The walls were a mess so we found these ceiling tiles at Home Depot and used them on the walls. Easy peasy to install and completely washable. |

I love, love, love what you have done to that kitchen. The touch of red is beautiful and the tin backsplash is perfect. I have seen that fan on another blog and love it. Could you tell me where you got it or the name of it? I would love to put one like that in out next home.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful changes and what a lot of hard work!

Wowee, Kris! I came over here to see if you had anything to report on the tornado in the Chicago - wth??! I know it was northeast of you, very glad for that. Now, this kitchen. Girl, you and Terry simply amaze me with what you do. And the soffits....do you mean decorating them or are you planning to remove them? With you, one can never tell! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, Kris. Love that fan, it's the first of something I've seen like this. You know you're terribly in style as the British have their washer and dryers in the kitchen! You two have totally transformed that space!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Kris, this makeover is sooo amazing. Can I hire you to re-do my kitchen?! How do you like the quality of your new cabinet doors?
ReplyDeleteI am one of those who loves having a ceiling fan in my kitchen. Our kitchen is an eat-in one and it is always a natural gathering space for anyone who visits. So it's nice to sit in the kitchen with the fan going. Plus, I do a lot of cooking and in the summer it gets hot, even with the AC on. I have never had a problem with the ceiling fan attracting grease. As far as dust, no big deal at all. It doesn't get that bad. I maybe dust it twice/month.
I had never seen the kind of ceiling fan you have - that is so cool!
What a beautiful difference, Kris! And it's even a different style from your other kitchens and totally works here. I love the ceiling tiles you used on your walls. Would you mind sharing details on the ceiling light/fan? I need a little air movement in my kitchen and yet kept putting off getting a ceiling fan. I love your light fixture fan! Countertops are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Dewena,
DeleteI got that ceiling light/fan from Home Depot. It works so great and is so quiet. The only thing I will tell you is it came with 5 light bulbs that lite up the entire condo lol. So we just put in two of the light bulbs and that was the perfect amount of light. You do not see that bulbs are missing so it is all good. Hope that helps. xoxo Kris
Looks fabulous. Just a question. Why does the grain on the butcher block counters go in different directions? i am considering them for my kitchen. Is this how they are always installed?
ReplyDeleteJust the one piece between the stove and washer is one way different than the rest. We did that on purpose so we would not have to buy another full piece. The last piece we had fit the other way perfect. So we saved about $400.
DeleteI didn't know they made such a thing as that fan. It certainly is pretty. I love the white cabinets and butcher block. I think butcher block makes it warm and cozy. I'll take it every time.
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE what you have done with the kitchen. Everything is so beautiful and the new white cabinet doors make it so much brighter. You and Terry did a fabulous job :o)

What a transformation! The kitchen looks amazing and practical as well. I love the countertops.

Man you and your husband work fast! I can't believe it's only been a month and you've done that much! It looks beautiful as I knew it would. I liked the way you moved the fridge. It was awkward in it's original place, plus you gained more counter and cabinet space. I love, love, love that light/fan fixture. Beauty and function. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteWell....what a transformation! It all looks amazing Kris and you and Terry have done such a lot, in a small space of time. I love all of it, but I have to say that my favourite piece is the Jug/lamp. It's so beautiful and different. Looking forward to seeing what new treasures you find for those cute shelves. Hugs, Gilly
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen redo looks fabulous! Such a huge change! Love all the white, the ceiling tile backsplash and that hidden fan light fixture is genius! It all looks so cheerful and inviting! I'm glad that you got the washer and dryer put in! So much more convenient than dragging your laundry to the basement! Great job! Y'all are amazing! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am continually amazed at your beautiful and creative makeovers! You have transformed the kitchen into a welcoming place. I love the tiles you used. I have been trying to convince my husband to put them in our kitchen. I can’t wait to see more💗

