  11. Hello,
COLD here too. 25 this morning. Everything is in the garage. I am going to create a Red White and Blue .. honor our Wisconsin National Guard on my front deck this summer. I am so happy with the plants I picked up on Wednesday at my favorite greenhouse.
Sam is in Milwaukee, if you see any Milwaukee news, he is one of the National Guard in the Brown Suits taking COVID19 samples at the free testing sights. He had a 14 hour shift yesterday. He shared with us they are very busy.
Stay Well and lots of love, Carla

  17. Kris, I loved looking back at your different lounge chair settings.. each and every one so pretty and unique. I love how your raise most of your huge plants up off the deck, with little benches or stools or tables. Great idea and it looks wonderful! I see all those gorgeous hydrangea plants ready to plant.. will they grow and bloom and withstand the winters there? I keep trying to plant them, and they never grow and just die. Can't figure it out. Looking forward to when you get get out and get your hands dirty planting! Have fun (if it ever warms up). We did have a few days of 80 degrees, but now back down to in the 50's during the day and near freezing at night.. plus some much needed rain. Have a good week! Marilyn

  18. They're all stunning, Kris! Each year your flowers are more beautiful than pictures in garden catalogues. You definitely do something right with hanging baskets. Oh those luscious pink hydrangeas in your garage! I know you want to get them in the ground. It's been an unseasonably cold May here in Nashville so I know my blog friends in the north must be having to wait to plant. Surely it will come soon. Before you know it your sweet lounge chair will be surrounded by your lovely flowers!

  22. Hi, Kris. We have everything ready to plant. We are a bit colder up here in LZ but, soon the inland will keep us warmer. You sure have a lot of plants to go in. Our greenhouse is full and I will take my last inside photos tomorrow, as we empty it out and place all all our plants. Today was gorgeous, chilly, but a great work day! Happy Midwest Gardening..!
