We found a great FB Marketplace bargain on custom made plantation shutters for the sliding door off the kitchen. Drapes will go and the new shutters will go in place. |
I was able to make my chandelier from the old dining room work in the entry of the new place. Oh how I love this chandelier I have had for years. It looks pretty hanging in the entry way. |
Wow, you guys have been very busy!!! It looks amazing....I love the white, so fresh and airy looking. I look forward to seeing how you transform this into a charming cottage. [Hope they finally got your bed right!]

I hear you on the customer service situation. It will all get straightened out, but it's hair pulling in the meantime. Moving is such a stressor, but you're in and Terry is better. 2 big blessings. Your pics are gorgeous. So much light and space. It's really lovely Kris!
ReplyDeleteI swear, you guys have done more in just a few days of moving in than we've done in 34 years, lol!! I can't imagine moving in AND painting like that. I hear you on the ugly brown trim. We have that around all our windows still. I hate it, but we are not DIYers, so it's stayed. When we had the guest bedroom painted a few years ago, we had the painters paint the trim white instead of replacing it. We are thinking of moving in the next year or so, so now I don't want to be doing anything much in this house anyway, so the brown trim stays. I am so sorry about the bed problems. That's crazy. You're right - customer service sucks these days. The only two companies that have good customer service that I've dealt with are Amazon and Chewy. Can't wait to follow along on your new house journey!
ReplyDeleteWow that was a lot. I can't believe how much you have gotten finished. Where do you and Terry get your energy. Can you ship some to our house?
ReplyDeleteLove both chandeliers. Customer service and respect seems to be extinct today. Such a shame. Looking forward to seeing more!
Think that yall have found "The Perfect Paradise", it sure sounds :0). Love all your chandies and especially the shutters for the sliding doors..have not seen that before..can't wait to see more. So sorry yall have had a rough start with that bed and sleep situation and hope you get a resolution fast. Beautiful new place and as always, thank you for sharing your talents and end results with us. :0)
ReplyDeleteYou two are the consummate homemakers, hassles and all. I guess I can believe how awful your customer service has been. What in the world is wrong with people and companies now? I am amazed at those plantation shutters for your sliding glass doors, how cool! Will they slide, be stationary, or open outward? Your chandeliers are both gorgeous. You have a magic touch with your cottage decorating. I really look forward to your updates, Kris. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYAY, I am happy this is moving along, so disappointed for both of you regarding the moving and new bed. Hubbs and I are 70 and I certainly hope our movng experience is better in 6 months. Great information on the builder grade walls. I might start with a primer before I paint.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for your new adventure. Terrific news that you are surrounded by fun new friends
Kris, I am thrilled you are all moved in. So sorry to hearing about the moving truck and the bed situation. I hope you get the new mattress soon. Customer service has gone down the tubes. You and Terry have quite the energy to move and then paint. Kudos to you both. Love the chandeliers, so elegant. Happy decorating
ReplyDeleteOh nothing worse than waiting on something then getting the wrong one! So inconvenient and frustrating. Hope you get the bed fiasco sorted out soon. The shutters will look great! Behr is my go to paint. It usually covers well…makes you wonder about the existing paint. I do agree with you - customer service ain’t what it used to be!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cecilia
PS
ReplyDeleteI love your chandeliers! Gorgeous!
Cecilia
I'm happy you got your bed situation straightened out. SO SORRY about the painting! I know y'all must have been so frustrated...that's a LOT of coats of paint! Especially using top of the line Behr. Everything looks so light and airy, so totally worth it. I love your pretty chandeliers. I can't wait to see more of your decor as you unpack and decorate! :D
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see this post and know you are moved into your "forever" house!!can't believe how much you have already done. Wears me out just reading what all you have done. I know it will just be gorgeous! Can't wait to see all of your decor! And all of your beautiful flowers again. Thought and prayed for you several times the last few days. Glad Terry is feeling better. Hugs! Judy Clark
ReplyDeleteKris, I am glad to hear that you are all moved in but sorry to hear about the troubles with the bed. I hope you get that all sorted out. You and Terry are working so hard on the house and I know it will look beautiful when you are finished and I can't wait to see how you decorate it. The area sounds so nice with all of the pools, pickeball, and golf, and you will both have a fun and relaxing time. Good luck
ReplyDeleteKris! It's Anita! HELLO! I emailed you a while back and I don't know if you got my email. Look at you, moved in! Congratulations my long time blogger friend. I hope you are well!
ReplyDeleteHello, Yay, you are moved. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the mattress/bed. We just purchased a new mattress, we love it. We have a family owned furniture store in our city of Rice Lake that we like to use to purchase furniture. Our boys were in 4-H with their kiddos. ;-)
I cannot wait to hear more about your neighborhood.
Carla
I cannot believe it was the wrong mattress after making you wait for days!! That is just wrong, but I get it, and sadly agree with you. No one seems to care anymore. I really hope that the rest of your orders and deliveries go off without a hitch. In the meantime, at least you have bright new walls and gorgeous chandeliers...and those plantation shutters for the door?? Marketplace?? Wow, what a lucky find! I wonder if you can find a golf cart there, too, because I think I see one in your future!! xo and congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteYou have worked hard to get your new place in order! It will be eye candy for the rest of us when you get your decor in place. I love seeing how you transform rooms. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow Kris you two have gotten a lot accomplished! Love the chandeliers, and it looks like you're going to have lots of light! Too bad about the bed issue. Frustrating to say the least! Liz@homeandgardeningwithliz.com
ReplyDeleteKris, I am tired just reading about all of the work you two have put in. But, you have accomplished a lot! I agree there is no customer service anymore. I will anticipate each new post. Do take some time to rest if at all possible.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, what a lot of trouble you have been through in this moving experience! Hoping your correct mattress gets straightened out. You have already turned the place into a delight and beauty and how wonderful that you get to enjoy the amenities available to you! It will feel like home for you very soon. You both are amazing at all you accomplish together! Many blessings to you :)
ReplyDeleteYikes, 2-3 coats with Great PAINT, that's insane. I can understand the trim...always takes more. Looks like everything will be lovely, and your amenities sound divine. Hope it all falls together with the least amount of pain...in the back, lol. Sandi
