Garden Shed Weekend

I was able to work a little bit this weekend on the soon to be
She Shed/Garden Shed.

It is a work in progress.  I ended up painting the dutch door a sky blue.  Added some flowers and an old flower Market sign I already had to the top of the shed.  I am still waiting on my new sign to come in from Etsy.

That blue dutch door needs some pretty decor put on it.  With all the shops closed it is hard to figure all of that out.

It was gorgeous all weekend.  70's both days and sunshine.  We will be going back to chilly temps this week so no planting yet.

Hoping by Mother's Day to be able to start planting.  I can see blue and pink hydrangeas and roses and lavender or salvia planting around the shed and also in the back beds.  That big tree is going to get a nice hook for a hanging basket and also my bird feeders.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  These little teases of warm weather and sunshine help so much.
We are still Shelter in Place until the end of May here in Illinois.
At least the nurseries are allowed to open with precautions.
Can't wait to get my flowers going.
Have a great week.

  4. KRIS!!! YOu nailed it. This is looking so good and I can envision the rest. The blue door is perfect. Do you have any wreaths you can embellish? I know, without Michael's being open, I have had to scour my closets and garage for any supplies I may have on hand to use for my garden dƩcor. The spray above the door with the sign is lovely. I am so excited for you!

  7. Oh, I bet you couldn't wait to get up and go out there and play with your wonderful she-shed. This is probably just me, but the blue door is a bit distracting to me. Which is odd coming from me as I so love color. Maybe consider white washing it down just a bit? Like I said, just a suggestion. What do I know? I've never had a she-shed but I sure do admire yours.

  11. I'll being sheltering in place long after it is necessary. That's just the precautions I will be taking. Praying often for your daughter, son in law, and husband. That's all I know to do is pray and trust.
You have a lovely place to dwell. :)

  12. It's looking great Kris - I can just imagine it with the flowers and everything else you have mentioned. It will be well worth the wait. It is hard to get things with the shops closed, and I know that I am spending so much time looking for necessities which we need at the moment. Stay safe and keep well. Hugs, Gilly x

  17. It's looking great Kris! I too love the blue door and that cute hanging planter that matches.. and the sign above the door and the pray of flowers... so pretty and I bet it was so great to get outside and work on it for awhile. These "teaser" days are so wonderful... we just have to watch it here as nights still getting down in the 30's! I want to put our fountain out but going to wait another few weeks as don't want it to freeze and crack. You may need a trickling fountain out there also! Hugs.. Marilyn

  18. Your she shed is coming along nicely! Can't wait to see it once you get all your flowers planted. Is your design assistant Buddy interested in going into the she shed? Our Chis go in the greenhouse to lay on the pea gravel since it is warm. Kind of like a hot stone massage...lol... Take care, hope all your family is well. xoxo

  20. Oh that’s looking so cute! I can just imagine it with flowers planted around it. Some hollyhocks would be so sweet too! I’ve been able to visit my garden centers. It’s very strange to see everyone wearing masks while shopping. I have to store my plants in the garage due to near freezing temps expected for a while. We had a glorious weekend too- let’s pray for many more!

  21. Everything looks so good and will be even more so once you're able to get some planting done. I adore Dutch doors and yours looks great with that shade of blue. Blue is a paint color I struggle with getting correctly.
Have a great Mother's Day this next weekend.
I hope you will be able to get some face time calls with your girls and grandbabies.

  24. Love that blue. Perfect. Looks like we will be cooling down into the sixties for a few days, but I feel grateful that we won't be getting snow like many people in the north. Stay safe, my friend. xo Laura

  26. The color you painted the door and mailbox is so pretty, Kris! Yes, it'll look amazing surrounded by beautiful pink and blue hydrangeas. It's warmed up here too and our greenhouses have also opened so like you, I'm feeling anxious to start planting. Happy Mother's Day this weekend! It's going to be a very different one, isn't it.

  28. Your shed looks so pretty there, and love the blue door. We are so tired from the yard, today's crappy weather was a blessing. Forecasting a hard freeze here on Friday, so nothing is going in the ground. And, my greenhouse is bursting! Have a great week! Sandi

  29. Our garden centers stayed open this whole time which kept me sane. Haha. Your shed is too adorable. We have a shed but it scares me to go in. I can't wait to read more about this darling shed and what you do to it.

  30. Well goodness this is just wonderful! I know that you are enjoying fluffing her up and getting ready for warmer weather.
I can see all the Summer blooms in my mind eye adorning her and you sitting beside her enjoying some wonderful iced tea.
    Happy Mother's Day!

  31. The shed is looking so charming. I love the split window, and how its lines work with the door so well. We are also shelter in place through May here in Washington state. It's a great time to get things done in the garden! Looking forward to watching progress on this sweet shed!
