Let's Go Shopping And A New Treasure To ReLove

Terry and I went to Michigan this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary from September.  It was a gorgeous weekend.  Miss Summer is trying hard to hold on.  In the high 70's and 80's.  More like  summer than fall.  We are suppose to cool down this week.  We will see if Mr. Fall wants to come in and stay.  This cool taxidermy Goose was the greeter at the door coming into the Found Cottage Christmas Open House.

The drive along the Lake Michigan towns was beautiful.  The leaves are beginning to change.  This was the backyard of the cute cottage we rented for the weekend.

It was a perfect fall get away.  Beautiful, restful and quiet.  We stayed in a cute little town right outside Saugatuck.  Our daughter Kim and SIL Eddie might be inheriting a gorgeous home in this sweet town.  We checked out the area and it is beautiful.  The town is mostly farmers and a population just under 2,000.
The downtown feels like you just walked into the 50's.
Sweet drug store and little coffee shop and cafe.  We had a yummy breakfast at the Blue Goose Cafe.
I love these little towns where everyone knows each other and everyone is so friendly.

I will let you stroll through the Found Cottage Christmas Open House we went to on Saturday.  They never disappoint with their Christmas Open House.  If any of you live near or visit Hudsonville Michigan you should stop into this sweet shop.  Lots of cool vendors.

I also had a sweet surprise while shopping.  A sweet follower of my blog approached me to say Hi.  It was nice to put a face to the friends that comment and have been following along for years.

That chippy mantel.  Oh my!!!! Wish I had someplace for that.  It was so sweet and chippy in all the right places.

This old cast iron planter would make for a great Christmas tree stand.  Extremely heavy and out of my price range but just gorgeous.

This is one of my favorite vendors at the Found Cottage.  I think you can see why.  Neutrals and chippiness galore!

There are all kinds of vendors something for everyone's taste and decor love.

This stand up Santa and sweet baby deer was so cute.  Santa has such a sweet face.

The old time Santa stand up.

Loved this sparse tree in silver and twinkle lights with gold old fashion ornaments.

As many of you know I grew up in Michigan.  Deer season is big there.  Michigan is one of the many states with an over loaded deer population.  Hunting is encouraged.
With a large deer population most would starve and not have
enough food so hunting is permitted during a specific time each year.  They do have laws about what kind of deer and how many you can hunt in a season.  The young population are not allowed to be killed.

While I am not a big lover of hunting or killing anything I understand the reason for it.  My dad and brothers hunted when I was growing up.  You will see a lot of treasured deer head trophies throughout the shop.
This particular deer was so unique in it's coloring,  not sure I could have hunted this one.  He is too pretty.

These snowman heads for lamp posts cracked me up.  They need black top hats.

The found cottage always has unique clothing.  They even have cute fitting rooms to try on the clothes.

Ok this is one of the found treasures I got on this trip.  Looks like an old vintage ordinary door.   I did not show you the backside of this door.   It has some cool hardware and door handle.  I will show more of that later when it is re loved.

Found this door for $40 in a cute and unique Antique Shop in the cute little down town.  Some wonderful treasures in her shop.  I will be returning there in the future.

We have a problem spot in the house that needs something unique.  So stay tuned to see what Terry makes and re loves this door into.  It will solve a problem and re love this to something very useful in our new place.

Have a great week everyone.
Hugs,
Kris

  4. I’d love to visit and stay in a sweet little town. I could wander in all the shops happily then enjoy the pretty Fall views from my cottage later. What cool things I spy in your photos! I can’t wait to see what the door becomes! Hunting is big in Texas too for the same reasons. And my dad and brothers hunted. I’m with you - I would have left that gorgeous deer alone.

  6. You are so fortunate to live near so many special shops. That urn oh my and the cherub bust. I can't wait to see the door.

The drive was gorgeous too. Pretty neat that Kim may inherit a house. Deer are a huge issue in NJ, PA and a few other states. Black bear are a huge problem in NJ. Enjoy your day!

Just everything is sweet. I am interested to see what Terry makes with the door, it will be nice I am sure. The weather is getting cooler, today is the last warm day in Northern Virginia, tomorrow the temps are taking another big dive. This month just flew by. Today I am working on my charity pick up for tomorrow. Lots of clothing and clutter.... yes clothing and clutter
    Happy Thursday
