I showed all of you the new cabinet painted and re loved to fit the TV inside. Well..... That is not the whole story. Nothing can ever go easy for Terry and I or "normal". If you have a few minutes I will tell you the story of my bargain cabinet and what happened yesterday since I posted about it.
OK here goes. Terry wanted this special Sony TV with the best quality picture and it was 65 inches. Our old TV was Old and small. Back in October we bought the new 65 inch TV and it was perfect sitting on the old chippy white alter.
Then I found this bargain cabinet and loved the character to this piece. I did measure the inside before I bought it. I thought it would fit the new TV. It would be tight but it would fit.
Got the cabinet delivered and guess what??? You guessed it the TV was about 1 inch too big to fit inside. Of course it was one inch too big that is how things go for us!!!!
So with the TV only a few months old we decided to take it back to Best Buy where we bought it.
Well...... Best Buy has a 60 day return policy and we were a few weeks past that return deadline. Even with getting managers involved and arguing we are only a short time past the 60 days, could they make an exception and let us return it and get the smaller version. Nope they kept saying there was nothing they could do. This is customer service now a days people!!!
So we got a smaller less expensive TV that would fit in the cabinet. Now we have two TV a great one we can't return and a smaller one that is not as nice. Now our choice is to put the new good big TV on FB Marketplace and sell it. I have had good luck selling my chippy white stuff on there but never wanted to sell electronics. I did not want to deal with the crazy that would come with trying to sell an expensive TV on there.
Our choice now was to give the great TV away and keep the little inexpensive one.
Terry never really wants for anything and he really loved this bigger TV and the picture quality. It was sad he could not have it work. So yesterday after posting about the cabinet re love I started to think about this.
I was mad at how crazy this was that Best Buy was not going to let us return it and we would be giving them more money to get a crappy smaller TV.
So when Terry got home I said go return this crappy smaller TV back to Best Buy and lets figure out how to make this bigger TV work with this cabinet.
I told him if we give in to this, that bargain cabinet I got to re love has now cost us a lot of money.
Terry returned the TV to the idiots at Best Buy and got a wall mount TV holder. He reinforced the back of the cabinet and hung the TV mount inside the cabinet.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with the TV. How amazing that you and Terry were able to figure out that TV situation. It looks nice this way and it's great that the TV can turn in different directions.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry y'all had trouble with Best Buy but I do love that beautiful cabinet! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteKris, I am glad you and Terry figured out how to keep the larger TV. I think it looks great and I do love the cabinet!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were able to come up with a solution and also return the smaller TV. It looks amazing and to be able to swivel it too is really nice.

I think that you and Terry have come up with the ideal solution to the problem. I totally agree that customer service isn't too good now, with the exception (here in the UK) of small privately owned businesses. We are blessed to have some of them here in the town where I live. Take care xoxo
ReplyDeleteTerry and his tools. He's the man! It looks really good. John asks for nothing too. He has his TV over the fireplace. We don't have the fancy picture TV, but that's okay with me. That's the only thing he wanted in this house. Nothing is like it was and it's sad. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fiasco! I’m glad it worked out - I think it looks terrific. Margy in KY
ReplyDeleteSo glad Terry figured out how to keep the larger tv. Sounds like it all worked out. The cabinet is lovely. Definitely a win! Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou and Terry always figure things out. We have two of those wall.mounts and they are quite versatile in the rooms they're in. Love it, Kris.
ReplyDeleteYou did it... sometimes we have to think out of the box, you are right about that!!
ReplyDeleteSam just had a bad experience at our local Best Buy.
Boo Hoo!
What a creative way to keep the better TV! Between you and Terry, you always come up with good ideas.
ReplyDeleteFrustrating, for sure! Glad y’all figured out how to use the bigger, better tv in your cabinet.
