Hello Sweet Blog Friends.
I want to show you what we did with that big armoire to make it fit in this tiny house.
This is the armoire I got for free on FB Marketplace. I did not like the design of the grapes and leaves so I knew that pattern would be gone with the re love of this piece. |
It had been used as a computer station. I wanted it for a TV armoire but it was way too big and deep for our small living room. Soooo....... |
He is the neighborhood watch so this keeps him very busy during the day and this is why he needs frequent naps! It is rough being in charge of the going ons in the neighborhood. |
I bought two sets of handles at Hobby Lobby. One was a big plain white handle and the other one was the smaller chippy design handle. |
I like the chippy one added to the larger one to make a unique handle. |
We put up new molding where the grapes and leaf pattern was in the original design. |
Here is a side view of the crown and trim being cut down to 5 inches. |
This is how the old TV cabinet and fireplace surround looked before we got the new armoire to re love. |
Now the surround and sconces are moved to the other side of the room and under my mirror. I sold the old TV cabinet. I like the look of the fireplace surround under my mirror. |
So there she is. Big ole armoire made into a new cabinet to hide the TV. Living small you have to be creative in figuring out how to make things work in your small space. I hope any day now to get a call that my slipcovers are ready for this chair and one other that the guy has in his shop. I will show you those when they are ready. I love the brightness of this room. I am on the hunt for a neat sign or something for above the armoire on this wall. Have a good Friday today and a great weekend. xoxo Kris Parties: Create Bake and Grow & Gather Keep in Touch Party https://www.ourhopefulhome.com/2020/08/vintage-charm-party-248-and-august.html |
WOW! That turned out wonderful. You two are so creative!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh what a HUGE improvement. I was trying to figure out what you were going to do with such a large piece. Your husband is truly a gem. Mine would never have done all that work. You are blessed. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAmazing transformation to fit your house perfectly. Love how it hides the tv and the cable box. I hate seeing wiring. The other side of the room looks lovely with the mirror above the fireplace. Kudos to you both for re-loving this piece. Such a great design team. Xo
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! That Terry can redo anything. And Buddy is a good watch dog.

WOW, WOW, WOW, this is some transformation and beautiful doesn't seem to fit. Terry us amazing with his tools. He's a carpenter!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how they fall asleep sitting up. Reeses as you know us the neighborhood watch patrol too. Buddy is so cute and a handsome boy.

Cindy
It's lovely, but I'm curious - what has happened to the dining table and chairs that you had in front of that window? Did I miss a post?
ReplyDeleteHoly wow! I wouldn’t have ever thought of that but it works nicely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kris! I think this is just what that wall needed! And the fireplace surround looks so much better under the mirror! Yay for pulling the room together. It's looking fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cecilia
That is absolutely awesome!!!!! My jaw actually dropped. It is so good. I need a Terry in my life.... what an awesome handy man!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteWe ALL need a Terry in our lives!
DeleteB R I L L I A N T is all I can say. Totally brilliant and brave and skillful of both of you to take apart the old piece, cut it down and get it to be placed correctly! Amazing. Kris, I love it. And you were able to keep your fireplace surround!!! So that's on the other wall....I would love it if you could get a photo of the entire room?Is that possible?
ReplyDeleteThis armoire redo is great. Is this the same area where you previously had dining table and chairs? If so, where did those go?
ReplyDeleteThe armoire looks so beautiful in your living room Kris. I love it and it's nice to have a handy husband to fix up the furniture you find. Buddy is just adorable. Have a nice Friday and weekend.
ReplyDeletewow, such a great idea. I know sometimes it can't be helped but I really don't like seeing the big black hole on a wall. This frame-out looks fabulous. you guys come up with the best most creative ideas. Have a great weekend, Kris!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Kris! I just knew that you and Terry would work your magic on that huge piece. It looks perfect and it's great that it hides all of those things, whilst they are not in use. Your fireplace looks perfect under that beautiful mirror. Did I miss a post about when you moved the oblong table and 4 chairs out of the window bay? Hugs, Gilly x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Brilliant!! Kudos to the both of you ~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Great job. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant makeover! So many of us have those chunky TV and computer cabinets of old. Our TV is above our mantel, and there is literally no where else to put it in our family room. Our house is all open, and we have tons of windows which leaves little wall space.
ReplyDeleteY'all did a great job. Your living room is so cute!
Terry and his tools working their magic again. Wow, the armoire looks amazing! Glad to see you were able to keep that darling fireplace and it looks so good under your mirror with the sconces. The Dynamic DIY Duo strikes again! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm curious too! What happened to the dining table??? It looked so pretty there! I must have missed something! This redo is amazing and gorgeous. Terry is such a gem to reconfigure that huge hutch! As someone else said "we all need a Terry"!!!!! And of course, YOU are amazing too in your visions and all the painting you do. I can't/won't even attempt to paint a small side table. I certainly have "Kris and Terry envy"........... have a great weekend! Marilyn
ReplyDeletePerfect, you've done such a great job.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kris. This turned out just to be perfect all the way around. Your decor mind must be gathering info all the time. You really have so many good ideas. The cabinet looks just like it was made for there and the fire place under the mirror is wonderful. It looks like it is a perfect scale for the wall with all of the added accessories. Did you take your table and chairs out? Will you ever show a pic of the whole room at once. I get mixed up where everything is..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteYour vision and Terry's handywork are incredible!
ReplyDeleteWhat was on this wall before? I don't remember.
Tarry is quite an accomplished craftsman! It looks fabulous, just like you imagined. Love the way you did the handles. The fireplace is so pretty under the mirror.
ReplyDeleteSheriff Buddy is keeping your neighborhood safe. He has to nap when he can so he's ready in case of an emergency! xoxo
Looks great. I just wonder; Where has the table and chairs gone???
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