ReplyDeleteIn one month's time, you guys have done SO MUCH! Kris, I hope that you will truly have a break from all the hard to work to simply enjoy this sweet haven you have created. Both of you are so talented and can turn a dated residence into a sparkling new creation. It looks marvelous!!!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks so pretty with the light cabinets and new appliances. What a difference. I cannot believe how much work you have done in such a short time. The ceiling fan is lovely. I have a similar one in our pool house. Kudos to you and Terry. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have done so much in only a month! Fantastic! The butcher block is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! The transformation is incredible... I can’t believe you did all that in such a short time. I really love the backsplash and think I might try that. Can you tell me more about it? You ROCKED this!! So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Margy,
DeleteThose are just ceiling tiles sheets I got at Menards. They work great and are pretty good size and fit together nicely. Very light weight and easy to hang. I used small white nails to attach them to the wall. They have several styles. They are actually supposed to be for your ceiling but they work great on the wall. Here is a link. Menards has lots of designs.

Hope that helps.
Hugs,

Kris, I have been reading your updates, just not commenting (crazy busy life)
ReplyDeleteI love the changes to your wonderful new cottage ❤️🌹🌷🌸
We have two lamps in our kitchen as well. I love the look of yours
Your kitchen looks wonderful! Love the countertops and backsplash.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a difference! I love your backsplash and I MUST have that ceiling fan for two rooms in our house. We have the same appliances except you have the range that I wish we would have chosen. I don't blame you for wanting an insuite washer and dryer, I would have done the same. They look great in your kitchen. Wonderful makeover by the Dynamic DIY Duo! xo
ReplyDeleteKris, I'm loving the kitchen and the counters are so pretty. They have tons of movement. Love the sign on the wall too. Love the look of the white tin on the walls with the butcher block.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a light like the one in your kitchen, great find. Love the floors too. You and Terry have made the condo a treasure.
Love the piece on the wall too holding your wooden spoons!
Hugs,
Cindy
You and Terry did an amazing job with the kitchen makeover! I love this kitchen. It's great that you put the washer/dryer in the kitchen, instead of doing the laundry in the basement! I love the white tiles for the backsplash, the white cabinets, and how you moved the refrigerator over to get more counter space. Great job. I hope you both can have a relaxing summer Kris!
ReplyDeleteWowowow!!! Gorgeous, Kris!! You've done your magic again! Happy Tuesday, my friend!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I noticed was a few red accents, which surprised me I guess. I don't think I've ever seen you add red before. But it is all so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBrenda

