Hello Sweet Friends.
Cleaned out all my flower beds and winterized the front and back yard this weekend. We will only be in the 50's and very low 60's all this next week. Lot's of rain this week too. In Illinois we go from one extreme to the next with our weather. These temps are below normal for this time of year. I hope that is not a sign of what is to come!

My sweet primitive angel I have had for years is hanging on the door for fall.
|
|
Little pumpkins and gourds made it into the birdbath. My cherub looks like he is looking up at me saying "really? " I want summer still.
|
|
It feels strange to be putting fall out. I already miss summer.
|
|
My little cottage is beginning to look like fall somewhat.

There are still a few signs of summer. The roses still have a whole lot of buds to open yet. These will bloom and re bloom all the way through fall until we get a frost. How is your fall decorating going? I am going to start working on the inside next.
Have a good week. Hugs, Kris

Kris, what can I say....your selection of decorations is always impeccable. Those flower boxes of yours, did Terry make those? Again, speechless...it's really here, isn't it, fall? Yesterday, we got a small shower. It passed so fast then the sun came out. It was about 4pm so the sun was over on the west end. The light was causing the water on the yellow leaves of a few trees to sparkle like diamonds. THIS is what I love about the fall!
ReplyDeleteYour yard and home looks beautiful!! I have a touch of fall but also have some skeletons that have shown up too!!
ReplyDeleteLove how you decorated your window boxes, Kris, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo charming!!!! I am so ready for Fall. Happy Fall, y'all!
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty fall color. Your home looks so pretty
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorated the outside of your house for fall Kris! I like your color scheme and the basket looks great and what a cute sign from your friend.
ReplyDeleteWe have summer weather here and I am not ready for the cooler temps. I am slowly starting to decorate for fall.
Take care and have a nice week Kris.
Hello Kris! Your fall decorating looks fabulous! I’m slowly emptying my flower pots, it’s so hard to let go! We too have extremes in temps like you and this week will be on and off rain but only in the 50’s. Fall has arrived that’s for sure!
ReplyDeleteI bet your neighbors think you're an interior designer or something with all the decorating. Probably makes their real estate go up just being near you. Yes, the angel does look like it's saying that to you! It looks disgruntled.

Ooo, your little cottage looks so pretty! Love all your sweet touches of Fall. I've never had squirrels bother my pumpkins or gourds so I'm no help. 😜 I put my inside Fall decorations out on the first week of September but down here, I needed the reminder cooler temps were on their way. Haven't decorated outside much...the flowers are loving our milder days and are blooming their little hearts out. I need a wreath for the new door. I need to dig through my stuff and see if I can find something to stand up to the elements - we still don't have a cover over the door. (One of the many finishing tasks for our room conversion!)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were wondering the same thing - if we're already this cool, what is winter going to be like? Stay warm! Hugs, Cecilia
Your fall is off to a great start. Love the sign it so pretty and adds a great touch.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cindy
Um, I'm still thinking on Fall...You had great fun with your new house and all the lovely touches of Fall. Maybe this week, lol. I'm always behind.Sandi
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty, I love all your fall touches! My knockout roses are still blooming too. I love seeing them. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteVery cute as always.
ReplyDeleteYour seasonal decorations are lovely.
ReplyDeleteKris, I for one am praying for a long pleasant autumn. I do not want to think of nasty weather. LOL. I love how adorable your house looks all decorated for fall. The angel is perfect on your door once more. Blessings and hugs, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI am such a laggard in fall decorating compared to you! Your neighbors must love passing by your beautiful cottage year round. I have got to buy some pumpkins soon, at least. Now I'm going back and looking at your pictures again, for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI know it's sad to see the end of the summer blooms, but your fall decor looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing the inside next. Our temperatures here in UK have also fallen, and tomorrow will see the start of several days of rain. The gardens will be pleased, even if it means that we won't be able to get outside and do things for a while. Hugs, Gilly
ReplyDeleteYour cottage looks so dressed up and love all the pops of orange... that little truck sign is darling. What is it about little old trucks? I haven't done a thing for Fall around my house.. .flowers are still blooming and loving the cooler weather (by "cool" I mean it's only in the 80's during the day!). Much better than all the 100 degree plus we had all summer. Our "Fall" here is usually in the 80's and I hope it lasts at least another month. Love all the flowers.. lots of orange marigolds so that helps with the Fall feeling, plus some of the neighbors' tree leaves are starting to change color. I'm not ready for winter! Our nights are starting to cool down which is nice so we can open the bedroom window now! Last night was 38... we won't get a frost though for at least another 10 days, according to the weather app I have. Take care... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteKris, someone told me to spray our pumpkins with hair spray. It helped a bit, until it rained! So last year I used the spray (Krylon, maybe?) poly covering I use on other things that I want to keep outside. It worked!! And, of course, the rain didn't bother it at all. Be sure to spray the bottoms, also.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I will try this. Have a great week.
DeleteI love the fall decor on the exterior of your adorable cottage! It's so cute! Today is cool here in Central Alabama. It's only 65 degrees on the mountain. I'm cold! ;P
ReplyDeleteI've put six mini pumpkins in a muffin tin. That's all the fall decorating I've done so far! ;P I need to get with it!
Kris, your fall decor looks lovely. love the angels. You have certainly dressed your house to perfection. It's been hot this week, but the nights are cooling. Enjoy this week. Hug
ReplyDeleteKris, the fall looks so pretty at your house. I love how neat your garden is. Mine looks like something died, as all the plants did! At least they are dried up so it gives the impression of fall..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteVery lovely!! Try hot sauce on the gourds and pumpkins. Worked for my neighbor years ago. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, its all so darn cheerful! Lucky you with rain, we are 100 degrees for a week 🙁
ReplyDeleteI hope the neighborhood squirrels leave all your pretties alone! Everything is so lovely with the softer colors. Send some rain down our way. Dry, dry, dry. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love it all. Looks so seasonal and warm/inviting. Love the door angel and also your truck gift is great. I use some fake flowers on my porch, too, and I know some folks do not like it..but I love flowers..so whatever it takes to get them there. Peace and Happy Fall. :0)
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, love it all! You've just made everything look wonderful with your fall decor!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Beautiful as always, Kris! You've motivated me to get moving with my own decor. We're planning to hit the farmsteads this weekend. I need pumpkins and mums!! Enjoy the day my friend! xo
ReplyDeleteIt all looks wonderful, but I think my favorite thing is the pumpkins in the Adirondack chair! Many of my summer flowers are still doing surprisingly well(I don't think they've ever lasted so long), so I haven't ripped them out yet, but I have added pots of mums now that it's officially fall!
ReplyDeleteFall looks great at your sweet cottage!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by and looks like you are all ready for Fall. Your cottage looks so cute and charmingly Fallish.
I came by before but it wouldn't let me leave a comment. Don't know why that happens
when I come over from the the reminder your blog sends out. Crazy!!
Have a good weekend hon,
Love and Blessings,
Nellie
Very pretty! Are those real flowers in the window boxes and boots? You can coat your pumpkins in either hairspray or petroleum jelly to keep squirrels out of them. They don't like the sticky texture. Also, squirrels are afraid of owls so you can put an owl statue by your pumpkins.
