Finished Bathroom Wall

As I showed you in my last post these are the floor tiles that were done half way up the wall.  I just did not like this look.  I wanted more of a cottage look to the bathroom wall.  Plus tiles with grout are not my friends!
Pictures will be faded with no natural light in this bathroom.  I had all the lights on to get these pictures.

We did not want to glue the bead board to the ceramic wall tiles in case we ever wanted to take the bead board down.
We found this amazing two sided tape that hold up to 250lbs of pressure and is moisture proof.
As seen on Tv so it has to be good right!!!!!
We thought we would give it a try.

Terry cut his pieces of bead board to fit over the existing tiles.
We used the two sided tape to attach the bead board to the tiles.
You have to make sure your tiles under neath are clean so the tape sticks well.
When the tiles are clean and dry Terry applied the two sided tape to the tiles to attach the bead board.

We did not have baseboards so he also used the tape to attach new baseboards to give the finished cottage look.
After putting up all the beadboards and base molds he chalked all the seems where the baseboard and bead boards met.

Terry then added a nice chair rail to the top of the bead board which also filled in the gap between the tiles and the bead board.
He did nail this since he had the wall behind the chair rail.

Drilling into cement or tiles is very difficult so using the tape saved time and mess and noise.  Now we will see over the next months if the "As seen on TV" tape will hold up in the bathroom.
I will keep you posted.

I have to say if this works and does what it claims this is one easy way to change up this bathroom look with very little mess and not to ruin the tiles underneath.

Two coats of white paint and now I have the nice cottage look I wanted to these walls.
No more tiles with grout to clean.
I am keeping the tile floors for now.
They are a pain to keep the grout white and clean but for now they will stay.
I am happy with how the walls came out.
It was an easy one day job and not a lot of mess or noise to make this change.

I like having baseboards around the bathroom.  Before it was just the tiles on the wall hitting the tiles on the floor.

We pulled out the vanity and sink and put the beadboard behind the vanity to keep the look going.

Terry had to do some maneuvering around the light switch but made it work.

So now we have bead board to give a more cottage look to the bathroom.

I will keep you posted on how the Alien tape holds up in the bathroom.

Have a great Friday and wonderful weekend.
xoxo
Kris

  6. This is fabulous! It is so you, Kris, and Terry is a master carpenter! Have to keep that tape in mind. A person can never know when something like that would come in handy.

Enjoy your weekend! We are have low 60s in the mornings and love to mid 80s during the day. I have been canning tomato recipes and next up will be potatoes. It makes a huge mess in the kitchen but the finished products are well worth it. I have the vinegar cleaner out, ready to tackle the stoves. xoxo

  21. I love the look of beadboard.. and boy does it look great in your bathroom. As usual, Terry worked his magic... I like the part "he made it work"... yup.. he always does! I bought a similar tape to put up some silver ceiling (looking) tiles above my woodstove.. had a few fires last winter and it held fast even with some heat. I have a big piece of beadboard sitting in my living room, behind a piece of furniture, that I've wanted to put on that wall, but just never have! Now if I could use that tape.... I could do it! Just didn't know how to nail it on or what kind of nails, etc. I'm going to go check out the tape I bought and see if it's similar. Nice job you two! Marilyn

  28. Hi Kris: Another great job under Terry's belt. I agree with you about tile. I am dreading cleaning tiny hexagon tiles on the guest bathroom floor. Used to get on my hands and knees and scrub with a brush, but those times have come and gone! I hope the tape works because it all looks beautiful and what a clean way to fix it up. So pretty and it was so nice to have a visit with you..Happy Monday..xxoJudy