ReplyDeleteWOWZERS Kris! This kitchen is one to dream for! I love every single thing about it. What a transformation. Girl...you need to go into business! I adore the backsplash. Girl...you must be tired. Love everything about this kitchen. You are surely turning your condo into a home. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteIt all so nice, bright, and clean now! I like how you were able to fit a washer and dryer in the unit, because it will make your life much easier! The kitchen has a Swedish look and function and someone might mistake it for Sweden! xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome Kris and I love the backslash! Can you send me a link to that ceiling fan/light? Xo
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful so far! I love the ceiling tiles as backsplash, and the butcher block countertops are so pretty. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at what you and Terry have accomplished in such a short time. We've been in our house 5-1/2 years and haven't done anything close to what you have done! Of course, our main deterrent is MONEY! and lack thereof.......you guys really rock. I'm dreaming about white cabinets.... maybe one day it will happen. I cannot do it myself physically. Nor can Hubby. You are SO SO fortunate to have a hubby who can do all those things! So glad you got the stacking washer and dryer in the kitchen. You will love it in the kitchen! Ours are in our kitchen, off in a little nook but close to the kitchen sink, and I just love the location and it's so easy to throw things in the washer from right there. There's a nice big window by it so can look outside while I do the wash! And I too love the pops of red. I see you have a little lamp on the counter which I love. It gives the kitchen a nice soft glow in the evening when all is done in there and it's quiet for the night. My mom always did that, so I finally made room for one on our counter! I hope you take some time to rest now! xoxoo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for a while…so I have been following your blog for a while…you entire home is just BEE-u-tiful! WwOoWw!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the stacking washer-dryer combo…what brand ar they? How do they work (are they able to handle blankets, comforters?)
Thank you for sharing you gorgeous house …and for providing such inspiration!
xoxo,
Nina
Hi Nina,
DeleteThank you for following my blog. I so appreciate you coming by. The stackables are Bosh 300 series. I did a lot of research and these work the best and had the best reviews especially since we cannot vent our dryers. I use the big ones in our basement for comforters or blankets but for everything else they work great. So far so good. Hope that helps. xoxo Kris
Love the changes. That light fixture with fan is so cool. My ceiling is so low I can’t see it working but I’d love that vs. the ceiling fan. It looks all so fresh snd bright. Love, love, love it all. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cecilia
The kitchen turned out great, Kris. I love what you did. I am going to use those same ceiling tiles in the camper for the kitchen area walls. The ones I have are silver though-but-after seeing the white ones I might exchange the ones I have. I love that you were able to get a stack unit in your condo. How lucky that the plumbing, etc. were right there so you could do that. I hope you are loving your place and that it truly feels like home already. xo xo Diana
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Love the Kitchen! And you know I just adore those pops of red!! What a transformation!! Just stunning!!
Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Omigosh!!! Not even the same room from the before and after!! Amazing transformation but I’m not surprised. You guys are the dynamic duo of design. It all looks fabulous and I love the light/fan. Very very cool find!!! Xxoo
ReplyDeleteWOW!! What an amazing transformation!!! I am glad you shared about the fan, I do not like ceiling fans as well, we have 4 of them to change out as we go from room to room doing updates.
ReplyDeleteWe just ripped up our floor in our kitchen, it looks like we maybe able to use the original oak flooring that was under the sub floor.
I also like the tile idea, you have given me many ideas.
Thank You,
Carla
The new cabinet doors are beautiful! Ceiling tiles are the perfect backsplash. The fan is my favorite thing in your new kitchen. It provides air circulation without the blades that catch every bit of dust and grease from cooking. Even if there is very little frying going on, there is still grease. It's good that you have access to larger machines for washing blankets, etc. It is all coming together beautifully! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHow pretty your white kitchen is! Love every inch of it. Another great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a massive improvement! It's stunning now. Love the ceiling fan all enclosed like that - what a good idea!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beautiful new kitchen :)
xoxoxox
Hi Kris...I have been following with great interest your renovations because everything is beautiful! I have a kitchen renovation that I'm saving for and I wonder what brand your new appliances are...do you like the finish? All the Best!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky the appliance are from Lowes and they are Samsung. Hope that helps. They are not high end just middle of the road. I do not like the high end with all the bangs and whistles. They seem to be a nightmare when they do not work right. These came in a bundle where you can get all four appliances for a bundle price. Cheaper that way. xoxo
DeleteDa Da!!! How amazing your transformation is..love it..so pretty and cozy.. You will sure enjoy it..I have never seen a light/fan combo like that one..how clever...I love the little lamp? I think..with Family on it.. Yall are so amazing..your Team of Three. Have a blessed day and week. I hope all goes well. (I am behind and catching up with some recent posts)..
ReplyDeleteI love it, Kris. I love the counters. It looks light and bright with the white cabinets. I love the walls too. I'm thinking about that for our backsplash. So smart to have a washer and dryer in your unit.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, I’m just catching up after soooo long & crazy job change !! We downsized too & my hubby is still on the Fire Dept. HOW can I talk him into shelves over the stove ??? I don’t think we need a fan bc y’all aren’t the first I’ve seen without one! Heartbroke to see about Buddy too but just know he had THE BEST (and cutest home 🏡). Oxoxo Christina dolfanman1344@aol.com
